Horizon Forbidden West's massive story line may leave you with some questions. Join Lucy James as she explains the game's ending, as well as what the future may hold for the next Horizon title.
Five years and one DLC later, Horizon Forbidden West has arrived along with its massive follow up story. If you're feeling a little behind after your journey through the Forbidden West, fear not. Lucy James is here to break down the ending and even discuss what may happen next.
Even after an incredibly vast story, Horizon Forbidden West has loose ends involving everything from main characters, to the future world Aloy and company fought to save. The sentient program "Nemesis" is still active despite its creator's (the Far Zenith) absence. The far Zenith lost their chance to rule the forbidden west, and doing so leave Aloy and crew to fix Gaia AND implement Elizabet Sobek's plan to restart society on earth as it once was. Sylens is seen ready to leave earth and start anew on an all new terraformed planet, but at the last minute changes his mind. Horizon is one of the pillars holding play station up, I hope we don't have to wait 5 years, unless that's what it takes to give us a game of this quality

the story was pretty short if you cut off all the side quests. Fantastic game, I was level 47 at the end game and did way to many side quest and loved it. The overall story and end game.... not so much, potential in sequel, spin offs and other genre of games is very much possible.

6:38 This is incorrect. The DLC Frozen Wilds takes place during the first game. So when Frozen Wilds ended, Hades was not yet captured.
You're right. If you complete the frozen wilds story then continue the main one, when you get to learning about gaia and her precepts there will be voicelines of aloy asking about how hephastus took over cyan when supposedly at the time we only knew of hades having gained sentience.
@@quintessenceoflife7870 you are both wrong. Actually the frozen wilds take place after Hades got defeated near Meridian. Therefore while Aloy was in the frozen wilds Sylens captured Hades and tortured him. After the frozen wilds Aloy went to the Far Zenith bases (the first couple of hours in Horizon Forbidden West) and came back again to Meridian where she discovers Sylens‘ message in the transmission tower. After receiving that message she heads to the forbidden west.
@@arianoooamari6949 Go complete the entirety of frozen wilds then play the quest where you're learning of Gaia's subordianate functions. There'd be no need for the extra voicelines unless she actually did go to the frozen wilds after the entirety of the story.
@@quintessenceoflife7870 yes she did. That’s how it’s all supposed to be. After the main story in Zero Dawn Aloy visits the Frozen Wilds and after rescuing CYAN she goes to the Far Zenith Facilities.
The game's producers have stated that it's best to play The Frozen Wilds after The Grave Hoard mission in order to maximize the amount of additional dialog you get as you play through the rest of the game. So I imagine that's about as canon as you can get.
The events of the frozen wilds dlc takes place before defeating hades we know this because of the dialogue between aloy and sylens during the dlc
Completed the storyline today. Got to level 50 well before the story also which I am so psyched about. What a game! Fantastic storyline and just so interesting. I knew Tilda had a motive it was so apparent. What I was eager to see is how the threat of life was removed such as the red algae or plants etc they never showed that. I wanted to see more of Gaia at the end but we never got that. I really am excited for Horizon 3
I am thinking the re-capture of Hephaestus will have to wait until H3, otherwise there will be no more machines to fight 🤷♀️ But I wonder if any DLC will adress Elysium 🤔 It is the only bunker/base we have not yet found, where all last survivors of the Faro plague period were living out their natural lives. The base had supplies for 100 years but something happened before that time was up to cause it to shut down 🤔 We found the Odysee, Alpha Prima and Thebes, why not find the last bunker of humanity next? ☺️ I would like to know what happened 😝
Anyone still thinking Haephestus got captured at the end of the game, all you have to do is play the game for a bit more after it has finished. You now have only 2 roomies in your base (Beta and Gaia) if you talk to them they both explain that they have to work on a new plan to recapture Hephaestus now that it has gone back to the global cauldron network with some influences of the Zenith network. Beta explains that they cannot retry the Gemini capture plan again and Gaia explains that it will take her time to re-absorb and «clean» all het subordinate functions that were in posession of Zenith (Apollo, Artemis and Eleuthia).
Can't wait for the 3rd installment of Horizon, BUT I'LL MANAGE!!! Already shaping up to be the greatest post-apocalyptic VG franchise so far in this young century. Also looking forward to how they're gonna tackle the story behind Elysium in the next one (last major bunker yet to be discovered), especially regarding what exactly went wrong there that would suddenly end up throwing it off its 100-year timetable...

Hopefully it’s just 3 years for us to wait for the next game although I wouldn’t mind for how long as well, since good games with high quality take time.

my guess is the sylens and aloy will create a new hephastus with the help of apollos knowledge, like sylens said multiple times now. and the og hephestus will be left out in the wild. The machines need to stay hostile in future horizon games or else that great aspect of horizon will be lost. My bet is that the dlc will focus on constructing a new hepheastus subfunction for gaia and she will be able to create her own machines for the terraforming, but og hepheastus is still out there creating his own machines and possibly zenith advanced machines. I totally expect Horizon 3 to delve much more into the scifi category now that they have apollo, i also believe that between HFW dlc and H3 there will be a big time skip in order for the people of earth to get the knowlegde of apollo and get more advanced
So, Nemesis is just Facebook/Meta gaining sentience and go all Skynet

I think it was Hades that's missing as Aloy purged it at the Proving Lab
Sylens wanted / needed a partner to procreate with, that's why he wanted Aloy to leave with him. When she refused, he decided to stay... in the DLC or the next game, he will probably pull a Tilda, and also try to force her to leave with him.

I personally think the ending of the first game was a bit better because it was more focused on ending that story and this one seems to have more loose ends and is trying too hard to lead into a 3rd game instead of focusing on the ending of the 2nd. Besides that I really loved the story and the game
So millenniums after she's gone, Aloy will be spoken about like those religious figures we have.

They get review copy before the general release plus it their job to play games so they have plenty of time.
The next horizon must be full of advanced machine and highly tech environments,can’t wait to fight nemesis ,and don’t forget the living monster Faro still in the ground
Faro is dead. He had the place rigged to overflow when he died which is why it overflowed when they set him on fire.
Faro is dead, he programmed the place to melt in case of his death which is why that place turned into a lava pit

I thought they recovered Hephaestus? Wasn't Hephaestus absorbed by GAIA? Or at least still in the Zenith base?
Nah, it's out again (only counted 7 subordinate functions when Beta re-inserted GAIA back at the base, only two missing were obviously HADES-"RIP"-and HEPHAESTUS). Definitely leading up to 'Horizon: Nemesis' from the looks of things...
Hephaestus fled when Beta used it to create all the machines to fight the Spectres. They said they need to recapture it, and that it will be harder since it knows the trick they used last time.
Horizon is one of the best story-driven, fully realized world, and beautifully designed game ever created in a long time. Can't wait for the next installment.

They could have taken a copy of gaia, etc and left a copy on earth.

Man this game hit alot of feels
If we get a Nemesis DLC they'll have to cram everything into one. That'll be too fast and too quick. Plus I heard from somewhere that Guerilla (the developers) are actually attending on making 3 games of horizon anyway. Most likely the DLC will give us a short but long-term conflict just like the horizon frozen wilds DLC.

I actually agree with gamespots review in giving this game an 8. I didn't like the story that much compared to the first game. Tbh this game felt more like a big dlc to me than an actual new game
I think its purely subjective coz most ppl I've seen agree that the story is superior here, especially coz the focus is on the universe instead of Aloy herself
@@ejmakibelo3224 a lot of people dislike the ending (just look up on reddit). They disregard everything they established with the Zeniths by introducing ANOTHER big bad so they can set up a next game. Too many interesting ideas executed poorly and the final mission is just off beat.
@@SWatchik They did not disregard the Zenith threat when u consider the fact that the Zenith's plan was to steal Gaia and her subordinate functions from Earth. This would doom Earth even before the arrival of Nemesis. This was of course subverted and now Aloy and her team has at least a chance against Nemesis, sonething even Sylens recognized hence why he stayed on Earth to help.
@@benjaminnguyenpham7894 I mean the earth was doomed from having no functioning Gaia anyway, they just made up the story about Zeniths wanting to do it themselves which in the end got overruled by the real issue with Nemesis. Just unnecessary layers to it. Feel like the Zeniths could have been teased and fleshed out properly over two games I do really like the idea of them in general. Shame to get rid of it all for another red blob of AI
@@SWatchik You're trying to say that Earth was already doomed due to a malfunctioning GAIA and that the Zenith threat was pointless to the story as a result. You're wrong because the reason GAIA stopped functioning in the first place was due to the extinction signal sent to GAIA by Nemesis, a malovolent AI unintentionally created by the Zeniths....

Well hepheastus got captured at the end you can see it in the final cutscene 9:43 and only apollo is left
apollo is captured in that cutscene you can see it’s logo which looks kinda like a focus

@@sephiroth4824 it quite literally is. apollo’s symbol is the blue focus, which appears at the end scene. the two missing functions are hephaestus and hades, hades because it’s destroyed and hephaestus because it was moved to create machines to attack all the zenith’s spectres

@@sephiroth4824 don't get me wrong game was awsome but after iv done all side quest and main quest it felt short I think the elephants were underused wish u would shee them around more I really home aloy and errand get together as they seem to have romance towards eachother with I saw what Ted looked like also they should add old-world body cam footage of battles

There's going to be a third game. A DLC is normally meant for short things or extra stuff. The game highlighted Nemesis as the big bad in the next game. They'll probably mention Nemesis in the DLC but that's probably it. Defeating it within a DLC will just be rushing story.

I really like the story of the game the only problem is Nemesis and the inmortality of the members of Far Zenith. That was kinda corny. I would have changed it to the members that arrived on Earth were the descendants of Far Zenith. Nemesis would had been Apollo going rouge or they tried to make their own version of Zero Dawn and something went wrong. Sirius was going to be destroyed so they had to leave and steal Gaia and make Earth their new home.
