When I was in college my sister and I would go with a couple of friends (6) to Florida. Two sisters brought a large baked ham and a large chocolate cake. We lived off of that for a week in a room that had a small kitchenette. We brought our own coffee pot, which was an old percolator. It made the best coffee. We had either cake or ham or both with toast and jam I bought there. Then we made ham sandwiches for lunch, with a small grocery haul from the store ( chips, dips, lettuce, tomato, condiments). We would all chip in to buy fresh shrimp at the docks, and I would boil them…which everyone loved until we had to dispose of the shells. Lol. 😂 We had a great time, saved money, had a place right on the beach with a pool and spent our money on necessities like gasoline, clothes and souvenirs. 😊I have even brought my crockpot to rental cabins in the mountains so we could have dinner waiting on us after a long day out. A pork roast, comes in handy for one meal, with instant, cream potatoes, bake and serve rolls and a canned vegetable. Then just leave rest of roast in crockpot overnight in frig for next day to add a bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce for pulled pork sandwiches. Just bring your own potato chips, can of seasoned pork & Beans, and a bag of slaw. You have a meal that would probably cost you around $40.00 if eaten out. I even bring blueberry muffins made from Martha White mix, fresh fruit and yogurt for a breakfast. Have you ever tried the whole turkey Brest at Sam’s that is oven roasted? It is already cooked. You can slice it up, put it into baggies and freeze. I bought a small one and it cost me $12.00. It went for four meals( Thanksgiving, twice for Sandwiches and leftovers after Thanksgiving) for my son and I. Then could bring your air fryer to have frozen sweet potato fries with sandwiches, hot Turkey & cheese( my son only eats hot sandwiches)😅. Serve the fries with a mixture of brown sugar, honey and little butter for dipping. Just some ideas. Loved seeing a wonderful family vacation! 😊
Yep, u and i....I do this EXACTLY the same. My kids always liked it. They knew there was always going to be something they liked and were familiar with. I liked not feeling like crap after eating a week's worth of fast food.❤❤😀😀
When we go out on vacation we eat breakfast at the hotel as late as possible. (I always stay at a hotel with breakfast) We get a piece of fruit to eat in a couple of hours. About 3 or 4ish we have our 1 out to eat meal for both lunch and dinner. Most of the time we have a to go plate and if we get hungry 7 or 8 we eat the rest of the food. Ive even done this overseas. Snacks include nuts or trail mix, chips, and something sweet.
