    The pokeball thing wasn't really BK's fault. Parents need to supervise their kids when playing with toys, especially kids that was way too young to even have thin plastic anyway. It's not fair that every kid had to sent back their toys just because some parents were stupid and didn't look after their babies properly

    • @skittlemilks1614
      @skittlemilks1614 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Still should have put holes. They share some blame. A lot of parents have kids of varying ages so one toy that’s safe for one of them is not for the other. Kids aren’t known for having the best judgment, so an older kid might let the younger one play with a toy not suitable for them, or leave the toy in a place accessible for the younger one. Parents are human, not gods. While parents definitely need to watch their kids, It’s unreasonable to expect parents to monitor every single little thing kids do. Simply putting breathing holes would have avoided all of this to begin with.

    I think, iirc, McDonalds also did a Pokemon promotion way back when, too. I remember the Poke Ball being similarly designed, but the toys inside were plush like beany-babies. Actually, now that I think about it, I seem to recall McDonalds also doing a "Teeny Baby" toy lineup for their happy meals at one point back then. I remember getting the squirrel from it; I still have that little guy. I have to wonder about the Step-It, meanwhile...maybe the reason the Step-It gave kids blisters might have been due to the material used in the wristband; like, maybe it was a certain chemical or combination used in the...I guess it looks like latex...of the band? Maybe it had a material found in certain fabrics that can cause allergic reactions? That's the best I can gather, honestly. :/

    I’m gonna be really honest Strider, I like a lot of your content, but the exaggerated hyper-criticism of things you obviously have disdain for makes it a bit insufferable for me to sit through. 😣 I had to stop during the Minions segment. It’s fine that you don’t like them and find them annoying, but at least respect the fact that you’re not the Target audience, and the intended target audience adores them. I personally at times find SpongeBob obnoxious and annoying and think as a whole he’s been overhyped and marketed to death, but I respect how much he’s loved by his fanbase.
    And with all due respect regarding the tragedy connected, those “crappy Pokémon toys” were far from crappy. Everyone on the school bus had at least 5 or more of those “crappy toys” and we were playing with them and trading them for months. They were so popular that they were brought back to Burger King (minus the balls) and even held a weekly trading night at participating restaurants. I traded a pile of the cards that each toy came with to a kid for a talking Pikachu!
    During that time when I was struggling with a couple of classes, a student teacher who tutored me would actually purchase those toys and give them to me as a reward for doing a good job. 🙂 I still have my complete collection of those Pokémon toys, and they bring me joy every time I look through them, especially the Geodude keychain with movable arms, the light up Mewtwo which made my fellow fifth graders jealous, the super cute beanbag set (not to be confused with the ones from KFC), and of course all 3 talking Pikachus.
    Sorry to vent, but as a fellow neurodivergent who happens to have an encyclopedic knowledge and experience with both fast food toys and 90’s pop culture, I felt I had to say something. 🤷‍♀️

If you think your child can fit the toy in its mouth and it’s not old enough to know better then that’s simply bad parenting. Common sense goes a long way but the cliche that “it’s not so common” is unfortunately so true. People would rather blame it on the company because ya know “BiG cOmPaNy BaD” and the consumer does no wrong whatsoever lmao.

Example the pokemon shenanigans, while it's tragic of the child losing a life, I blame mainly the parent for not keeping an eye on their kids cause the argument can be said the same of : what if your kid got a plastic ball and choke on it? I won't lie, I feel like some of these recalls are also due to the parents not watching over their kids.
    I'm sorry, but let's be real, a 13 month old BABY does NOT need a toy that's not intended for babies! And everyone knows how babies and toddelrs stick anything and everything in their mouths, noses, or face in general.
    Just watch and/or educate your kids (the latter if they're old enough to understand what you're saying, even if it's just "don't eat that"), and make sure that anything dangerous is out of reach...
    I have some of these Pokemon toys, and I am still alive because I know to not stick them in my mouth! Of course, I wasn't a toddler, but anywho...

The Toys clearly said, "3 years & up" and last I checked 13 months younger than 3 years old. The child dyeing was clearly not Burger King's fault and why should they have recalled it. I never return my kid meal Pokeballs, I still have them all. As for the other two case, you never gave the ages or how the toy harmed them. So, we must assume that they were younger than 3 years old and the same thing happened, considering that all the Pokeball toys later had holes in them.

    With toddlers it’s basically only toys larger than their mouth that can not be broken and are not concave (smothering hazard). And even those toys are not supposed to be left with children unless supervised.
    Almost any toy can become a danger to a curious child (some much more than others) so it’s so crazy to me when people let their kids just have toys out of sight.

    I don't think any toys at Fast Food restaurants should be recommended for under 5's let alone under 3's. The moneymakers are 7 and over franchises so why make toys available for younger?
    Also some common sense needs to be taken from parents. Check what you're giving children. The Shrek glasses is definitely knowledge the manufacturer should have not made them but when a toy can be played with parents need to make the call "Can my child play with this?“
