  • The AOS Supernovas have finally arrived!
    Took them out for a test flight and they are very smooth and cold enough to easily touch them after flying. So the efficiency claim seems valid and the power is really nice...
    Also big thanks to RUSH for supporting me with the best antennas out there :))
    This was a small practice run to test my drones for FAI WDRC 2023 in Korea next week.
    Update: Ending up 51st overall and 32nd in qualifying :-) • FAI WDRC Korea 2023 51...
    Also had luck and got floodlight flying thanks to SV Adelsried.
    Some videos from past races to come soon.
    Setup:
    AOS Supernova 1980KV
    RFPV SuperBrezn (our custom 6mm 56g frame)
    MAMBA Reactor 66A
    MAMBA MK4 F722 MINI FC
    HDZero Race V3 VTX
    ELRS EP1
    Gemfan MCK V3
    Tattu R-Line V5 1400mah 6S
    Radiomaster Boxer ELRS
    HDZero Goggles

    Update from WDRC: the Supernovas have performed very well so far. Come out warm (not hot at all) from 3 laps on this monster full send track (place 32 in qualifying)… So thanks @ChrisRosser. I would consider the Supernova pretty competitive even for racing…
    Trend here on Motors is actually not really obvious. There are also top pilots going for very light setups with smaller motors.

    Can you take off a bell and measure the stator height and width? curious what size it actually is. if its not a 2207like chris says, it shouldnt be sold as such IMO

    • @ArvinFPV
      @ArvinFPV  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      I think its more like an 2307.5 not measured and Chris asked not to provide detail figures. As weight its pretty comparable to a 2207 and performance is probably slightly better, I dont really care about the exact dimensions.

    • @chrisbee5481
      @chrisbee5481 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pretty sure it's a 22.5x7.5
      Half a millimeter wider and taller. That's kinda cheating calling it a 2207. Of course it has more power 😅

    • @redacted1946
      @redacted1946 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The physical dimensions don't matter. Thrust stand testing speaks for itself. I will be curious to hear results from other pilots that do proper thorough testing but the last thing i care about is the size of the motor

    • @chrisbee5481
      @chrisbee5481 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@redacted1946 never heard such nonsence. They you might as well get a 2808 motor and it will have more thrust. If that is all that matters to you. A certain size and weight for a certain class is important for consistency and competition. Where are you going to draw the line? Ony guy will race 2207. Then the next one comes with a 2208 and is faster. Then comes the next with 2308 and beats them again.
      Chris Rosser can make whatever eh wants, but dont call it a 2207 and say it is faster and more powerful, if it's just cheating with a bigger stator

    • @redacted1946
      @redacted1946 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@chrisbee5481 the size does not determine if it's faster. and larger motor are typically lower in kv. he didn't say his motor was "fast". he provided data to prove it. Ofcourse it needs 3rd party validation but the size is irrelevant. it has no bearing on flight performance. if bigger motors are better why arent all top racers running huge motors? why has it taken years for the standard to shift from 2205 to 2306 to 2207? you can slap 2808's on a 5" right now so why not do it?

    im sure they fly great being rcinpower but how well do they crash?

    • @ArvinFPV
      @ArvinFPV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So far not really easy to judge for me. For "normal" racing crashes I did not have any damage so far but also only low number of crashes. I killed two bells in a pretty nasty crash into concrete and rocks at full throttle though. But I do not think there are any motors around that would have survived this... In general the motors look very good quality and sturdy...

    On the UK vendor websites this motor seems only to be rated up to 5s -is it ok for 6s?

    • @FlownByDjeden
      @FlownByDjeden 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On Chriss Rosser's website (one of the people that made this motor possible) it states that 5-6S can be used. Also, I'm sure that in this video 6S is used judged from the sound, video description and flight performance (sooo fast).

      The prop tip speed is a little too fast on 6s. (close to 700mph) that's why it can draw 60 amps per motor. You could scale the throttle back to 90% to get more efficient tip speeds of 620mph. Racers will want the extra top end torque. Freestylers may not use full throttle and would prefer more throttle feel at 90%.

    How is possible that you have them the same day they were anounced and nobody else do? Not even showing the actual drone, just a picture of the miniature... lying ?

      He probably got them under the table from the first batch. He has many sponsors. Pro pilots generally get a lot of free gear from manufacturers directly. Not everyone is a consumer that just buys parts online. And clearly he didn't get them day 1 but had them for longer. He was probably under NDA and agreed to only show this video when the announcement was made. Like basically all fpv product launches
