      @Thoth0Amon i have a very strong feeling. It might have to do with the lack of contrast when it comes to potholes and depth perception for which it will need better cameras pointed more downwards as well as multiple cameras close to each other, facing the same direction to create better depth perception.
      It also needs a self wiping mechanism so that inclement weather doesn't blind it if they're going to continue to use vision only

    I drive a 305 mile trip from NJ to by Canadian border. On the Thruway it’s really good. Passes and gets out of the way as needed. Navigates all the roads by Lake Placid and beyond no problem. Unlit and really twisty in parts. Biggest problem is missing speed data so it goes 35 in a 55. If you tweak the offset to go 55 when you come upon a 35 it keeps going at 55. Signage needs to be changed also. Going 55 come upon 35 and at end of 35 it says end 35 but does not say what the new limit is. Speed data in the maps is much better in more traveled areas. That said I can go whole distance with no safety intervention. For me it’s life changing

    I use FSD every day, and there are a few issues that need to be fixed before it can operate unsupervised:
    Dips, holes, and potholes avoidance-Tesla tends to run right through them.
    Fog and large rain puddles-FSD turns off during these conditions.
    Entering and exiting highways-Tesla doesn't allow enough time to merge and relies on other drivers to let it in. Especially in California, if you signal, many drivers speed up and don't let you in, particularly during rush hour. Tesla should be able to navigate toward the correct lane at least 1 mile in advance (rather than 0.5 miles or less), as this often causes us to miss exits.
    Long ways to go.

    I often have mostly to complete snow-covered roads where I live. FSD is pretty much unusable in those conditions. Though it makes a good attempt to guide down the road, it will not follow the ruts that the previous cars have made, thus thrusting you into berms of slush that makes it unsafe. It sometimes steers off to the right edge of the road too close that will suck you into the borrow pit if you don't disengage. I hope Tesla figures out snow conditions better soon.

    Lots to like but when I took 13.2.6 out for a drive, it still does not slow for school zones, still cannot read signs, still fails my two test intersections, one by trying to go straight from a left turn only lane and the other by trying to complete a left turn by going into a short left turn only lane, then trying to continue straight rather than make the left turn. Very safe, very smooth, good with pedestrians and bicycle riders, good a 4 way stops but fails when the map data conflicts with reality.

    • @fred1barb
      @fred1barb 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DerekDavis213 I agree, this is a critical problem that must be solved. The intersections and school zones that FSD cannot navigate correctly are not vanishingly rare. FSD has failed to recognize five school zones in three cities, tried to make improper left turns in two cities, and moved into left turn only lanes before attempting to go straight or at three intersections in two cities. I cannot understabd why or how the more widely viewed reviewers do not encounter such failures or if they do fail to comment critically. What I see tends to the boy are we making progress,sort of review. Yes progress is being made, after literally years. But if signs cannot be understood. If flashing police and fire lights are ignored, then map data no matter how up to date won't be enough. It drives well most of the time, the three most recent versions do very well on California freeways. But that does not offset a left turn ends in the wrong side of the center line.

    What I have noticed about the latest versions of FSD with Hardware 4 is that the local driving is now superior to highway driving. On the highway I have constant speed decay, it will not hold 85 mph, it will drop to 78 mph over a few minutes with no traffic in site. In addition, lane drift in the far left hov lane with a double broken white line is constant making it virtually unusable. Highway Autopilot in prior versions was nearly flawless and now it is often unusable. What is going on with the AI at Tesla?

    The rule on stops is not by order you get there. You were okay to go and the Tesla knew because the first person there goes and then it goes clockwise (first was 3, you were 6) had you pulled up in opposite spots with the “third person to pull up” if you are all there together, your spot would have been next. A personal peppiv of mine because nobody knows it!!! It’s the same everywhere. Look it up.

    Speed limits are there to keep people safe. The car has 8 eyes and lightning fast responses. So it really should have a lot higher speed limits than humans, because it’s much better😎
    Also if the car makes a few mistakes that’s ok , so long as it makes a lot less than humans
    Nothing is ever going to be 100% perfect , but humans are 70% at best so even if fsd was 90% it’s going to save many many lives.

    I bet FSD's problem with not slowing on ice is that Tesla's internal simulator doesn't have icy conditions in it, or snowy conditions for that matter. I don't think they'll be adding those this spring, because it's not really relevant for where they'll be launching the robotaxi service. But let's hope they will.

    • @flyingdaytrader
      @flyingdaytrader 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@celeron55 ice storms are common in Texas so ice protection should absolutely be in the models. I also think the main reason why it doesn't do ice or snow very well is those conditions really require you to "feel" the cars movements, something Tesla does not have the sensors for. They don't have any accelerometer or similar sensors in the car to detect the sliding, the looseness on the steering or the sliding or breaking action on different conditions. Just the other day I let FSD drive through a rain storm and the car started hydroplaning, after drifting out of the far right lane, into the left lane and then crossing the double yellow line I finally took over because it was clear the car had no idea A that it was even hydroplaning and B how to correct out of it and then C, how to avoid water buildup to not get into the situation in the first place.
