  • When the FLIP Fluids addon was on sale on blendermarket.com a few days ago I decided to buy it even though Mac and Linux support is experimental. (I only use Mac and Linux for my 3D work.)
Nevertheless my experience was pretty good. I started this simulation on a Windows 8.1 machine copied it over to my iMac with macOS High Sierra and continued baking. (The fact that you can pause baking is awesome!)
Then I copied the simulation to my rendering machines, which are running Debian 9 Linux. That didn’t work that well - the simulated water was displaced and I haven’t figured out why yet because I was running out of time and wanted to keep this video on schedule.
But overall I’m very impressed with the addon. It’s really efficient comparing to the default fluid simulator in Blender. This simulation is baked at a resolution of 800 using a bit over 8GB of ram on a Windows machine. For a 860 resolution simulation with Elbeem I needed nearly 100GB of ram.
