Beautiful, one of my all time favorite Scarlatti Sonatas, filled with such bittersweet romantic longing. I've heard it played on various instruments, piano, guitar, harpsichord, it never fails to enchant me.
So beautiful. I'm so glad I joined the site. I've admired classical guitar from afar for long enough. I can't wait to start making music. Excelent interpretation. Very moving.
What I love most about this performance is that I can totally relax while I watch Simon play. So many players today keep staring at the fretboard like a snake at a rabbit.👀 Has it been always like this?
Thanks for a wonderful interpretation. This is one of my grade 7 pieces and it's a real inspiration for me to do better with it. Have you heard the John Williams version? It's available on TH-cam. Sean
Wonderfull. I find scarlatti pretty hard to play on guitar. I have the Barrueco version here of this piece and im also working on K 322 by Barbose Lima. Somehow the fingerings i find are hard to play. I have a lot less trouble with Bach transcriptions like the one by Teuchert. Simon does this wonderfully, looks like no effort at all, you should (or rather not) watch me trying not to get my fingers all in a bunch on this "slow" piece 😅
yeah...I was just trying to play the freakazoid Francouis Delfreakincamps' crazy fingered version. I figured I best get on here and here how it's supposed to be done. thanks! real nice.
I thought it been about ten years since I was first amazed by this. At this point I see nothing wrong with Delcamps’ version, but your playing an ornament is still capturing my attention. I wanted to play like you ten years ago, I haven’t come very far nice then apparently I must be a slacker and doing something drastically wrong, but I am closer… lol
Correct me if I am wrong, but the first few notes sound like the beginning of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, where Freddie plays sings "Mama... I just killed a man." Just saying. Freddie was classically trained, so he must have played this piece.
Merci infiniment
hi very nice version. Do you mind telling me or anyone could tell me what version is this? any pointer where i could buy the sheet music for this? thanks
Scarlatti is powerful for any musician.

What I love most about this performance is that I can totally relax while I watch Simon play. So many players today keep staring at the fretboard like a snake at a rabbit.👀 Has it been always like this?

Your interpretation matches mine... which I love, of course! :)
Muy bonita interpretacion
ese arreglo es de manuel barrueco??
Is this recording edited on a computer before posting ?
Sei bravissimo
Fabulous Simon. This work is perhaps Scarlatti's master piece. Do you plan to tour in Europe? Let us know! Best regards, Ron

Queen were awesome but they played in other league
Slow but beautiful! just 1 question what guitar do you have? name of it

hi very nice version. Do you mind telling me or anyone could tell me what version is this? any pointer where i could buy the sheet music for this?

There is a book called 'Scarlatti for Guitar' by Peter Batchelar + Richard Wright- got mine from amazon- my homework this evening!
There's also a really good book twelve sonatas from Scarlatti transcribed by Leo Brouwer. In fact, I'm using that book to study this piece. :)
Steve Bartington Thanks, mate! I'm using the version in the RCM 7, and it's utter shit.
hwos arrangment is? please l need it for study and this look so much easy than Delcamp´s arrangement
I am not sure but I think it is Leo Brower's.
you right, lve found it later online and it has the same pasages as he palys. Thank you
Cmon Simon....with only 73 responses....make the time to answer !!!!!! Masterful performance !!!!!!
Scarletti power up.
Teacher...NOBODY plays this as well as you. IMHO.
teacher, that guitar is?
"Coolll man.", in Indonesia we called it "MANTAFFF"
Nicely played. Yet this is not WYSIWYG but playback.
Beautiful piece, but too refined as music by itself
