    I really like seeing heavily planted, community tanks with a lot of bogwood and what not. Those that almost look like an underwater rainforest

  • @NowOrNeverGaming
    @NowOrNeverGaming 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That is the most beautiful stand and canopy I've ever seen. And I think you are spot on with putting an arowana in it.

  • @panaque
    @panaque 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think a really nice planted tank would reflect your store the best, something with a ton of schooling fish maybe. I really love those old school metal rimmed tanks on the bookshelf though. Have fun in Japan and I am looking forward to seeing videos on your trip.

    • @panaque
      @panaque 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That dragon furniture is awesome! Maybe polypterus in there?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +panaque I've flirted with a lot of things, haven't decided yet. Wife wants a planted tank. I'm dreading the upkeep so maybe a planted tank that is mostly crypts and anubias etc. I have a metal rimmed tank that is 125 gallon over the store's storage. I just need to reseal it and get it setup.

    Wow this was an awesome video bud. Them new tanks are awesome. That custom one though is just wow. You can tell a lot of time was put in to making stand and top. I would really like to see the detail in the bottom carvings on a nice day. With a tank like that you have so many choices on what you can put in there. You already know what i would do with it but thats me. It comes down to can you justify spending that much money on a tank for 1 or 2 fish for the next 10 to 20 years. or a community tank with many fish that could be easily changed around. I would have no problem giving it to a couple of monster fish but some people like options.

    You know me, I'd go for nicely planted Amazon scape and about 500 or so neon tetras (greens for me) or some other small but really nice schooling fish. Add in a bunch of appropriate corydoras (20+) and just enjoy watching them school in the huge tank.
    Nice to see you have it set up again!

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dalvers63 I thought about that too. We considered just doing corydoras also.

  • @ZetviCo
    @ZetviCo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the new tank, id "day dream" of an iwagumi scape with a few large dragon stone and small carpet such as hc or monte carlos. Id go with dry start method then aim low tech non co2 moderate light and ferts for the peace of mind as well!

    What a beut tank,My suggestion for fish would be high grade koi and goldfish to keep in line with the wood carving.
    Love your vids and you have given me lots of ideas for my own tank setup THX.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JagSkillz I'm leaning towards goldfish as well! :D

  • @bigbuck6217
    @bigbuck6217 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is an awsome stand. I always like stands that look like a nice piece of furniture. I'd do a planted tank. Jungle Val in the corners,big piece of driftwood or two-thirds , maybe a giant sword, somthing showy like a red lotus, with some wild heckle discus and or some altums. Or just a school of Congo tetras

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jason Buck Yeah I love the stand as well :) I am considering planting it, but also doing goldfish... I know people will say it won't work... I can make it work :D

    Lazy? Cory, I'm surprised you even knew what that word means. You even used it correctly in a sentence. I'm impressed at your command of such exotic words. ROFL
    If you eliminate floor space and use a harness system to hang from the ceiling, you could have even more tanks.
    For the new tank, how about a "hillstream" tank with massive water flow and the fish that live in an environment like that?
    Looking forward to seeing the black box.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Old School Fish Guy River tank has been on my to do list for quite a while. Not for this tank though, a future one it'll have to be.

  • @tilapiastew6784
    @tilapiastew6784 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the idea of a low light planted tank with nano species in large numbers. Those habrosus, ember and green tetras, Pygmy corys, exotic otos would do well in ur water. There are lots of nanos u could use. Hope it turns out well whatever you pick.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tilapiastew Yeah, would take an insane amount of small fish to fill it :)

  • @P0HTAT0
    @P0HTAT0 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just because it's what I like and plan to do very soon in my fish room this summer. "South American tank" For me it will be the place I put all my non breeder Angles-Discus and I also have 2 silver arowana and my wife will be getting one of the smaller stingrays. For the tank you have I'd stay away from the stingrays and look into a Mata Mata turtle for that little bit of awesome.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +P0HTAT0 Yeah. The mata Mata turtle would be awesome

    whats behind that back wall in the studio? Could you plumb the sump into a different room; or even put the whole tank in another room and create some kind of viewing window? I vote for you to choose what to stock it with. Is there any species you haven't kept? Would love to see you start on something you haven't tried before. Is your solar heat collector done with empty soda cans painted black?....thats something I've seen in the past but never thought of adding it to the fishroom.....might be time to do that! Arowanna seems fitting in the new tank!

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rich's Fishes the solar collector is made with the screen design which is proven to be slightly more efficient. A heck of a lot easier to build. As for behind that wall in the studio it would be my yard. I could plumb it into a different room,but would have to change where the tank was and it probably wouldn't work since the studio is small. The problem is there aren't many species I haven't kept at this point besides ones that haven't interested me much. I'll keep thinking on it :)

    • @RichsFishes
      @RichsFishes 9 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @kendabenn3810
    @kendabenn3810 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gold fish should go int there, really good ryukins, and you could even do a bare bottom so you don't add more weight. Do you have to do any reinforcements for the weight of that large scale set up?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kenda Benn Our floor seems to be built just fine to handle it and we spread the load out correctly over the joists. I can't say for long term yet, but a shorter tank, with a larger footprint is easier on a floor typically.

    Dude! Mad amounts of shrimps! Can you go over your water autochange system? I've watched the videos on the drain and fill set up, but do you treat, if so when pump on a timer or do you turn a valve?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David Ensor Pump is on a timer and I don't treat because my water has very low levels of chlorine. But if I did need too I'd hook up a dosing pump :)

  • @systemdeadlock
    @systemdeadlock 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool vid! Any chance you do a vid on how to breed tetras?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +systemdeadlock Probably not as they are just pretty difficult to breed and I've never attempted it yet. Some are even light sensitive which would make it pretty hard to actually show any of the process.

  • @TheNetworkD
    @TheNetworkD 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would you not have given the ibc tanks a coat of paint to prevent algae? or are you using something else prevent it? or is it even a concern aha love the video, great work :)

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheNetworkD I could have painted them on the outside. But really I want algae to grow. If hair algae grows it is a great food source. Otherwise it's just helping filter my water.

    • @TheNetworkD
      @TheNetworkD 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok that fair enough then and never knew algae acts as form of filter (you learn somethig everyday) again love the videos man aha

    • @josephpinkston7101
      @josephpinkston7101 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aquarium Co-Op Then something high end if you can do it. That nice tank stand and canopy needs something high end. plus you are an experienced fish keeper so something rare would be nice
