- The Beach Boys and The First Edition are my two favorite vocal groups. Here is Terry Williams, Kenny Rogers, Kin Vassy, and Mary Arnold singing a long medley in 1971. This is particularly notable as it is partially an early nod to the greatness of Pet Sounds.
Brian Wilson one cited Kenny Rogers as an artist he admired, once quoted "Just Dropped In" in his song "H.E.L.P. Is On The Way". I took the time once to send him Kenny's pre First Edition group LP from The Bobby Doyle Three. Don't know if he ever got to hear it, but that Kenny was in two of the finest harmony groups of the era is all but unknown. Creatively it is perhaps even more interesting than the hits.
Definitely! Thanks for sharing it with us !!!
Judging from the backdrop, this must be from their Canadian TV series "Rollin' On The River" also known simply as "Rollin".
She is gorgeous
Mary Arnold I believe
@@chuckdieselkicksdisks2380 Yes indeed. Mary's HUSBAND was Roger (King Of The Road ) Miller. The First Edition All SUPER TALANTED.

@@marke6569 agree love Roger Miller - and mary's great and Thelma Comancho. My first LP i owned for years is Sometings Burning Lp featuring Mary Arnold
I also own many Roger Miller lp's & singles
I pretty much think Kin Vassy was a better singer than Kenny Rogers. Definitely a more powerful voice.
That's your opinion and you have a right to it, however, who became the Mega Star? I rest my case.
Beautiful Mary Arnold . Married Roger Miller till he passed in 92. 76 Now . GORGEOUS
Well that's the reason I put this up. So few people realize they were, before anything else, a harmony group.
i know I am kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream new movies online ?
@Ramon Bodie Flixportal :D

Wow. A middle aged Kenny Rogers there......
NICE .
Amazing
Beautiful lady
Well Pet Sounds was still a big part of their show in 1971 check out "The Beach Boys setlist archive" website. I don't have the URL off hand but google that.
.
The only group i have ever seen that could properly cover the Beach Boys was the Cowsills. I guess its takes a family effort.
Lovely Mary Miller
Great
its funny because at this point in time The Beach Boys were avoiding most of their older songs like the plague (see Central Park) - but the material is going over pretty well here...
Funny to see them performing a mid 60s song in the early 70s....
wow. Kenny was the weakest singer in this. Plus no range yet.
He has range he's just not a very good technical singer yet-he doesn't "project" at all. Breathing control and posture are really important.
Kenny was really, really bummed out when the others wanted to leave the band and essentially First Edition would be no more. Not knowing what would be his next move...his handlers would reinvent Kenny Rogers into the country star that he is today...and the rest is history.
As AWESOME AS THE BEACH BOYS THEMSELVES.
