What made Elvis exceptional and loves by the whole World was his resistance on trending controversy during his time. He loved all people in a time that there was so much hate and division. He embraced those differences that most people in the world run from or are afraid to confront. He challenged those who challenged others. His charisma and dance styles came from Black Men and Women he called family and friends in a time that it did not exist in. He pushed back and walked on stage like a King with his friends and family and didnt care what anyone felt or said about it. He forced change and brought it right to their faces.

Elvis was different from the beginning... his fashion, hair, sideburns, voice, looks, energy, charisma, masculinity.... and that X-factor.. And it is strange that you can watch this Polk Salad Annie again and again, and it remains fresh and exiting

Elvis was just his whole Soul. Beyond Emotional expression..In the 80's & 90's things became too over choreographed..This Elvis Dude is just in the zone with the band and back up singers, and feeling every groove, every kick drum the drummer is chopping. He is just one with the music, in the zone & connected. You have to feel that. It just is!

  • @frigginjiggy
    @frigginjiggy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Elvis would not have changed anything to accommodate the PC culture that has been forced upon us. How do I know? Watch the documentary on Elvis and the black community (2 parts). It will show you just a small sample of the criticism and censorship he had to endure when he first started out.
He was called by all sorts of names including the devil himself. He had groups of people wanting him banned entirely from performing. But he never gave up and he never gave in. He stood his ground firmly.
The freedom with which today's artists can perform is due in large part to one Elvis Presley. As a former professional musician (now retired), I have often said "What came after him, came because of him."

Hey Best One. I just happened to come across your channel a few days ago and I saw you did Elvis vids! I saw a cpl and automatically subscribed! Now I can't get enough of the Elvis videos. They are the only ones I've seen. Elvis is The King! Btw, another Elvis Fun Fact: When Elvis played Vegas, he always did 2 shows a day and sometimes 3! NO Artist before or since has ever done that or could do that and sell out every show. Another EFF: Elvis was the FIRST artist that MADE money for the casinos and hotel(s). They used to use artists with big names to play to get ppl into the casinos. Elvis brought people from all over the world to Vegas so they gave him a Gold Belt as the King of LAS VEGAS.!

For other doc's to watch are Star's who met Elvis ,or Elvis and the black community. You will see the why he's the king of rock and roll. For a request, too me his truly most epic song performances is American trilogy from his aloha from Hawaii 1973 .This song will give you chills and leave you speechless. Keep up the awesome work you been doing. Rock on

👍great reaction, I think the best documentary you can watch is Elvis the searcher it’s quite recent with commentary from Bruce Springsteen and Tom petty starts of with the early Elvis growing up and how music changed over night when he came on the scene of course with the up most respect to Little Richard , Chuck Berry, he simply had the whole package and took a lot of racial abuse from white folk it’s well worth watching also Elvis 56 his story is one of a kind

Elvis's favorite movie with King Creole II was Jailhouse Rock Love Me Tender was okay that was his first movie and then Follow That Dream wild in the country Viva Las Vegas but the rest of them became so formulaic he got bored and Had Creative disappointment but they all were sold out they were money makers because Elvis was not performing on stage at that time that's the only way people could see him so they went just to see him even if the strips or kind of lousy some of them but not all of them then he did The 1968 Comeback Special on television which were really great great reviews feeling very high numbers in the Nielsen ratings. So his manager asked if he wanted to go on tour again because of the success of the television special and so they started touring all over the country and Las Vegas the rest is history!

First of all, thank you so much for your channel. Not only because of the Elvis reactions, but some of my other favorite artists. I was fortunate enough to get to see Elvis live in 1974 and the man put on a show like no other and he is dearly missed. I wish you had been around to see him in person, too, because I know that you would've been just as entertained as I was back then. Whether you react to videos or just his music, keep doing what you're doing, my friend and I'll be right here to watch and listen with you. Just an idea, but my favorite Elvis album is and always will be Live at Madison Square Garden from 1972, so if you get a chance to play something from that, I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I was.

He was making a microphone noise just to be funny there was nothing perverted intended.. Elvis was a personal friend i have lived in Memphis since the early 70's i met him when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest the prize was a day with Elvis. I saw him before he passed we had a short talk i was crying he gave me a kiss on the cheek and said i love ya kiddo i said i love you too E. That was the last time i saw my friend alive again. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. i live on EP Blvd. much love from Memphis Tn. It's just a song no real people that he's talking about. Elvis was a genuine sweet man and i will never forget my friend. He was not vulgar at all period. The music today now that is straight up nasty.

He gave so much in all his shoes. Sometimes he was doing shows like this twice a day! He barely stopped when he was on these tours And he wanted to make sure he gave it his all every performance! And guess what he did to wind down after a show? He sang! He and his backing singers would sit round the piano and sing gospel songs! You want to see that? Look up "Lead Me Guide Me" and find where they are doing exactly this! It's natural and superb!

Great reaction....a couple of answers for you. His shows averaged about an hour with a few exceptions. He never did an encore..he believed in keeping the fans wanting more...the microphone bit in the mouth was to cause feedback as a joke. there are some documentaries out there. They have both fact and fiction. There are few good books about him. Peter Guralnick did a 2 volume biography. “Last Train To Memphis” and “Careless Love: The unmaking of Elvis...Jerry Phillips a friend from the beginning had a nice book called “Me and a Guy named Elvis”.
They are currently in production of a movie now with Tom Hanks as Elvis Manager Colonel Parker and an actor named Austin Butler playing Elvis and due out next November 2021...no name for the movie but it will be along the lines of Bohemian Rhapsody type of biography. It’s being filmed in Australia where they built a set that looks like the showroom from the International from this video.

Not a music video, but vital information. To understand Elvis, you need to understand WHERE he came from. Poorest of the poor. 9yrs old before he owned his 1st pair of shoes. Snuck out his house across train tracks as a young boy to black Baptist churches to sing with choirs during segregation times in the 1950s? who did that? And from that... BAM.. he helped change the way music was made, who'd get credit, and opened up so many doors. Death threats, getting arrested by white gangs and even police were daily obstacles him. Crazy dangerous times. They even tried calling HIM racist to see if they could make him implode. Check this: th-cam.com/video/xd1pXw1DmsA/w-d-xo.html&t

    • @jayviviano109

@depper - Good link you shared. My friend is the one that made that video years ago. To everything you mentioned above I would only add that something many Elvis historians have overlooked or missed over the years is we can go further back than Memphis with his going to visit the black church in 1950s segregated times. We need to go further back years before that, in Tupelo when he was a child.
People like Sam Bell said Elvis was actually living right across the street from him and how *Elvis was part of the black community*.
The myth is that he had to walk to go be around black American musicians, but the reality is *he was living directly among them for some time*.
Sam Bell gave one interview about how Elvis as a kid would be the only white child that would be going with him and his family and friends to the gospel tent revivals.
Of course later when Elvis and his parents moved to Memphis the natural progression for him as a high-schooler was to visit Herbert Brewster's Baptist Church, as you mentioned above.
Extra interesting to history is Herbert Brewster wasn't just a well-known preacher, he was also a legendary Gospel song-writer back in that era and a powerful civil rights activists.
He spoke in many more interviews over the years than just the one on my friends video documentary.
He spoke in a couple interviews about not only Elvis's legit talent, but he also spoke of Elvis's Humanity and Generosity in one of his interviews.
I've always said Herbert Bruster's endorsement and serious respect spoken for Elvis cannot be understated in importance.
Anyway. Agree with your points, just adding some extra info

@@JonBurrows3577 If you have it in your mind to wonder how much of the racist hate in that video was real or recreated then I honestly would recommend researching the actual history of that era. (Not Elvis History...I mean serious time spebt research on subject of "Jim Crow 1950s") People like myself that have background & years researching & writing about that specific era know all too well that it was extremely reap ... and even more so than that video showed.
His video actually only scratched the surface. It barely showed anything compared to what really was going on.
There were mock, symbolic lynchings of Elvis look-alike mannequins and dummies with a rope hung around its neck hung done by crowds of people in various cities and in some college campuses around the country back at that time to symbolize the resentment lot of white folks had for "Elvis singing black music".
Charles Connors (Little Richard and James Browns personal drummer) said after a show one night in Texas the police threw Little Richard and the whole band in jail. He said the next morning when they were released, the police told them - "Go tell your n-loving friend Elvis, that when he comes back to Texas we'll be looking for reasons to put him in jail also".
All that type nonsense & hate was normal day-to-day stuff happening on the regular.
A lot of people have no clue about any of that stuff going on because too much slop historian over the years haven't covered it.
But those of us that research deeper find out there was a whole lot of that on the regular going on.
Honestly even though my friend made that video, I'm not promoting it, I'm not even the one that shared it on this thread. That was Depper.
But his video is only scratching the surface, there is a whole lot more that could be covered on that subject and it would take a much longer video or documentary.

No Elvis would not change for anyone. Just remember it was frowned apon to move like he did in the 50s 60s but he did it his way and thank the Lord he did.

You've got to check out his last two documentaries toward the end of Elvis and then he also made 33 feature films which were actual storylines there were movies but the very beginning the early early Elvis from 1956 and then he got he got drafted at the height of his career in 1956 he served two years in the Army then came back and did feature films then went back on the television special and which became to be known as his comeback where he's actually performing with a live audience and it was a one-hour variety special and it was such a hit he wanted to go back on tour like he did in the early fifties so it was like considered his comeback and then he started in Vegas you should see that response in Las Vegas he was like Supernatural and heater for the rest of his life check out all the Google sites that read a book called me and a guy named Elvis by Jerry Schilling that was because it was his best friend one of them the most trustworthy Source the other books were written by people with we're not is closed except there was one called what happened and get the backstory on that and that was about Sonny West and red West his bodyguards which they came to be known as the Memphis Mafia you can see a lot of Google sites then there is a thing from Hollywood is called lucky stars by meeting Elvis Presley and you see all reactions when people talk about how it was when I met him but there is much more on him but you can start there LOL

Oops I meant to say the 68 Comeback Special on television where he's wearing a black leather jacket it was a 1 hour special you can get the whole thing but I'll know Google it just shows him when he's singing in the black leather jacket with it is a variety to the special if you want to check that out they have to probably buy the CD for that

I saw his last concert he ever did in my city. I was in the nose bleed section. He was a little white spec moving all around. I tell you what, I couldn't see him, but I heard him loud, and clear. His final song was "Hurt," and he shook the building like thunder. I'll never forget that. Check out that song if you like.

First of all, he would not be PC on issues because he wasn't racist and would not agree with how people are treating this country. Elvis would tell people to chill and be real with each other.

If you haven't checked it out yet, American Trilogy from the aloha Hawaii special. It was shown by satellite all over the world with over one and a half billion people Andover 30 some countries, no one to this day has accomplished such a feat, not even close. But you'll get an idea by that song of his incredible vocal range. Plus you'll really get to hear his incredible voice.

Some people believe it may have been as high as 2 billion people watching it which was half the world's population at the time.
Some countries had like a 90 viewership which is insane.

Elvis had to perform 2 shows a day sometimes 3 on a Saturday and Sunday, he would do this for 6 weeks straight with no break, all while his manager was gambling elvis' money away. Elvis was burnt out after doing shows like this, who knows what would and could have happened had elvis lived to sack Tom Parker, he had already talk to and agreed to be managed by the same people who managed led zeppelin, he had plans to rest, get fit and tour the world coming here to the UK first. On his last holiday in 1977 he told his crew his plans but then the unthinkable happened, which was lucky for his manager as he made more money with elvis dead then he would had he lived.his manager showed no emotion or grief losing elvis, Its great to see people like you showing the respect to elvis and showing people that he wasn't someone to ridicule because of his problems, he was an amazing entertainer whose music is still relevant today.

Hi. If Elvis were alive today and performing he wouldn't change a thing about what he did on stage. But then again, he'd be in his 80s.
In the 70s his shows were roughly an hour. Check out the Documentary "Elvis On Tour". It chronicles a 1972 15 city tour. You'll see some excellent performances.
Good luck to you. You have a great channel.
