Then your dad is cool. I saw WY a few times in the early 80s. Most oddly at Totnes Civic hall in deepest Devon. I think they were supporting The Only Ones. WY were great and very cool band. I still have this original single and the follow up.
ive just framed a Wasted Youth poster of ill Remember You that ive had for past 35 years or so folded up that I *think* I found in my first squat in Mornington Crescent, London NW1 , a squat that had 2 weeks left before eviction and was given to me by Simon 'psychedlic' Jones...who had a nice old Fender Jaguar... in early 90's , used to visit a squat to jam where some of Wasted Youth members were living in Swiss Cottage(* must have been Flesh For Lulu's squat ) ... nice big house that was .... those were the days..... days of FREEDOM !!! what went wrong?

Am I right in saying I saw WY Support The Birthday Party @ The Venue in Victoria? Ironically, I now live in Australia. I think Drugs & Prison were the only reasons WY were not more successful. Please discuss.

Andy was always friendly and supportive and a few of us hung out together with Andy and Ken. I think the last time I saw him we were talking between sets at the Music Machine with Wasted Youth. RIP Andy Scott.
Kept in touch with Elaine mostly through Facebook. We're from Nottingham and she's spent time up here when she was younger. Only met him the once but he was grooving down at the front!

Rocco did his bit to become a daytime TV reality TV show star, having tried to open a hotel outside Barcelona a couple of years ago...you can guess how it went. I have lots of fond memories of hitching around to see WY.
MG, how time flies!!! Seems like only yesterday I was a teenage follower of WY. I remember back in in '82 after befriending Rocco Barker, being invited down to Canning Town as a young 18 year old with my then 'blonde' g/friend and being put up woth Rocco and his then G/F, Sue and us being taken to watch them at the infamous BridgeHouse the night of the stripper. Rocco & his G/F were so hospitable, something that will remain wit me for ever. (Good karma to ya Rocco!!!) . Check out their WnW CD.
This just reminds me of all the stuff all the 'now' bands are trying to go for even if they don't realize it. "they pre-dated the goth scene" that little bit is funny. if you think about it they weren't really goth, new wave, or whatever. wish we had more from them.

Great track by a great band. Saw them many times in the early 80's (Kingston Poly!) and always thought they could and should have been huge. True that this tune is not representative of their 'live' sound it shows how versatile they were. The ''Wild & Wandering' album had some great songs and is indeed under-rated but IMO the production is pretty lame. It never really works if both band and producer are on that shit. @MordaciousFilms Ok I get your point, but Wasted Youth wasný generic for it´s time, and still I don´t believe they´re "bland", their song have a lot of power and rawness, and of course you don´t need to like them but calling them bland is a whole other deal.

Judging from the meandering prose of my first post, I was clearly internetting after having returned home from a saucy night out in a Seattle to which I was a very new resident, with no friends yet. Definitely not one of my best moments, but it spawned a delightful discourse, and for that, I am happy.
