Im about to become 15 and i really wanna try skydiving, course strapped into a professional but later on in life i wanna be able to do it professionally What did you have to do to become a skydiver?
Look up Skydiving school. You have to do some classroom stuff and a bunch of jumps with instructors in the air next to you. It's really awesome. Skydiving is so fun and rewarding. You will learn everything you need to know from your instructors.
So everything depends on that pilot chute working, if it doesn't work/pullout The parachute cord and parachute You're screwed wow I would never trust anything designed by a human to work every time rain or shine lol
That's why we check our gear a minimum of three times before jumping. If we miss something and the pilot chute doesn't pull the main, then just cutaway the main and pull the reserve.
I flew hang gliders for 15 years, I've witnessed three deployments of reserve chutes, I know they work, but of the half a dozen skydivers I've talked to they all have a horror story where they had some type of malfunction, that they obviously were able to overcome. The hang glider pilots that do aerobatics they actually fly with two reserves 😅. I'm also a long time a&p mechanic and I've seen shit break all by themselves as the airplane sits in a hanger 😮
It's not a horror story if they overcame it they're training and repeated practice save their lives that makes for a great story not a horror story@@christophergagliano2051

Now if they could only make it possible to somehow steer the parachute so you could perhaps land with less damage to the plane…
Ok
What?
line twist?
slightly. fixed itself quickly
the small parachute is called "back up parachute"
nope. that one is called a Pilot chute. the pilot chute pulls out the main parachute...if the main parachute, you release it and deploy the reserve!

You drive in a car don’t you?…

And if the reserve fails, then yes you're in for a bad time. But the chances of both failing are 0.00045% according to the USPA.
