Agust D is producer, songwriter, composer of his own music. He is usually credited for keyboard/piano and synthesizer in his songs as well and he is always behind the concepts of his MVs
Agust D/SUGA is ranked as one of the most influential producers and songwriters in South Korea, who won multiple awards over the past few years, including best producer. He debuted at #9 on Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters Chart. He became the first male soloist in history to have a song and album reach No.1 on iTunes in 100 countries each. He is the highest debuting Korean soloist on Apple Music Global and the highest debuting Korean act on Apple Music US Daily Charts. He is ranked No.1 most streamed Korean male soloist globally in 2021 on Spotify and is the first Korean solo artist to enter the US Spotify artist chart. His mixtape "D-2" debuted at #11 on Billboard 200 and it is the most streamed album by a Korean soloist. And there is just a few of his achievements. He has two self-produced mixtapes: "Agust D" (2016) and "D-2" (2020), which broke several records on music charts worldwide. He uses his platform to talk about important topics and most of his lyrics touch such subjects as mental health, social issues, the contrast between dreams and reality, etc. To put this simply, in Daechwita MV king is his past self. The other one is his present self. So he shot his past self. "Daechwita" is a genre of Korean traditional military music, which was played to announce the arrival of king. He produces/writes a lot of songs for BTS as well as for other top artists. He was also working as producer for brand like Samsung. I recommend you to check out Agust D - "Agust D" MV; BTS - "Interlude: Shadow" MV (it is his solo song)
just remembered the fact that daechwita’s beat is consistent throughout the whole song but it sounds like it changes solely based on yoongi’s rap and tone changing
What's mind blowing about this song, aside from the obvious, is the explanation for it. You will be amazed at the brilliance of Suga's songwriting and all of the Korean cultural references that can not be understood just by reading the lyrics alone. It's like looking at the pictures, but never reading the book! Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/JayEtmyXVpo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=DKDKTV
Also....note that the song does not have the usual BigHit intro. That's because the individual members take on full responsibility for all aspects of their individual projects. This is ALL Suga's.
That’s my ultimate bias there from 8 years ago until this day (( I love all of BTS members)) but for him i can relate to his personality and way of thinking
Not sure if it's been said yet but Daechwita is something that they played when an emperor walked into a room for a special occasion so when he's saying daechwita play it loud he immediately is calling himself the ruler
Always remember, if they have official MV, go for it first and if they don't have one then you can go for live. Also, you need to check explanation video for this from DKDKTV.
So the live performance you saw was not a serious performance of this song. It was during their anniversary performance that they surprised us with a fun version where everyone in BTS, even the vocalists rapped SUGAS Daechwita and made it like a fun skit with Tae tied up etc. So watching it first was backwards since it's supposed to be fun but was not the best performance of Daechwita because not everyone are that good rappers. I suggest you always start with music videos or official audio + lyrics from their albums and after that do live performances.
I recommend reacting to The Last by Agust D. It’s definitely one of my favorites of his. I don’t think there is a music video so you would have to find a lyric video.
You’re right it’s like a movie. Every project is top class production, be it band or solo work. Their philosophy on that is, whatever it is they are making, to make everything into something they will be proud of. The live performance you saw the other day was like a gift they gave us on the anniversary, we love it too. No worries, just that they were both different and you can feel why we weighed the MV the way we did. Since you said you’re into production side, I recommend ON (Both the official MV and Kinetic manifesto film version), and Blood Sweat and Tears. Both group songs and mind blowing productions! Thank you for this reaction, see you soon 💜
This is like the third song I heard trying to decide if I was going to do this whole ARMY thing and I was like “Yep. Okay. I’m in!” Definitely check out AGUST-D as well. (That’s the name of the song.) It’s fire. Love your chill reactions. We all don’t need to be jumping out of chairs. 😆💜
The true meaning of this lyrics is mind blowing. Suga is a genius. You should check them out. This was made in respond to haters but this is a soo clever and polite way to do it.
I agree with you. When you watched their MV's it's like watching a mini movie. The struggle is real for appreaciating their song, their dance choreo's and the cinematography of thei MV's plus the captions 😂😂😂 Its sometimes hard to focus on each one but definitely a treat.💜💜💜
Don't worry! It's okay, you can choose what to watch first. I just would like to clarify: that performance was adapted to all members join in, including vocal line (they like try to rap for fun, it was not serious, it was kind of a joke). It was awesome also. But much different from the original version with only suga/agustD/yoongi.
so glad you got into the music video! i hope no one was being too harsh when you watched the live version first 😅 really enjoying your reactions! it's obvious that they're very genuine, which is 100% appreciated. looking forward to seeing more! :-)
@@tostonedtoreact This is an anomaly. Live versions often blow away the studio versions but this MV came first as a solo project. We were excited about rumors that it would be performed at the streaming concert but no one expected all 7 members to be participating. Iconic, yes, fun, yes, but this is an Agust D joint. You do things however you want to do them and if someone doesn't like it they don't have to watch. I'll watch anyway and then make fun of you because it's fun to pick on stoned people when you're not stoned. 🤣 Just ignore us...you're having a fun journey and seem unbothered by all of it.
tangerines @ 2:26.. little fun fact & inside stuff in the fandom, Suga is our Tangerine person/cat ( we also call him Meoww meoww opposite of his Agust D persona haha 😆) He loves tangerines, you will see him eating lots of them in vids haha.
I liked ur reaction💜as u saw at the end the king died (that means that even that he is so big now he still The one who used to be inside;humble but everything he got through still in his mind )💜
It's a masterpiece. Could clearly see that you we're enjoying it. The two guys fighting in one scene are two of the members (Jin & Jungkook). In that scene in front of the car the 6 guys gathering with him are representing the other BTS members.
I wanted to add too that Yoongi/ August D/ Suga is an insane musical genius. There is ONLY ONE rhythm/beat throughout the whole song, and the changes in tempo and melody are achieved by his change in flow and cadence in the vocals. He purposely designed this as a auditory experience so that the listener focuses on his rapping skills, and paired down the musical component to a simple repetitive beat that expertly combines with the vocal, with the march sounds on top. He's the King, he's the Boss!
Just about every song by BTS is elevated by the live performances but there are some that needs the full experience with the video... this is one of them... the order you do them is your choice 💜

By the way Agust D is Suga spelled backwards the T and D stands for Daegu town which is hometown. Daetchwita is the old traditional music that they played when the King enters and as he walks during the old dynasty age of Korea. Please react to the lyric video to First love which is Suga’s solo song on one of BTS albums. I think any artist can relate to it.

People are recommending DKDKTV explanation video but Bookish Theory video is way closer to what Suga himself has said about the song/music video in the behind the scenes. DKDK really stretches it with their theories about the references in my opinion.

Def recommend watching DKDKTV channel explanation video because there are so many Korean cultural references. Daechwita is a genre of music that came about the Joseon Dynasty (if I'm not mistaken). It was used for royalty processions, military marches, & special occasions.
This is a masterpiece. I really hope you reacted to an explanation vid for this. If not it is so worth it. And would be greatly appreciated ☺️💜 great reaction by the way
(Btw, the name is AGUST D, not AUgust D, which means DT Suga in reverse. DT is a reference do his hometown Daegu. Therefore, Agust D means Daegu Town Suga ;D)
nice one! it's pronounced as "day-chi-ta". it is a genre of Korean traditional marching music played for kings, royalties, important guests or for armies.
I’ve been enjoying your videos! Just as an explanation, Suga’s solo alias Agust D is DT Suga backwards. It references his former hip hop group D-Town, and where he comes from.
Forgive me if someone has already done this for you. (A very simplified explaination. There are always more than one layer of meaning). This is Suga showing the struggle of battling your "shadow." And, that it IS something we will all go through at some point. In the market, Suga makes a deal with the butcher (the headmans), and at the end the entire court is following Suga's rythm rather than the King (Suga's ego). Suga will not allow his ego to remain in control... The "live" Muster video you watched backs up the entire message. It's Suga's 1st chance at a live performance of this song... yet he gives the stage to his fellow BTS members to perform instead! I'm so very proud of V, Jin, and Jimin. They did such a wonderful job! And V (Tae) was so nervous and wanted to do a good job for Suga that he barely even moves while he's rapping! Lmao!
If you want hardcore rapping.. just check DETERMINADO.. SB19PABLO with his brother JOSHUE. This song is the GRAND WINNER OF DJOOKY MUSIC AWARDS 2021. THEY ARE GENIUS LYRICIST. SB19 PABLO HAS ALSO RELEASED HI SOLO DEBUT LA LUNA MUSIC VIDEO.. IT HAS NF VIBES IN IT. ITS A RAP SONG. And its in english and tagalog so you can understand it
actually only three BTS member has royal blood of joseon kingdom. that is Suga, Jin and V (kim taehyung) that is true. Suga grandmother is a queen joseon kingdom in south korea before the country change ideology becomes a republic .
The live performances from BTS are top tier, but in this particular instance you were right to do the MV instead. The only time Daechwita has been performed live so far was a fun jokey performance during a recent live stream concert where the other members of BTS jokingly performed the song with Suga/Agust D. Performances like that are usually best for after you're more familiar with the group and the members humor and the fandom inside jokes and stuff like that. In general, if the song has an MV, do the MV first. Then do a reaction to a live performance of it after (either as a combo video or do separate videos). Most of the songs have multiple live performances from different "music shows" (Korea has music shows similar to how we used to have TRL back in the day), day time talk shows like Good Morning America, late night talk shows like James Corden or Jimmy Fallon, or performances from their stadium tours. So ask your audience if there's a particular performance they want you to watch. Hopefully this helps!
I also recommend these Korean Hip Hop songs🔥🔥🔥These songs ALL have English Subtitles. SILKYBOIS- “BOMAYE”, NAFLA - "WU", H1GHER MUSIC - "TEAM", Simon Dominic - “GOTT”, BeWhy -"CHALLAN", TigerJK - "LOVE & PEACE", or WayChed - "RIDERS" if you have the chance.
Greaat! I was expecting this reaction! it is ok that you also saw the live performance, I hope you can react to: Micdrop Music video and MMA 2019 Full live performance (Dyonisus is in this performance), its worth it :) thanks!!!

Daechwita is incredible song .. the beat the flow the everything is so amazing 🤩🔥 please check D2 mixtapes.. interlude shadow.. seewaw 😍🙏🏻
True. This one is better. Because is all Suga..
🔥🎶💜
This whole mixtape is a masterpiece. React to Agust d by Suga.
Soon😁🎶💜
💜💜💜🇩🇿
pls watch the explanation video for this song !! lots of cultural references
Okay, much love🙌🏼🙏🏼💜
And its in english and tagalog so you can understand it
Please, pay the attention - it's Agust D, not August D 😊💜 it's an acronym for Daegu Town SUGA
👑👑👑
actually only three BTS member has royal blood of joseon kingdom. that is Suga, Jin and V (kim taehyung) that is true. Suga grandmother is a queen joseon kingdom in south korea before the country change ideology becomes a republic .
I spoke too soon (suggested elsewhere).
You should do Agust D's "AGUST D" it's fire, it's dope it's omg
Please react the explanation this song. By dkdktv korean version.
Check out RM's song "Joke". It is hard and dark.
Love it! 😊 But the name is AGUST D, not AUGUST D 😅
That embarrassing 😅 I'm blind af well not literally just have trouble seeing after a while looking at my phone lol thank you for the correction 🙌🏼🙏🏼💜
I should probably get glasses😂
Greaat! I was expecting this reaction! it is ok that you also saw the live performance, I hope you can react to: Micdrop Music video and MMA 2019 Full live performance (Dyonisus is in this performance), its worth it :) thanks!!!
So next is Agust D - Agust D
