hiya mate, I complete agree with you that the super talented and awesome Natasha has no replacement :) just to make sure that there is no misunderstanding, I hope everyone understands that Sarah was never meant to be a replacement for Natasha in any ways since Sarah's main role is as a project coordinator (who joined months before Natasha's exit was even announced) while Natasha was the video editor/designer/cameraman.. the only similarity is that they are both cute and talented non-Japanese girls who sometimes featured/will feature in TC videos so yeah not much point in comparing the two :D It seems like you have watched a lot of past TC videos and are good at analyzing facial expressions and body language mate! do you have advice to appear less shy on the camera? (I just started making some japan videos myself and would love to hear if you have any tips, thanks :))
Great first video with Sarah! This was definitely interesting and I'd like to see more dialect related content. The school that's advertised seems pretty legit, just wish I had $1000 bucks laying around that I could drop it on something like that
As soon as I saw Sarah she looked very familiar to me, sort of " déjà vu" Then I realized why... she looks a lot like Chelsea Peretti (Gina in Brooklyn Nine-Nine) She seems nervous (normal) and shy, but I think she can blend in. 👍🏻 Welcome!
I literally know a lot of kansai-ben through detective conan..... I used to watch that a lot when I was younger lolol. My mom always scolded me if I said smth in kansai bec I'm not even from Osaka area
@@Amit-id2zx oops guess you are correct. Used to watch it obsessively since I was 11 years old or something. I dropped after episode 830 something or so. Maybe time to pick it back up
Wow, I didn't expect to find this. I also learnt what little I know from Hattori and Kazuha from Detective Conan. His accent is so much stronger than her's, in my opinion.
That must be the equivalent to us in latinamerica growing up watching shows dubbed in mexico lol As a kid I used to say mexican words when I'm from chile and we use different ones. Like Periodico instead of Diario (Newspaper), or Emparedado instead of Sandwich/Pan

三重has it good, they're in both 関西 and 東海. FYI, あかん is more common than just 関西, it's common in at least many dialects around 中部. あほ is used commonly in 三河弁.
Mie is kind of a funny one. It kind of both is and isn't in Kansai depending on who you ask. It's usually considered to be part of Chubu/Tokai. But the dialect is almost indistinguishable from Kansai-ben, especially on the Nara side. (I lived right on the border between Nara and Mie)
Just ran across this video after my Nagoya-ben on the latest video! My favorite phrase of my boss was (I could be doing this in the wrong romaji) “doyouimin” which is basically “what do you mean?” I was the only American on the team and we had a lot of fun with language... so we might say “three-nine des” to mean “thank you” since of course “three nine” is “san kyu” which is close to “thank you”. Sure it’s stupid, but that’s what made it fun for us! ;)
So I recently got the remastered version of 二ノ国 because I don't have my PS3 here in Japan, and シズクspeaks in Kansai-ben so I managed to guess the simple Kansai-ben
I studied some Japanese before I came to Japan. I was placed in Kyoto Prefecture on the JET Programme. I wanted to test it out around the village I was living in. After a series of 'maido's and 'okini's, I decided I needed to study more.
Welcome Sarah not bad for your first vlog. Must of been done before Emma get her hair cut. Didn't know any not very good at language's lol. 😃😍💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👋👋👋
I didn't know any of it, but I heard most of those... because Azumanga Daioh. At first, I mostly didn't understand what was going on when I first watched it... holy crap, I think it's something like 20 years ago now. After a few years and learning a whole lot more about japanese culture, I watched it again and then realized how many cultural cues I was missing to understand the jokes. Osaka, the character, talking with kansai dialect, but at the same time having a slow, absentminded personality... opposite to the stereotype. Also, the whole nandeyanen thing in manzai comedy. th-cam.com/video/dtKgBZ0MVEw/w-d-xo.html
5:31 I didn’t know you stand on the left in Kanto for the escalator...Maybe I’m very use to standing on the right in the UK, standing on the left feels weird.
As an American, a similar custom surprised me when I visited London and took it's subway system. I'm used to walking in hallways as if driving on a road (this is how I was taught in school), so I was confused when in a left-side-driving country a sign said to keep right in the corridor between platforms. I suppose the custom in the UK comes from how you are (supposed to) walk against the traffic if walking or running on a street that vehicles use.
Tohoku-ben next pleaaaaaaaaaase! It's my favorite and for some reason even tho Christ Broad lives in Tohoku, none of the people in the videos speak it. Not even Ryotaro or Natsuki :(
Idiot in Kansai dialect is easy to remember. If I correctly remember Finnish Prime Minister Esko Aho used to visit Japan in Year 1993. It must funny moment to Japanese, when they heard last name of Finnish Prime Minister.
Hi! I have lived in Kyoto for 3 years and I have sort of become known as the Kansai-Ben guy around here. I'd love to be a part of anything you guys do with Kansai! This video was awesome by the way hahaha
Nice quiz, but giving the answer before the girls can guess must be a typo right? (I don't know shows the answers in romaji, but the kana seems to be the normal japanese)
What kind of Japanese words/sentences would you like to know? Please let us know 😊
How do you say "where's my money"?
Too advanced for me lol I am a real beginner in Japanese.
All of them.
None of them, my level is konnichiwa and sayonara words 😁
I’d like to know how to order local beer/sake at a bar 😇

I think my favorite Kansai-ben words would be chau and omoroi. They’re short for chigau and omoshiroi respectively.
