This is awesome, finally someone from Australia that’s taken the punt! I wanted one of these but wasn’t so sure, now I’m way more confident thanks a million!
@@hoobastanker9 oh… you’ll be waiting ages. I put the order in in August, they sent it to me late November and I got it after Christmas/ Early New Year. Sorry mate, I just saw your comment. I just ordered it straight from AliExpress. Just be mindful that it takes a while. Then when once it’s sent, it gets held up in Sydney for a while. I’ve done a follow up vid addressing some Issues that I’ve encountered.
Being a knockoff...wood is wood, paint is paint. With the high end parts on it, it technically is a dime bag guitar. Slash's signature gibson was based on a knockoff les paul so technically that signature guitar is a knockoff of the knockoff. Then again who really cares except fanboy bedroom guitarists or guitar companies themselves? As a luthier/tech I could gaf less. If it's good its good.
I 100% agree. I have an old Maya Les Paul copy. Super cheap, but I love it. I think that pickups are what will make the biggest difference. Other hardware just makes it more reliable and easier to manage (tuners, trem/bridge, potentiometers). I’m not saying that I wouldn’t knock back a legit brand name guitar, but I AM saying that cheap guitars can sound good.
@@doknox so what’s the primary difference between a guitar made in the USA and one made in say China? Wouldn’t it be the wood, the paint and the labor (time) that goes into the body?
@@troyskinnard1393 parts, paint, time spent on labor. Sometimes the wood is almost not even wood. More like a driftwood. Lol. Plus america way overcharges for everything.
It's pretty easy to make a case just use the styrofoam & box and line the inside with whatever material and go over the outside with some super thin wood. It works really good im going to make it video about it so the next time you get a guitar don't throw away the styrofoam or box. That's if you want to use it as your pattern
Yeah mate, it’s a beautiful guitar. And for the price, they’re incredible value. But, to get it to a place where it plays well and stays in tune, takes a little bit of work. But would I buy another? Most certainly! It’s the customisation that really appeals to me.
Hi! Fisr of all, thanks for the video. Im am interested on buy one of these Did you return it and they sent it back as it is now? and ¿can yo change features when you buy it? Like the steel frets. Thanks in advance and congrats. It looks beautiful Ill keep an eye on your channel Cheers
Thanks for the positive words! 👍 I ordered it without electrics and the got a guitar tech to do the upgrades. But ‘Guitar Store’ put in the stainless frets at my request. They were an additional cost. They were very helpful. The only difficulty was in the translation of our languages.
Hey man. How much work was there with installing the Gotoh GE1996T? Was it a simple drop in replacement or did the bridge posts require extra drilling to fit the bushings? I'm thinking of getting a GE1996T for my build.
It involved a bit of work. It certainly wasn’t a drop in replacement. Trem cavity needed touting, Posts needed relocation and the string retainer screws needed shortening. But the main problem was that where the bridge posts needed to go, went through a cavity where wires went, that had to be filled and reinforced.
hello, can i ask you which gotoh 1996 tremolo do you exactly have? i ordered the same guitar and i am not sure which one to choose. there are different models out there "Gotoh GE1996T-40-B FR-Style Tremolo" or "Gotoh GE1996T-36-CB FR-Style Tremolo".
I liked it, but to make it better, it requires some upgrades from the poor quality components. Upgrade pickups, bridge and tuners for a start. Subscribe so you can see the next video of what to look out for.
Mate, I totally understand your concern. There are certainly scammers out there and it’s wise to be wary. I paid just under $500 for the guitar and case, and I was willing to take the gamble. I chose ‘Guitar Store’ because people in this page were talking positively about it. There are other pages with dodgy so being names, so I’d steer clear of those ones. The person I dealt with at Guitar Store was named Liu and he was quite good to deal with. I also paid via PayPal for the added protection.
Neck is twisted. Why do I say that ? : 1) Look at the different string angles at the headstock, lower side strings virtually rubbing against the tuner studs, higher-side strings a lot further away from the studs. 2) distance of low E and high E from the edge of the neck is different along the whole length. High E could easily roll off the edge while playing. 3) the strings don't line up properly over the pickup pole pieces. If it's a bolt-on neck, might be fixed by loosening the bolts and giving it a knock in the right direction and re-tightening. If it's a neck-thru, it's not fixable.
This is awesome, finally someone from Australia that’s taken the punt! I wanted one of these but wasn’t so sure, now I’m way more confident thanks a million!
Yeah mate, I say go for it. Just know that it will take some work and upgrades to make it decent. But the shape and colours are fantastic.
Amazing, totally up for upgrading certain parts, how long did postage take? I see people complaining about waiting a few months in the U.S

Guitars do not have input jacks. That's an output jack.
Why does it matter if you call it an imput jack or output jack??
