  • The fifth video in my coverage of the PVMAC Big Jolt all electric RC event is this Freewing A-6 Intruder. These little foam EDFs fly awesome and this particular one had a custom Corsair Nut weathering job on it which really made it stand out. I have Big Jolt coverage on my blog at thercgeek.com/BigJolt15.

    Wow!! Good flying.. You don't see to much of the A-6 but Frewing did a great job..

      @Thercgeek  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PatBALEX Agreed, Freewing captured the lines of the A-6 excellently and the airplane flies great from what I understand. Not surprising given that it's proportioned like a pattern airplane.

    Number two of my all-time favorite airplanes, sorry Number one is the Thud, worked those at Korat, 1971/72.

      It wasn't sleek like an F-4, sports car like, as a A-4, more like a pickup truck of the attack force, it held its own beauty. My F-105s, they had the look of a fighter, sat tall, looked like it was ready to go off to war and fight.

      I’m with you, I’ve always like the looks of the thud.

    Do you have down elevator trimmed in for full flap landing or does it need up elevator?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know if there's any elevator mix required with flaps on this one. My recommendation would be to try the flaps at altitude with no mix and see what it needs and then set the mix accordingly between flights. If it feels ok when you try it, the feel free to land with the flaps, otherwise land with 0 flaps until the mix is set right.

    Hye sir.. I loved watch your flying video..i just want ask an opinion from you..i just start edf flight..for now,i fly much with fw F16 70mm..what the best from freewing brand 80mm edf that u suggest..easy to fly and easy to handle in the sky except for Avanti..i my mind rite now is L39,sabre F86,A6 intruder, and mig-21,or fms Bae Hawk 80mm..hope u can help me with that..thanks

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Of the list you have there, I'd say the FMS hawk and the L-39 are probably the best next step jets. I've not flown either of them, but I've heard very good things about both. They also look to have really good power too.

    Do you know what power system was in this? I have one of the original molds (with the foam triangle no less!) and the original outrunner/12-blade. Plenty of power but the acceleration leaves a lot to be desired and this one looks like it nails it. I'm wondering if it has the Freewing inrunner power system or if it's a custom power system.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the stock power system.

    I have one also. The plane has a great flight envelope. Almost lands itself with a proper landing setup. That's the trick with most of these jets. Setup, Keep some power on, let it sink and flare. Very nice flight. I flew mine on the now closed runway of Grumman at Calverton. Got a nice pic on the runway with tower in background. I belong to a club that has ex employees of grumman. My friend Joe worked on making the film Flight of the intruder. He was the in between of the movie and grumman. I almost had one of the models that was used in the film. Once again -A day late and a dollar short. lol. Checkout my channel.Nice flight and video. ...

    Oct 24th, 1972 an A-6 crashed on the flight deck killing 6 and injuring many. a scary night when your job is working on the flight deck.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that’s crazy! Every naval aviator I know has said that night traps were the scariest thing they’ve ever done.

    • @thevietnamvet
      @thevietnamvet 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RC Geek scary for flight deck crew also. Image no moon night and all you have is flashlights to go though all your signals and to see what's going on.

    notice the wind none ...notice the landing slow slow slow ...notice the no bounce and short rollout ...smh and guys complain about how hot it flys and how the retracts suck and how its nose heavey a million excuses for not being able to fly SLOW pilots fly fast because they fear the plane will drop out of the sky like a stone well that was a carrier landing and the video speaks for itself when I get a new jet i start off on it by flying slow and then going slower not full thottle 2and a half minutes and hoping for the best in the last minute
    great video ....

      +Johnny Rabuse I agree that it is a great flying plane!! The CG can be adjusted on a way to make it fly however you want... it is pretty fast too!!
