    This is actually not our typical new year, a few years ago it was much louder and extreme with almost zero visibility on the street and you need a towel to cover your nose or go inside of your house because of the smell. Until they ban using firecrackers but then there are still people who still want to use it. Happy New Year! 😉

      @@thelmsrmall1125 but good thing they can say no if they're full, in this case, they didn't have a Media Noche since they didn't know everything closes already by 6-7pm, they were planning to get Jollibee so they haven't eaten for midnight. They get to taste home made food and not fastfood, as they said. For foreigners I think it's good for them, they didn't have rice so they're aren't full, d other one didn't eat as much since he has indigestion problem. They are Americans, they will say no if they wanted to, they don't sugarcoat it or pretend like if u're a fellow Filo it's hard to refuse coz the others will feel bad and some might tease or gaslight u for being choosy. No matter how pushy our culture is, Americans will say no or yes based on what they think & feel & tell u how it tastes exactly as it is, not pretending if it's too sweet or too strong or too interesting without offending others, guys with onionskin will take offense but this is how Filipinos can learn to accept others when they say no, it doesnt mean the food or drink is bad either.

    Everything that happened in this video is C-L-A-S-S-I-C Filipino New Year's! From crazy climate changing fireworks to the reckless firecrackin; from the random street parties blasting song remixes to the tipsy uncle making everyone passing by take a shot of the local brew and talking too much about anything and everything. That guy is an absolute classic! If you guys had stayed longer he would have offered his bed for you to sleep in that night, and he'd just drink until sunrise. The lechon, the noisy dogs, non-stop feeding! You guys got the whole package! Bonafide Filipino holiday epicness! Can't wait for you to visit a fiesta in the province. Almost every house will open their doors for you!

    • @ravenbonanza1522

    Isaac and Tyler, happy new year. The reason why the hosts who invited you to their home had to pause every conversation exchange, they were processing how to express themselves properly in English. A very large majority of Filipinos are very English literate - listening, reading and understanding. Conversationally though, on a day to day, they speak the local language or a mixture of English and Tagalog/ Filipino which we call "Taglish." That is why they had to pause each sentence as they had to say everything in English.

    Lol. I love it. I moved to the US when I was 13 years old and it was the most depressing Xmas and New year where no one is outside because it's cold even in California. This year, it was pouring rain in Northern CA so we got flooding even in parts of SF. Fireworks is illegal, anyway. :) One of the best memories I has as I child in the Philippines was New Year where it was the only time of the year all the kids were allowed to stay up and walk around the neighborhood and every house is having a party and anyone is invited. The best neighborhood block parties you could find. I've spent decades of New Years in the US and I've gotten used to it now. It is jarring though when you first move from a country that does an all out celebration for Xmas and New Year and going to country that doesn't. Glad you got to experience it.

    I can't believe you'd still see this kind of hospitality in the city. This is usually common in provinces, literally they invite every passersby inside to eat. Glad biscuit bois enjoyed the new year here in PH 😊

    Christmas and New Year in the Philippines esp in cities are always like war esp New Year, I remember growing up in the 90s, almost are houses are lit up with Christmas lights and both Xmas and New Year are always so loud, it's always a fun time. People or families gather together karaoke, street party, eating together, esp at midnight. Fireworks, firecrackers, car owners honking and many more, any way to make noise. kids jumping which is a superstition so they'll grow, or people shaking the coins which is another superstitiion to bring more prosperity for the year. In the last recent years, although Ph celebrate Xmas as early as September but some people are not into celebrating or not as festive compared to before. The one that you experience is just a snippet of the traditional Filipino New Year celebration, It's much louder than that but I'm glad you're all safe. New year can be a cause of firecracker accidents but many Filipinos have learned their lesson to be safe always since that's always been the case for years. hehe. Happy New Year TriFate. More power to 2023!

    pre pandemic i Spent so many christmas and new years in that country and it was the best time of my life! New year in the philippines is like no other! i heard from my friends there a lot of firework factories have closed, only few survive. so they expect more expensive ones and just few people can afford. but look at that, the skies still lightup like amazingly crazy! alho i've seen in your video few in the streets. Hopefully in the coming years, traditions will comeback like street party everywhere like every street and people are drinking, eating outside of their houses and welcomes strangers to join them, dancing with loud music! my goodness just have them all in my head now! They dont even bothered if government has prepared a fireworks for them, they prepared for themselves and enjoy, forgetting all challenges in life coz why not? life is too short! i loved it! should be in guinness record!

    That tilapia (fish) is either steamed or grilled. Filipinos don't usually put ripe mangoes in dishes, what made that dish sweet and sour might just be the combination of (cherry) tomatoes, salt and lemon. Kakanin is the term for rice cakes. Barbecue gets its flavor and color from banana ketchup and soy sauce.

    • @Hitmanleeli
      @Hitmanleeli ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on second thought, it could be stuffing/filling: red onion/brown sugar/unripe mangoes (along with the combination mentioned above) that could make a grilled/steamed fish taste a bit sweet.

    Filipinos’ love language is feeding or sharing food 🙂
    The fireworks/firecrackers were tamer this year because of the inflation. It’s louder and crazier before pandemic (and before Duterte government) that the hospitals were literally full with patients from firecracker accidents. There were even victims of stray bullets.
    But I must say you had an epic new year’s experience 🎉👏🏼. Happy 2023 to you both! 😊

    That family who gave you food and drinks tho! Hahahaha well, it happens in festivities; families randomly giving food and drinks. There's a lot of reasons for this: the inherent friendliness definitely is one; there's also how Filipinos have this mindset of being grateful when we do get boutiful blessings so we want to share it around to pay it forward somehow; and there's also the case of families having too much food on the table that they'd rather do some kindness rather than let the food spoil (because that food will take weeks to finish and festive foods that have been plated in large quantities can spoil very fast). Eventually it became a custom/norm/tradition among families especially those who think they're lucky enough to be able to have a spread at the table during festivities.
