This live performance happens to be one the most commonly requested (iron maiden) videos for music reaction channels on youtube. I think this is one of the best examples to use to introduce new people to Iron Maiden. It contains great "buildup", melodies, great vocals and amazing crowd participation. Might also be the reason why it's so popular on Spotify.
N9t sure if anyone has mentioned yet, but in my humble opinion, the 1982 Hammersmith show is iron maiden live at their peak, Bruce's voice is on point. Most of the show is on youtube. Highly highly recommend. You may have already watched a song or two from it. 22 acacia avenue and the prisoner are immaculate man, immaculate. Not to take anything away from this show, it's amazing also
I’ve heard this song live and it’s like being handed an average tasting cold beer or wine on a hot summer day. You’ve drunk it so many times before but damn it goes down so well anyway! 😊👍🏼
Probably the best Fear of the Dark performance by Iron Maiden. Definitely better live than studio. Bruce really emphasis the K in Dark. I've seen this one more than a dozen times. A great Rock in Rio song.
The Maiden song that has been covered the most, by a wide margin, so that says something. Nowhere near his best, but another in a long line of stellar Steve Harris songs.
If u can, check out the video of this song in Curitiba, Brazil, 2022, it's a video about 2minutrs from above the crowd, is insane how the crowd gets involved, I was there and was amazing!!! Nice video!!! Sorry for the bad English, not my native language!
When the album 'Fear of the dark' was released in 1992, the title track was not released as a single ('Be quick or be dead'... 'Wasting love'... 'From here to eternity' were the singles off the record... Iron Maiden were still on tour when a live album 'A real live one' (recorded in 1992) was released in 1993, and 'Fear of the dark (live)' was released as a single - it got a huge response, going to #8 on the UK singles chart and became a fan favorite in concert. Dave Murray has said that 'Fear of the dark' is one of his favorite songs to perform live... it always gets the crowd going crazy, and has been played at (almost) every Iron Maiden tour since, even w/ Blaze Bayley on vocals. On the Iron Maiden 'best of' 2002 compilation album 'Edward the Great', the 'Rock in Rio' live version of 'Fear of the dark' was on the disc... The live version of 'Fear of the dark' on the 2009 live CD 'Flight 666' was another stellar recording from Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2008.
I guess Fear of the Dark is the most commonly known and most popular Maiden song overall. They play it on every show. This song can be used as a tool to check if someone is a real Maiden fan. It they claim this is their favorite song, you can tell they only heard this one and maybe Run to the hills. 😅
Going to see them live in Southern California next week. Can't wait, they're amazing. If you haven't, check out their live 1982 Hallowed be Thy Name 🤟. Sidenote, they are better listening to in live videos. One of the few bands better live. Enjoy .
Other live gigs for after you finished Maiden England, Maiden Donington 92, and 'A real live dead one'. After you hear the Final frontier album you should check out En Vivo :)
It s a fan song and crowd like to sing it loud. That s why it s so high in papular maiden songs lists. There are many other great songs which maiden thought not available for concert participation For example alexander the great
People say this vision is the best on I really do love it but the one ☝️ on the Death on the Road Tour is a classic as well that’s the next live album it goes with The Dance Of Death Album which I hope you next review
I think this is at the top because it's probably the most iconic version of this song live. That being said, I think the En Vivo version is better (which you will no doubt react to) because of the sound quality and the crowd. Not to say that the sound quality is bad on Rock in Rio, it's just a completely different vibe. Flight 666 and En Vivo have a very similar mix, sound crystal clear. I gotta say the only other song I'm looking forward to you reacting to on this DVD is Sanctuary. Another great example of how a song that wasn't originally sung by Bruce is made so much better with him on vocals. Crowd participation is absolute perfection as well. Songs such as Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Hallowed be thy Name, The Trooper, and Run to the Hills are songs that are in a lot of live shows, so they kinda lose significance BUT they're still epic regardless. Definitely worth listening to them though cause it sounds like versions of songs that would be on the studio album (e.g. for this video, it's what Fear of the Dark would sound like if it was on Brave New World). Rambling now, but I'm definitely looking forward to you getting to Dance of Death now! Some fresh and new songs for your ears. Keep it up Hurm!
I usually don't like reaction channels but You're different from many poseurs on youtube. It's nice to see someone really enjoiyng maiden these days. It's kinda nostalgic (i'm 34 and I started listen to maiden 20y ago : D ). How old are You btw? Also dude, You have listen to this version on the other channel already like two months ago : D
I just like listening to music my guy. I will be 28 in November. Grew up listening to mostly hip-hop and grunge/ post Grunge stuff so I love exploring what I don't know. I did not realize that lol. I could have sworn I only did the studio version of this song.
@@Hurm1t yeah, I've been growing up listening to Maiden as well as some grunge (especially Pearl jam and Alice in chains), Pink Floyd or Lenny Kravitz. Weird combintation but well, screw genres. Music is just good or bad : D Btw I'm starting now the band with all these influences above. Who knows, maybe one day You will react to this : D Greetings from Poland! (Btw check out the history of Iron Maiden being on polish wedding in 80s or react to their infamous playback show)
Didn’t you react to it in your previous channel? One of the greatest Songs ever for me! I don’t know why you don’t like it! It’s epic. Anyway, it’s subjective.
Another song of theirs that’s better live! Still I don’t fully get the orgasmic response from the crowd! Not just here but everywhere they play it!! Easily the most overrated Maiden tune in my opinion but hey … the fans seem to love it! Cool!
It's a fabulous song and live the crowd participation is fantastic, but it's way to over hyped, and played way to much. I wish they would play From Here to Eternity or Afraid to Shoot Strangers live instead.
Crowd participation is always strong in this one. It is one of the reasons why it is fans favorite live.

For God's sake what earthly reasons do we have not to love this masterpiece?
It is an iconic song both live and in studio.
It’s a fan favorite, easy melody and easy chorus, so live it just works and everyone can get involved.
I was present at that concert. More than three hundred thousand people! Incredible!!

A great Rock in Rio song.
A real live one version is much better than this one. It is faster, harder and the crowd connection with Bruce is insane.
@@amaderuelo couldn't agree more
for me Donington 1992 is the best !
The Maiden song that has been covered the most, by a wide margin, so that says something. Nowhere near his best, but another in a long line of stellar Steve Harris songs.

In fact, you haven't reacted to the album version of the song. Should do so, it's worth for some parts!

And beast over Hammersmith. In my opinion their best one.

The studio version is better.
