No one talks of our own Pandurang Khankhoje but everyone knows Norman Borlog and Green revolution.
Ras bihari bose, arvind ghose, subhash chandra bose, sachin sanyal, udham sing, kanhere, savarkar, balvant fadake, khudiram bose etc. hundreds of forgotten heros should be honoured. It will be our foolishness to forget them.
You did not mention Chnadra Shekhar Azad, Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Ram Prasad Bismil and many more. So shall we conclude that you have forgotten about them? You don't consider their contribution to the independence efforts? Don't assume that people are incompetent. People know who has contributed to independence efforts.

How can it be concluded that congress people are communist? If people related to National Congress contributed to Indian independence efforts and historians documented that, that doesn't make them communist or "congressi". Facts can not be denied. Nehru has made some bad decisions and some good decisions, just Modi or Manmohan Singh. We should not hate someone for wrong reasons.

He was a hardcore socialist and blind believer of ahimsa that he was a critic of army, he rejected UN's offer for a permanent membership and gave it to chinese and we're still suffering because of it, we all know how irresponsible he was in Indo-Sino war. if only he had balls to take some hard decisions for greater good his party would have been the biggest party in indian history. congress is the sole responsible for what happened here and what's happening here. because of their incompetency we're still suffering and now the party who is responsible for countless riots and emergency is saying the democracy is in danger?? only a delusional can support them.

This is very interesting topic covered by the author. I wish this topic requires more intensive research at grassroots level. There were various streams involved in the freedom struggle and these used to be sense of cooperation among these streams. One such stream is related to role of various Saints of various streams who participated directly in the freedom moment and also blessed their devotees to go for freedom struggle. Reference is invited to one such great saint - Udiya Baba who himself participated in Bang Bhungh Andolan and later on devoted his life in the spirituality. There are three books containing the account of Udiya Baba and his devotees who were freedom fighters including some of them as Krantikaris. Udiya Baba encouraged his devotees to dedicate individual life for cause of nation and freedom struggle.
The books are Hamare Sri Maharaj ji and Udiya Baba key Sansmaran vol I & II.
I wishes Sanyal ji to take notice of books on Udiya Baba. My own family has been part of this stream.

Bengal Famine / Genocide British maalik ke liye Shyama Prasad Mukherjee ( grandpa ) ne proactive steps liya thaa calling freedom fighters as "Anti-National"
Mukherjee wrote a letter to Sir John Herbert, Governor of Bengal as to how they should respond to "Quit India" movement. In this letter, dated 26 July 1942 he wrote:
"Let me now refer to the situation that may be created in the province as a result of any widespread movement launched by the Congress. Anybody, who during the war, plans to stir up mass feeling, resulting internal disturbances or insecurity, must be resisted by any Government that may function for the time being"
