Just so You know, the lights you were confuse... They talk about in thr song "Bandito" and it has to do with neon gravestones too that can be seen around the city
Somebody else probably already commented this but the backwards speaking at the beginning says something to the effect of “we are Bandidos we renounce vialism ” In Josh Dun’s voice. Vialism is the religion of Dema and the bishops. This religion ultimately lead you to suicide according to Tyler. Staying low is how Tyler defeats nico and is a common theme. In the song Bandidos he “can take the high road” but he “knows that he’s going low”. But you have not listened to Bantidos yet. Also, back in Lane Boy he has the part in the video where he has the crowd “stay low” and encourages them to do so. The bishops were making neon gravestones. These are the grave stones for those that commit suicide. You have not got to the song neon gravestones yet.
The reversed part at the beginning says: "we denounce vialism" "you will leave dema and head true east" "we are banditos" then in the rest of the song it says (reversed) "fire" and "nico and the niners" a few times and "we are banditos" at the end
"Lighter when I'm lower, higher when i'm heavy" - i think Tyler is saying he feels more like himself when he feels low, and he feels good when the heavy thoughts are on him the bishops are making Neon Gravestones - which is another song on the album you should do after the trilogy - very heavy song
Explanation (attention - a lot of words): so basically you saw connection between two concept albums of Twenty one pilots (TOP), first one - blurryface and second one - trench some definitions that should help you: Blurryface - main character in the album, that represents Tyler's (singer and songwriter), and ours insecurities .obviously Tyler's alter-ego. Tyler usually wears black paint on his hands and neck during his live shows and music videos for the album, to represent Blurryface and his insecurities, how he is not sure in his music ( hands - music instruments , neck - words, voice). Nico (man in red from Jumpsuit) - blurryface physical form, main bishop in Trench album. Dema - represents a place (city), physical or psychological, where Blurryface has jurisdiction over Tyler, which means a place where your insecurities control you. Trench is the place in-between this control and "freedom" . Banditos - a rebel organization who rescue people trapped in Dema and trying to help people Leave The City of Dema, fight their insecurities and depression (obviously - TOP fans). Red color - blurryface era (depression, insecurities, bishops) Yellow color - trench era (hope, support, family, friends) about videos in order of story (spoilers, but without them it's really hard to understand): heavydirtysoul - In this video blurryface is driving Tyler to Dema while repeatedly trying to kill Josh(drummer) who is trying to stop him. While those hard drumming it helps Tyler to take some control , cuz with every hit of drums - car is start to fall over. At the last minute Tyler takes control again and saves Josh - but Josh's drums are still catching fire, because Ty problems affect everyone around him even if he doesn't hit them physically.... And after the car catches fire and ty beats blurryface - it starts all over again the next day... A constant loop of hurting the people you love because of your inner demons. Now some people believe the car also represents the whole blurryface album and it blows up at the end to symbolize the end of the era and beginning of trench. Jumpsuit - the guy in red is Nico . When he touched Ty's neck he get him under his control (black paint on his neck). The people up on the cliff are the banditos, wearing yellow tape, who are trying to save TY ( represents his family and friends , that give him support(yellow flowers) to get out of this control), in the end of the video last man on the cliff is Josh. Nico and the niners - So in this video Ty is planning his escape (symbol of it - yellow color and this flower in the beginning, from the end of jumpsuit, also you can see that it's bunch of flowers, so this is also looped). In the end of this video - he unexpectedly meets banditos who got out but did not left him and come to rescue Ty. Levitate - in the end of video Nico grab Tyler once again . A constant loop like in Heavydirtysoul - but here it represents how depression an anxiety (Nico form) can take you in anytime when you even not seen it coming. Hole storyline is next : Heavydirtysoul - Jumpsuit - Nico and the niners - levitate. Then Heathens (spin off with bunch of color references) - Morph - Neon gravestones - Bandito - Leave the city
I cannot wait for your breakdown of levitate. It brings everything together. he's speaking straight to the clique and tells it all if you know how to listen.
@@KnoxHill Hey, I just wanted to share an idea. I think that the lyric “East is up” can represent Jesus on the cross. The Thief that was saved was to the right of Christ, and well, East is to the right. I feel like there’s a correlation.
All I can say Knox is the thing the I, and I'm guessing most TØP fans, love about them is that all of their songs are fully up to interpretation. It literally has the capacity fit any situation you need it to fit and its even more special because they do it on purpose. Even their first band symbol was like that- Everytime someone asked them about its meaning they would say it means whatever you want it to mean they have their own meanings for it but give free range for the fans to make their own meanings. This was especially shouted out in one of my favorite of their earlier songs "kitchen sink".
Nico and his crew are building “neon gravestones”, another song, that represents glorifying suicide. “Hang on to your razor blades” because these evil bastards are trying to get these gray shirt people to give into the darkness. The banditos are coming in trying to pull these people out, give them a place to belong. Many people miss this because there isn’t a video for Neon Gravestones so it’s easy to miss that symbolism.
If I'm not mistaken, East is up is a clue to the symbol of the album art which is like a map, so you would turn turn east to the north "up" position to continue solving the cipher. It's been awhile since I looked into it and I'm sure somebody else will correct me.
The light the bishops had was representing “false” light. Light that they can “control” and “contain”, rather than true yellow light that represents truth and hope.
“What the hell do those lights mean?” You will understand the lights after listening to neon gravestones. It’s a heavier one emotionally. More of a spoken word or march with a deeply important message to tell the world.
The best break down I’ve read about “East is up” has to do with the Sun being The Son of God” The breakdown used at least 10 examples from other songs, and all of them were saying the sun is good, and the dark is bad. And when they say “up” it’s about the highs and lows, high being good and low being bad. There’s also something with the cover of the blurry face album and turning it so easy is up I’ve read as well. And something about some ancient map of the world where East is at the top of the map, and Eden/Paradise is at the most Eastern point. All great theories!
@@RikaShae here is one. It’s older and done while people were trying to figure out Trench. But she talks about the parallels between Trench and The Hobbit. I really enjoy the variation of the handshake Knox, highlight for me. And another reason I have to watch your reactions; with TØP and NF, even though I’ve heard all of them a million times, I still miss stuff and you catch it. The razor blades and George Orwell, never would have caught that, the distraction in the video, never got that either. Thank you for always being on top of it for my slow brain lol.
Can’t wait for you to do levitate. It definitely brings this trilogy together. Also, their new album, Scaled and Icy, has some cool songs with music videos. Those would be shy away, Choker, and then Saturday (in that order) and they’re really good. Totally different sounds from Trench and it’s really interesting.
Another thing I like about the vulture shot: In Pet Cheetah Tyler says "My house is the one where the vultures are perched on the roof!" So Much symbolism lol
You need to listen and react to "Levitate", "No Chances", and then "Redecorate". In the beginning of Redecorate, a few words of one of Clancy's letter is being read aloud.

Fantastic reaction - I can’t wait for levitate reaction!!! His rapping is next level on that track!!! It still blows me away that the Label were ok with this whole concept! Lol! I always imagine Tyler and Josh going in to see their label and pitch this idea of a dystopian city that exists in Tyler’s mind to control his suicidal thoughts, with all the different characters, themes, symbolism etc - never mind the massive budgets they must’ve needed for the music videos to be as high quality as they are! For their label to run with it shows how much respect and trust they must have in Tyler and Josh and how much they must’ve believed in Tyler’s ability to paint the narrative. Still blows my mind! I’d love to see you react to My Blood music video! Great track and really cool video!
The nine dots in the DEMA map also correspond to the nine circles in the Blurryface album cover. All represent the nine bishops, whose names are hidden in nine different songs on Blurryface's lyrics (with the exception of the leader, Nico): 1. Nico (theorised to be 'Stressed Out', "my Name Is blurryface, and i Care what yOu think") 2. Andre (Fairly Local, "AND REpeat yesterday's dance") 3. Lisden (Polarize, "all i feeL IS DENial") 4. Keons (HeavyDirtySoul, "choKE ON Smoke") 5. Reisdro (Doubt, "temperatuRE IS DROpping") 6. Sacarver (Tear in my Heart, "she'S A CARVER) 7. Nills (Goner, "beaten dowN, I'LL Slip away") 8. Vetomo (Lane Boy, "will they be aliVE TOMOrrow") 9. Listo (Ride, "LIST Of people we would take")
Man, I absolutely love these interpretations🖤🙌👌I usually interpret Twenty One Pilots songs as well, but all these you do give me even more insight to the meanings behind their songs, and they tie in very well with my interpretations
Oh man you are so good at tøp reactions, and kudos for going and doing some research before reacting to this one, your extra background knowledge really showed. I can’t wait for you to react to levitate, I think it is going to blow your mind both musically and story wise.
as far as your theories on what dema represents, they’re all right lol. Dema means what you need it to mean, tyler doesn’t like to explicitly say what it’s “supposed” to mean because one of the most important parts about this music is that it can apply to so many different people, situations, and struggles. They tend to dodge questions in interviews asking about the meaning of this or that because they want it to be open to whatever interpretation is most important to you. Also the “light ladder” thing is a neon gravestone. there’s a song called neon gravestones on the album, it’s a heavy one but it’s also one of my personal favorites. it says a lot. Great reaction and interpretation i loved it!
Great reaction as always Knox! And congratulations on your new album - it’s fire 🔥 And I totally agree, it’s your best work to date, super excited to see what’s in store for you in 2022, keep spreading the message! Get well soon!
I’m late watching but wow, great reaction. Love how you dug into dema to know more. I’m always amazed by Tyler’s creativity and how the story is linked to the songs with lots of hidden gems
You mentioned how Tyler puts the mic to his head in the video. It could also be a callback to the Guns for Hands video (older, from ‘Vessel’, a video you should react to anyway).
@@KnoxHill I loved the Live Tøp reaction. Would it be possible to get the full Vod over on your Patreon so we can hear your thoughts on the music that got cut?
The fast part they sang in this song. I watch a video once about how it was also talking about how they sponsored with the first suicide squad movie and the video of heathens. They are saying exactly what happens in the video of heathens.
Also your first theory of dema is the most fitting one because the name of the bishops (with the exception of nico) have been taken form different song lyrics from the blurryface album (for eg keons form choKE ON Smoke - heavydirty soul) and each of those song is about a different insecurity
"Lighter when I'm lower" like when you are depressed and being beaten down your closer to heaven and suicide, but "higher when your heavy" could have something to do with stress/anxiety making you feel heavy and drugs making you high. "The jumpsuit takes me higher" could go with my last point and the rebels have a lot of burdens that make them anxious.
this album reference a lot to their past album Blurryface, thy symbolism here is crazy. Trench especially was written by Tyler for fans, because they will get the double meaning. Its like an album only us can understand
it’s actually been confirmed Clancy and Tyler in the music videos are not the same person, Clancy is watching Tyler from a distance and telling the story to inspire others
the lighter when I’m lower higher when I’m heavy part is, on the surface, referring to how when he has his jumpsuit on he is up high (“my jumpsuit takes me so high”) and having his jumpsuit on makes him heavier. when he doesn’t have the jumpsuit on he is obviously lighter and he is not able to go high so he’s lower. there’s obviously a deeper meaning to this, but i won’t go into it.
Lighter when i'm lower, higher when i'm heavy (TW suicidal thoughts, depression) I've been dealing with depression my whole life without even knowing it, until last year when it turned into severe depression and the suicidal thoughts were constant. I was dealing with immense amount of stress due to studies, hiding my scars and my affliction from my family, self-hate, etc. Now that i'm (very slightly) better, as in I'm not actively looking for ways to end my life, I realize that I miss that. For the first time in my life I more or less knew what I felt, I felt more alive than ever when I was closest to killing myself. So much so that i'm currently just biding my time for my parents' attention to slip up so I can get back to hurting myself. I read in another comment I saw that the message is always open to interpretation. This is mine.
I just want to tell you that you are such a precious person. To deal with what you have gone through is something that requires great strength; I’ll pray that you will continue to find even greater strength❤️ Your life is a beautiful creation, please hang in there💗
The reversed intro sounds to me like "We are Banditos. We will leave Dema and head true East. We renounce vialism" Not sure if anyone has put that. But there you go. I don't think Tyler or Josh has said for certain. Vialism is believed to be the religion the Bishops of Dema created. I'm not sure why ToP chose to call it this, but when I think of the word vial, I think of a very small container where things are kept for research. Vialism being a practice where they keep their subjects contained to closely monitor them. That's how I interpret it anyways.
What I don't see people talking about are the lyrics: "Rent a race horse" and "Start a concert: A Complete Diversion" They rented a race horse for the Jumpsuit MV and hosted a concert called "A Complete Diversion" before the album released I just found it pretty cool :)
Kinda sad you looked up the lore Knox. It was nice and refreshing to hear someone’s perspective of the songs and breaking it down with no knowledge of Dema and hear what a casual fan/professional rapper had to say
Yes! This means one step closer to Levitate! Please do a premiere for Levitate so I can be early in hearing your breakdown. You will love the different schemes and Easter eggs
I didn't see anyone else say this, but the faster, second verse is referencing the Heathens music video. "Force a sponsor" the song was written for Suicide Squad "start a concert, a complete diversion" In the music video, Tyler is wearing an orange prison jumpsuit (in between Blurryface red and trench Yellow) and starts a concert for the other prisoners. The colors shift from orange to yellow during the concert as well. Tyler loses the orange jumpsuit for a yellow suit "Start a mob and you can be quite certain we'll win but not everyone will get out" while the other "prisoners" escape the jail (DEMA), Tyler ends up back in a his orange jumpsuit surrounded by guards alone.
ALSO the last reverse lyric where it sounds like “so dig ned bayou” is in relegation to Ned’s Bayou which is a whole new character and a pop up shop they created in Ohio who also appears in other music videos
Hope you enjoyed it lol. Didn't think it was appropriate to leave up for most people's ear drums. Covid has kicked my ass and I'm still fighting the exhaustion and brain fog
Can't wait for levitate. I think the part when he raps " maybe from all the money we made, razor blade stores" is a dig back at the people and press in the beginning of their career said they were glorifying suicide.
This song basically explains the entire plot of the heathens music video. When he says "force a sponsor" you can tell he is referring to suicide squad. And then he mentions making a break for it and not everyone will get out, just like when he starts the riot and he doesn't escape. It's so wild!
The reversed part in the beginning says “we denounce vialism” which is a religion that the bishops believe in. It’s a religion based from suicide. “East is up” is the only way to escape Dema. The light fixture that the bishops are building are “Neon Gravestones” another song on their album which is about glorifying suicide. Hope you can react to that one next after the trilogy. Also Clancy is not Tyler, he is another soul that has escaped Dema and writes his whole journey.
It’s a common misconception but Tyler doesn’t represent Clancy he’s a different character. One of Clancy’s letters describes the Jumpsuit video from an outside perspective so he couldn’t be Tyler if he was also watching Tyler. Super impressed that you checked out the Demaorg stuff though, most reactors don’t go that deep!
"Lighter when I'm lower, higher when I'm heavy" - My guess here was Tyler was talking about fame. He doesn't like all of this fame he is getting so when he didn't have many fans, he felt lighter. Like he doesn't have a weight on his chest he needs to carry but because he has all of that, he feel heavy, burden with all that he has. That was my assumption
Knox, Pleassse react to more of TREASURE. I am sure you will love their music. These are the songs you can check out - 1. My Treasure 2. Be With Me (나랑 있자) 3. Slowmotion 4. Boy 5. Come To Me (들어와) 6. I Love You (사랑해) 7. B.L.T (Bling Like This) 8. Mmm (음) 9. Orange (주황색) 10. Going Crazy (미져가네)

@@garrett.c.j it's head true east!!
@@novacaine8331 True? Not 'due?'
I love the symbolism that the banditos use "fire" through the torches, a natural light and the bishops use an artificial light with the neon.
In "bandito" tyler calls neon a "heatless fire"
Omgg i never thought about that, good point!!
The fire bares heat however they are already refined.. it does bare heat .. Like Shadrach Meshach and a Bendigo in the Bible they can’t be burned
"But I recently discovered it's a heatless fire"
"Lighter when I'm lower, higher when i'm heavy" - i think Tyler is saying he feels more like himself when he feels low, and he feels good when the heavy thoughts are on him
the bishops are making Neon Gravestones - which is another song on the album you should do after the trilogy - very heavy song

"Dema don't control us" when he holds the mic to his head. That's the same gesture he made during Guns for Hands. ahhhh the callbacks
I know I'm not the only one who's been waiting for Knox to get to Levitate ever since he did his first top reaction...
The day never comes..
The nine dots in the DEMA map also correspond to the nine circles in the Blurryface album cover. All represent the nine bishops, whose names are hidden in nine different songs on Blurryface's lyrics (with the exception of the leader, Nico):
1. Nico (theorised to be 'Stressed Out', "my Name Is blurryface, and i Care what yOu think")
2. Andre (Fairly Local, "AND REpeat yesterday's dance")
3. Lisden (Polarize, "all i feeL IS DENial")
4. Keons (HeavyDirtySoul, "choKE ON Smoke")
5. Reisdro (Doubt, "temperatuRE IS DROpping")
6. Sacarver (Tear in my Heart, "she'S A CARVER)
7. Nills (Goner, "beaten dowN, I'LL Slip away")
8. Vetomo (Lane Boy, "will they be aliVE TOMOrrow")
9. Listo (Ride, "LIST Of people we would take")
Man, I absolutely love these interpretations🖤🙌👌I usually interpret Twenty One Pilots songs as well, but all these you do give me even more insight to the meanings behind their songs, and they tie in very well with my interpretations
I think all your theories are correct and probably more - Tyler is pretty deep and genius- I’m sure it represents all of those things
Looking forward to this!! Thanks Knox!
Thank you for always supporting 🙌
Woah this is the first time I've ever even heard this lore stuff and I still related to and loved these songs. Genius! 😮
Would love to hear your analysis on Migraine, the flow, the lyrics, the metaphors they're all *chefs kiss*
Oh man you are so good at tøp reactions, and kudos for going and doing some research before reacting to this one, your extra background knowledge really showed. I can’t wait for you to react to levitate, I think it is going to blow your mind both musically and story wise.
The message backwards was “You will leave Dema at true East. We are Banditos.”
yellow petal confetti is used during jumpsuit in concerts 🥺
as far as your theories on what dema represents, they’re all right lol.
Great reaction and interpretation i loved it!
btw. yellow is the suicide prevention color and in the lore it represents support
Yessss for more! Hope you had a good holidays and are feeling better too. Thank you for still giving us content all the time 💜
The levitate reaction is gonna be dope
Tyler’s mind just blows me away. 🤯
Great reaction as always Knox! And congratulations on your new album - it’s fire 🔥
And I totally agree, it’s your best work to date, super excited to see what’s in store for you in 2022, keep spreading the message!
Get well soon!
Your ability of making a music video reaction last 20 minutes is quite impressive
and making it worth watching lmao
Got my CD yesterday! Super happy.
Ay let’s go!! Thank you for supporting 🔥
Been a minute Knox!!! Love seeing those subs going up and up and up. Love you brother! Keep this shit up!
Always, thank you for continuing to be here and support 🙏
Very awesome breakdown Knox! Can’t wait to see your breakdown of levitate!
Amazing reaction 💛💛💛💛
I’m late watching but wow, great reaction. Love how you dug into dema to know more. I’m always amazed by Tyler’s creativity and how the story is linked to the songs with lots of hidden gems
You mentioned how Tyler puts the mic to his head in the video. It could also be a callback to the Guns for Hands video (older, from ‘Vessel’, a video you should react to anyway).
Can’t wait for levitate
Me neither
@@KnoxHill I loved the Live Tøp reaction. Would it be possible to get the full Vod over on your Patreon so we can hear your thoughts on the music that got cut?
The fast part they sang in this song. I watch a video once about how it was also talking about how they sponsored with the first suicide squad movie and the video of heathens. They are saying exactly what happens in the video of heathens.
Let's go Knox!!!!
Hope you have a good holidays Kelly!
@@KnoxHill Thank you Knox! Hope you do too. Get some rest and get better friend!
"The jumpsuit takes me higher" could go with my last point and the rebels have a lot of burdens that make them anxious.
you should react to neon gravestones. it is said to be the outskirts area of trench and that song is about glorifying and celebrating suicides
Lights = neon gravestones. Another TOP song.
this album reference a lot to their past album Blurryface, thy symbolism here is crazy. Trench especially was written by Tyler for fans, because they will get the double meaning. Its like an album only us can understand
do more TØP reaction vids please 🥺❣️ more power to you Knox! you're the best
You're gonna flip over Levitate. He straight up spits
Check out all of their songs🙌🏻
it’s actually been confirmed Clancy and Tyler in the music videos are not the same person, Clancy is watching Tyler from a distance and telling the story to inspire others
the lighter when I’m lower higher when I’m heavy part is, on the surface, referring to how when he has his jumpsuit on he is up high (“my jumpsuit takes me so high”) and having his jumpsuit on makes him heavier. when he doesn’t have the jumpsuit on he is obviously lighter and he is not able to go high so he’s lower. there’s obviously a deeper meaning to this, but i won’t go into it.
Lighter when i'm lower, higher when i'm heavy
(TW suicidal thoughts, depression)
I've been dealing with depression my whole life without even knowing it, until last year when it turned into severe depression and the suicidal thoughts were constant.
What I don't see people talking about are the lyrics:
"Rent a race horse" and "Start a concert: A Complete Diversion"
They rented a race horse for the Jumpsuit MV and hosted a concert called "A Complete Diversion" before the album released
I just found it pretty cool :)
Ah, man, love TOP:) Love the latest album, too, my dude, keep up the grind!
Sick video mate and nice song as all ways mate
Kinda sad you looked up the lore Knox. It was nice and refreshing to hear someone’s perspective of the songs and breaking it down with no knowledge of Dema and hear what a casual fan/professional rapper had to say
Yes, and.i liked his breakdown of Jumpsuit even without insight!
Yes! This means one step closer to Levitate! Please do a premiere for Levitate so I can be early in hearing your breakdown. You will love the different schemes and Easter eggs
I didn't see anyone else say this, but the faster, second verse is referencing the Heathens music video.
"Force a sponsor" the song was written for Suicide Squad
"start a concert, a complete diversion" In the music video, Tyler is wearing an orange prison jumpsuit (in between Blurryface red and trench Yellow) and starts a concert for the other prisoners. The colors shift from orange to yellow during the concert as well. Tyler loses the orange jumpsuit for a yellow suit
"Start a mob and you can be quite certain we'll win but not everyone will get out" while the other "prisoners" escape the jail (DEMA), Tyler ends up back in a his orange jumpsuit surrounded by guards alone.
I love your reactions, I hope you listen the new album soon
OMG FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TOOO LOOOONGG!! ||-//
Trench in chronological order is amazing, chlorine will always be my favorite. Speaks to me on a deep level
ALSO the last reverse lyric where it sounds like “so dig ned bayou” is in relegation to Ned’s Bayou which is a whole new character and a pop up shop they created in Ohio who also appears in other music videos
Hint for the neon lights the bishops worship: one of their songs on Trench is called Neon Gravestones👀
I saw your first unedited upload... ;-)
Hope you enjoyed it lol. Didn't think it was appropriate to leave up for most people's ear drums. Covid has kicked my ass and I'm still fighting the exhaustion and brain fog
They’re making neon gravestones. (Another song) a heatless fire.
"We'll win but not everyone will get out.."
True victory doesn't come without sacrifice...
Can't wait for levitate. I think the part when he raps " maybe from all the money we made, razor blade stores" is a dig back at the people and press in the beginning of their career said they were glorifying suicide.
Looking forward to you doing the next part ( levitate)
Personaly, Nico and the Niners is my favorite TØP song. Love the reaction and your thoughts on the lore and everything surrounding Dema and TØP🔥
This song basically explains the entire plot of the heathens music video. When he says "force a sponsor" you can tell he is referring to suicide squad. And then he mentions making a break for it and not everyone will get out, just like when he starts the riot and he doesn't escape. It's so wild!
I’ve never clicked on a video faster.
Let’s go 🔥🔥
Please tell me youll do all of “Trench” at some point. Love your reactions to TOP content!!
In you ever go back to Country Reactions check out Colter Wall, Charlie Daniels, and Jeannie C Riley’s “Harper Valley PTA”
Next ➡️up to Chlorine. React to TØP official music 🎶 video first then react to official audio. And love ❤️ your TØP reaction like always😍, Knox.
I am clancy
Love your reactions! Please react to the scaled and icy album, i find it very interesting
These are the songs you can check out -
