Great book list, many of which are on my university reading list (Future Media Production at the School of Digital Arts, Manchester Metropolitan University - a UK-equivalent to an Ivy League school). I will add those you recommend that are not on my university list to my personal list and get through as many as I can. I have ADHD so I find listening to the audio book whilst reading along in the Kindle version very helpful (but expensive, as I have to buy the book twice).

Hopefully when you read it like this you retain the information better :) thanks for watching!

Brother just go get started in Hollywood. A film school in UK is not going to get you there it’s going to add extra work and time when you could’ve started younger and time is the lost important key in this work.

I own or have read almost all of these.
I don't always agree with Mamet's creative arguments, but his insights about the importance of "telling it in the cut" are irrefutable.
I'd also recommend _A Declaration of Independent Filmmaking_ by Mark & Michael Polish as well as _How I Made 100 Movies In Hollywood and Never Lost a Dime_ by Roger Corman.

Awesome. I noted down your recommendations. Mamet has strong opinions :) I admire that about him. Even when not fully agreeing - I bet you can relate :)

Which one is the best book for an film editer In the blink of an eye or Art of the cut?

    • @cttp

They're completely different so I would say both. In the blink of an eye is a bird's eye view on the art of editing itself. And it's a very enjoyable, easy read.
Art of the cut is more specific and gives you a lot of examples of how different editors work. It's a more challenging read but there's definitely a lot of value there.
