Hey friends, hope you've had a great week and wishing you a great week to come! Let me know if you enjoyed these semi-homemade dinner ideas and let me know below what is your "go-to" meal for when you are really short on time. And in case you missed it, here are my newest casseroles that I am loving this fall th-cam.com/video/7UM_GHeLqVY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=D9HLeFkknfCtF8UW
I put 3 packs of Knorr’s chicken fried rice in a pot, 3 cups of water, a 12.5 oz can of chicken breast (undrained), 3-4 tsp’s of butter, shake in some soy sauce; turn on medium-high. While that’s cooking, I soft scramble 2-3 eggs and add them to the boiling rice. Pop a lid on, turn off the heat and wait about 5 minutes until it thickens up. 15 minute meal and everyone seems to like it.
I would like to keep seeing the semi-homeade recipes. My husband and I are 68 yrs old and I want some easy quick meals to cook. I usually cook a large meal 3 nights a week and we do left overs in between. I don't feel like cooking big all time and these recipes will help with my laziness I think!🤣😂🙂
I used to love watching that show. She had so many great ideas. I really wish Food Network would come back with the older videos that had substance and not all these game shows and competitions. It's not what it used to be. I want to see some real cooking on that channel! Thanks for sharing...!
I agree Food Network has become very woke like most television. I think Mel would be great on Food Network!! Having a genuine Southern lady who makes down home food with twists!
Yes! I like to learn....I will never need to cook with surprise ingredients in 30 minutes!!! I can access some of the old shows on demand through our hulu+live tv. Loving it
I make manicotti at least once a month for 20 yrs. It is my daughter’s favorite. But I have never cooked my shells. I stuff them, cover with sauce, cover the pan with foil and bake for 1 hour. They come out perfect every time!
Well...actually this footage was from a while back but hey, it will be here again before we know it 😂 thanks so much for watching and I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you must miss him terribly, and I will remember you in my prayers 🙏
I felt like I hit the lottery when I found Sandra Lee. I thought "finally, someone putting it out there how I like to cook" . That's why I keep watching your channel. I think I found your channel thru collaboration maybe a year ago or so. Thank you for being real real.
Exactly 100% feel the same about Sandra ♥️ And thank you so much for your very kind words about me and my channel, I do keep it real and I appreciate you so much for watching 😊
Happy Anniversary to you and Patrick. May God bless you both with many more years filled with happiness and lots of love. Congratulations and God bless you both.
Hello Mama Mel, Thanks for sharing, i always loved Sandra Lees show. Our favorite go to meal is plain old hamburger helper,it's easy and quick especially with a salad or a can of pork and beans. I always like to add a lot of cheese and different seasoning to make it taste better. Ya'll have a blessed and wonderful night and a great week ahead. ❤❤❤Happy Anniversary to ya'll, and God bless y'all ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your quick and easy recipes. After having major surgery I appreciate the ease and leave out what I now no longer can eat, as well as, substituting low fat. Easy peasy……keep ‘em coming.
I loved Sandra Lee … her recipes were always so easy and delicious!! Happy Anniversary to You and Patrick ! All of these recipes look delicious and who doesn’t want shortcuts these days !! Blessings to you all!
I loved Sandra Lee. I have several of her semi-homemade cookbooks. I definitely use some prepackaged to make life easy. With the frozen burritos, I brown some ground meat and put a package of taco seasoning in and put that on top of frozen burritos in a casserole dish and bake for 20 minutes at 350, then put cheese on top and bake 10 more minutes. My family begs me to make this every week. It is so easy and in just over 30 minutes you can have salad and burrito casserole. Love it.
I absolutely LOVE those spice drops. I noticed them the moment they were on the screen. I can only find them around Christmas here and actually looked for them today at Walmart. That baked manicotti looked delicious. Saving it to my recipes.
Love all of these! We already make the first 2. And the last 3 will definitely be getting added to my list. Use of string cheese here was genius. Happy Anniversary 🎉 My husband and I celebrated our 31st in July.
Mel, aside from Julia Childs as a kid, Sandra Lee I thought was fantastic, that program was my all time favorite. I would love to see some recipes like that. Think these that you are sharing are delicious 😋🤤 Can't wait to make that manicotti, yum!! Take xare and God Bless 🙏
I always thought she was so great, the meals, the table shapes, cocktails, and crafts! I loved her show so much, too! And I hope you enjoy the manicotti, thanks so much for watching 😊
Hi Mel! I'm all for short cuts and semi homemade to save time. What a great way to use frozen burritos. I would have never thought of that. I've made a similar version of the KFC bowls and they're delicious. Using string cheese to stuff the manicotti is genius! I'll definitely be trying that. The tostadas look so good. I know I will love them. And I love how quick they come together. The lettuce wraps are so pretty. I need to give them a try. Happy anniversary to you and Patrick!! Thank you so much, Mel, for these time saving recipes and for all of your hard work. You are always appreciated. I hope you and your family have a blessed and beautiful week. 💟
Well... that anniversary footage was from a while back but thank you anyway, it will be here again before we know it 😉 ❤️ 😊 And I'm so glad that you loved these ideas, we all need some short cuts every now and again. Thank you so much for always being here and so kind. I hope you have a blessed week friend 😊
I use my leftover Chili over frozen burritos and top with shredded Cheese. My family loves it. They call it burrito chili casserole. They put sour cream on-top when done and salad on the side.
I loved Semi Homemade with Sandra Lee! And she always the set decorated so cute! Great recipe ideas! Got you beat on the wedding anniversary. My hubs and mine is March 21st, 1981, so we are going strong after 43 years!
I love semi homemade! Sandra Lee is such a sweet soul ❤. I wished she would come back using newer appliances like we use today such as air fryer and fresh food products. She’s the reason I started decorating my table each month. Lol. Love your show BTW 😃
Thank you for these ideas, Mel. You are such a sweet, positive ray of sunshine. You know, we've never purchased those tostadas, but now I am inspired to do so. I guess, I thought they would be stale or something. Now, I am looking forward to trying them. You're the best!
I will be making that manicotti recipe soon. Breakfast for supper is what I like when I am tired after a long day. I usually have bacon already cooked in the freezer. So I fry up some potatoes along with a couple of eggs and reheat the bacon in the microwave and I am sitting down to eat in about 15 minutes.
Momma Mel, I have a little tip for you. Take 2 or 3 damp paper towels and place them underneath your cutting board to keep it from sliding. When you were cutting up that chicken for the lettuce wraps and your board moved , i swear i was holding my breath, hoping you wouldn't get cut. Just looking out for ya. I hope you and Patrick have a wonderful blessed week ahead and sending love from Cumberland County Tn.
I loved watching the Sandra Lee show, lots of great ideas….just like you, Mel!! And..I also loved at the end of her show seeing her “tablescapes”….they were fun to see! Also, I love those spice drops, too…..don’t see them much anymore around here.
I make the burrito enchilada casserole for our fiesta night at a camp I volunteer as camp cook. The kids love it and it's so much simpler than tacos with all the fixings.
Sandy was hilarious. We still watch on the Food Network app. She was so over the top and crazy with her table scapes and her bizarre “ethnic” recipes. I’ll never forget the Kwanza cake with the corn nuts that she kept calling acorns. Thanks for bringing up a wonderful memory. I’ve never had more fun or laughed more watching the Food Network show that I did watching those shows.
Hey, my wonderful husband and I have been married for 31 years as well. That means we got married in 1993, right? I love these quick recipes. I have them in my list of recipes to make for my family. I just enjoy you so much.
Yes 93 and, ...actually this footage was from a while back but hey, it will be here again before we know it 😂 thanks so much for watching 😊 and happy anniversary to you guys too ❤️
Happy Anniversary and thank you for this awesome video! As someone who doesn’t enjoy cooking and isn’t good at it, I love semi-homemade because it feels like something I can actually do!! ❤
Happy Anniversary! I loved Sandra Lee! It was so helpful to have quick meals to put together at the end of a long work day. These are great, thank you!
I made your sun-dried tomato chicken tortellini the other day and we all LOVED it!!! So delicious. I served it with a Caesar salad. Perfect companion for it. I LOVE your channel.
I watched Sara Lee too. I Loved her recipes. Mel, yours look delicious as well and I Love anything that doesn't take Alot of time to put together and these are perfect. Thanks for the Great ideas..❤❤
I love this video. I was a huge Sandra Lee fan, watched all her shows, even have a few of her cook books. I recently found the Hunts pasta sauce and I really like it, and it’s so much cheaper then other sauces.
Definitely do more of these!! I used to love that show with Sandra Lee. I am always busy so recipes like these are a real timesaver. P.S. Nathan gets to come home tomorrow. He looks like a little butterball. He has a tracheostomy but is doing really good.
You're so welcomed, thank you for watching and isn't that just the very best little casserole trick! Another viewer said that she topped hers with queso 😋 I thought that sounded great!
I watched Sandra Lee's shows too 🙂. All the dishes looked good. Please don't judge me yall ~ but my go to meal when I've been out and about is frozen pizza and salad.

My go to is mac and cheese. I add imitation seafood and peas. (Imitation seafood is pretty much the only affordable seafood around here.)
I put 3 packs of Knorr’s chicken fried rice in a pot, 3 cups of water, a 12.5 oz can of chicken breast (undrained), 3-4 tsp’s of butter, shake in some soy sauce; turn on medium-high.
