    I like alot great tests,, Darren from Goldfinders Australia. P.S Our TDI goes toe to toe with our gp3000 with the 15 inch semi ellip equip. But not as deep as the gp3000 with its 18inch dd. But for wet sand digging they get hard to recover at these 20+ inches deep. Thankyou very much for sharing this video, i have been curious about that new garret, and now i know

    • @DarrenBarnesMD
      @DarrenBarnesMD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah done that, same with the 6 inch mono coil from the minelab on the tdi, the minelab works better, but the tdi works better running its standard coil over the 3000 using its standard 12 inch coil

    That is a great, fair test of the deepest machines out. I would have to say though that full Gain on the Dual is probably not it's best performing setting. Also, on the Shark, pulse width determines the size of ltarget it hits--not the power. Thanks!

    Dc, I noticed on the Surfmaster you said was a little unstable. They you turned up the gain. With that machine you are supposed to turn down the gain to stabilize the Threshhold. Allowing you to hear deeper targets. You might this. Put the TDI seems awesome. I would love the equinox added to this group!

    Infinium should have been locked after balanced, especially on a beach. In harsh conditions it may be preferable to hunt in tacking, but it should be switched into lock as soon as a potential target appears because the more you swing over the target the more it balances it out. Just ramblings of a long time infinium user! Great video! confirmed what i suspected.

      I have a Garrett Sea Hunter II, and over all its great - on the Beach and in the water. With my intent to renew my scuba certification, I will use it underwater. The Garrett is a turn on and go unit. The ATX is crippled by detector shaft vs. Sand damage issues and while I love it, I don't think I would buy it for that design flaw - maybe. I hope and pray the TDI Pro is on the schedule of detectors Garrett will make since they bought White's patents, rights etc - the TDI is a liability near the water especially in the rough sea waves such as in the winter months here in Florida, but up on dry sand it's a great, deep second round to a CTX 3030/ Equinox 800 - they can discriminate but not perfectly but they do have displays to analyze targets.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      F0X4 I have only tested the GPX 5000 side by side with the TDI Pro at the Beach. The depth was very comparable and the TDI Pro was a little more stable at full gain.

  • @Bootyhunter1971

    I'm wondering if you have tried the regular TDI on the wet sand and if so how does it compare to the TDi Pro? If you have not tried it, what is your opinion of how you think they would compare as far as depth and stability? Thanks

    • @360.Outdoors.Videos
      @360.Outdoors.Videos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just can tell you that the TDI Sl is very much stable on the beach . So you hear the faintest modification of the threshold and can go very deep taking this into consideration . The TDI PRO is much more unstable and therefore you will loose some deep targets targets ...

    Thank you for this test! Much appreciated. At what depth does the CTX3030 detects the nickel? (with no disc, no ground balance and sens at 28?) I would love to see more testing videos

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Booleys The CTX will go 10-12" on a nickel in wet salt water sand depending on the settings. If you could run your detector in manual 28 sensitivity and its stable, you should hear the nickel in that 10-12" range.

  • @F0X4

    I live in Australia and own a Garrett Infinium. I like the machine but it is very hard to ground balance in mineralised soil. I get great depth out of the machine but from all the videos I have seen the TDI pro looks like a step up in performance for a similar price machine. Would you recommended upgrading?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      F0X4 You will find the TDI Pro will go deeper that the Infinium. I also find the TDI Pro to be very stable even at high gain. I have used the TDI Pro in the heavily mineralized dirt of Culpeper Va and it worked very well.

  • @FrankMD11
    @FrankMD11 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for posting this excellent video. I look forward to you testing the ATX with a mono coil under the same conditions. I'd speculate that you'd get the 18" nickel with a mono coil. Would it have the stability of the TDI with it's mono coil, under the conditions as in this video.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would agree that the ATX should get about the same depth as a TDI Pro if using a mono coil. I also look forward to seeing the depth and stability results. Thanks for watching.

    Finaly I have white's my tdi pro, but is to noisy than the tdi sl, can share me you setting please?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use it at the beach, it will be noisy especially if you raise and lower your coil. Keep it level and sweep slowly. Remember a PI detector is constantly retuning itself. I run at full power with the GEB off and the pulse rate about 12.

  • @egil222
    @egil222 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    First thanks for producing this video must have been lots of work but is a great comparison of some deep seeking beach machines. One question about the settings on the Infinium. According the user manual and the posting I have read online you get the best depth using it when you have the ground balance set to Lock and you had it on slow which is known to reduce depth. Was the machine unstable unless you turned on the slow ground tracking?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephen Pearsall I tried the Infinium on all settings and achieved the best signal response when set to slow; The Infinium was stable at all settings. Thanks

    • @egil222
      @egil222 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DetectorComparisons Thanks for the answer - I have one its way to me and have been reading the manual and watching Garrett's and other's videos on the machine so was very interested to hear about your results. According the documentation you should only need to run on slow in very heavy mineralized areas. I intend to use it on beaches in northern Mass, NH, and southern Maine many of which have a lot of black sand mixed in the beach sand.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephen Pearsall I hunt the CT and NY shores and some of the beaches are very rocky with black sand. You may also have your best results running in slow depending your levels of minerals/black sand. Good luck hunting up there!

    Thanks for sharing, I have to use Sovereign on my beaches because of iron, I want to see comparison PI to Minelab BBS machines, regards.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bosman Boss There is no comparison when it comes to raw depth. What sounds good on a PI is hardly noticeable on a BBS detector. I have tested a CTX with the 17" coil and could not hear signals that I heard clearly with the TDI Pro with a 12" coil. But as you know, there is a trade off, if you want the depth of a PI, you will have to dig the iron that your Sovereign ignores. The Sovereign is a slow processing detector so if there is a lot of iron around, it is probably masking good targets. I use an Excalibur which is essentially a waterproof Sovereign and I have had good results with the 15" NEL coil going very deep but I could not use it in an iron infested area.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for the kind words. When deciding on the one PI machine, it all depends on what type of hunting you do. When I want to work a salt water swimming area while wading (going in and out of the salt water), I use the ATX. If I’m just working the wet salt water sand, I use the TDI Pro. If I’m looking for micro gold jewelry in wet salt water sand or gold nuggets in the field, I use the ATX. Both the TDI Pro and ATX have incredible depth but you have to look at all features and decide what is important to you.

    • @360.Outdoors.Videos
      @360.Outdoors.Videos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For daily hunting on the beach I prefer my white TDI because it is lightweight . For micro jewelry I use my Garret atx ,for very deep hunting when the beach has been hunted to death I love to use my Garrett atx with the big 20 inch monocoil . So i always find some good big yellow ...

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a big difference between the TDI S/L and the TDI Pro. The S/L is more in line with the Duel Field when it comes to depth. The TDI Pro is much deeper. I have done side by side tests with both machines and I can hear a mans gold ring at 18" with the TDI Pro and with the TDI S/L, I can hear the same ring 12"-13".

    • @360.Outdoors.Videos
      @360.Outdoors.Videos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is true . The TDI PRO is more powerful on a neutral ground . But the TDI SL is stable like a rock . So on heavy mineralised beaches I can crank up the gain to it's maximum without any problem , whereas it is not possible to go more than 50%of the gain on a TDI PRO without stability issues . .So I am more comfortable and effective with my TDI SL in a daily highly mineralised hunting situation . Even my Garret atx does not handle these harsh conditions as well as my TDI SL. I hope this helps .

    ....you should not search with the Infinium in the slow or fast mode. Those settings are for ground balancing only. Always detect in the locked mode.....

      If you are in an area where there is black sand or heavy minerals, searching in locked means you will have to reground balance the detector as ground conditions change. Garrett recommends searching in locked when you can, but if you are in an area with high minerals or black sand, searching in slow or fast is recommended by Garrett.

    i think a vlf machine like minelab quattro/safari can compete that depth in wet sand.

    Not a great test....pi's like to have no air gap between the coil and sand.Also,the infinium should do better than that.......my seahunter with the 14" coil would pick up the targets better than the infinium in that test and it shouldn't.

      Some of the detectors don't have internal speakers. Ones that do, you can hear them in the video. Turn up the volume....
