2021 wasn't my best year to be honest because i kept feeling underaccomplished, i started falling behind on grades and I kept comparing myself to people who had achieved more than me at a younger age. But the best highlight of 2021 was finding your channel in October. The streams, Why I Work So Hard video and How I Studied For 12 Hours A Day video re-enflamed my passion of tech and finance that had developed mid-2019 and had been drowned by the start of 2021 out by burnout, overly ambitious goals and a fixed mindset that I already was smart. You said one of your goals was to help people by showing what skills you need to be the best of the best and you've helped me by doing exactly that. Looking forward to any future vlogs/streams my guy :]
I love how chill james is, ngl, i wouldn't mind if this channel just became pre-recorded study with mes and vlogs. I love the whole casual vibe of this all

My shift to minimalism was also a fundamental internal shift. I dealt with a lot of inner work, kinda like therapy, and realized I don't need all the stuff I was gathering. I realized the stuff I had was a safety net which was actually holding me down and preventing me from transforming into a new, better me. Loving these vlogs bro, all the best.

As a practicing minimalist, or I try to be, I notice how social media or pop culture media uses the term minimalism different or I'd say toxic in a way it become another form of consumerism. In pop culture theyd define minimalist as someone who has their lifestyle to look elegant or monochrome or having minimal decor; people would now then consume alot of those things but this also where the pressure comes from. minimalism isn't supposed to be like that, it's about sustainability and consciousness and growth. it's a reminder that to be conscious of what we put out in our environment, of what we take or do is also a way of looking out for the people around us. it's about making conscious decisions by asking to yourself "do I need this" or "do I need to buy more" "do I have to have this"- it's also dwelling onto quality over quantity mindset. I also do think this type of lifestyle shouldnt make you feel pressured or restricted, if you think minimalism doesn't aligned to you yet, maybe try reading about essentialism. I also suggest watching Matt D'Avella, he's a minimalist TH-camr. Hope this helps minimalism is quite a heated topic btw hahaha, also you don't have to throw all of your stuff, then youd consume more then that discloses the idea of minimalism, it's really more on avoiding the unnecessary stuff. :) I hope uni is going well! Can't wait for your next vlog :D
In high school I got really into minimalism and read the same books you're reading now. However, as you talked about, it requires an internal drive in order to truly detach your sense of materialism. For me personally, as I began to immerse myself in minimalistic content, I grew overwhelmed with the loads of stuff surrounding me. I grew tired of all the things cluttering my room and this motivated me to get rid of what didn't bring me joy. I recommend finding sources of inspiration that encourage you to declutter. As for buying new things. I once heard some good advice that said you should only buy something new if it removes a negative from your life, not just builds up a positive.
I think that minimalism is a bit overrated, and recently it became "trendy", being a minimalist is a good thing but i don't like the idea of being a 100% minimalist because some stuff bring you joy even if you don't need them, old trophies, antiques, paintings, papers and books, it all add value joy and beauty to your place, at the same time making the things you use less can make your life much more easier, umm so you gotta balance that out
You have no idea, how much I've learnt from you ,not just about studying but for life itself. I'm reading the books you've suggested ,and they're already having an impact. I don't know how to thank you,in changing me and showing me the path i seeked. Thanks James, i don't know if we'll ever meet, i wish i could but , you'll always have greatest place in my heart, love.❤️

I try to get rid off things that do not have any purpose for me. I apply it for things (objects) but I also apply it when I meet new people. There is no use/ logic in keeping people in your life that doesn’t “serve” you. And that goes for objects as well. Btw James I love when you are talking about your dreams and goals, don’t share it but make it happen!
@@ethanjsc Hey Ethan 😇 normally I do not interact with people on YB unless it bothers me or unless I have the feeling that I need to explain myself (this is the case) because I believe (this is an opinion) that most people have not the right mindset (yeah I konw I am a little bit straightforward). The reason I apply this method on people is because "I do not accept any bullshit in my life.~ BK" I choose to be happy and I choose to not feel bad nor guilty when I decline politley someones friendschip or any kind of relationship. Because I believe from the bottom of my heart (and experiencing a lot of bullshit) that a relationship, no matter what kind of a relationship, should be mutual beneficial. If I give 100% of myself and the person in front of me doesn't... the time that I have , the life that I share and the love that I give are precious to me and I don't want to have regrets and complain to myself that I should have ended things sooner. Put value into yourself. And love yourself before you even try to love someone else or before you accept someone into your life. So be a little bit selfish because being selfish doesn't mean that it is a bad thing. Sometimes we need to be selfish in order to make the right decision. Lets say there is this young man who wants to be succesful, and he works every single day very hard to achieve his dream. This young man is very dedicated and ambitious about his dream. But his friends aren't. They don't work as hard as this young man does. Instead they prefer to go party, and to live their daily live. I hope that you can see what I am trying to say and that you can see that both parties involved are not on the same level of mindset. So that's my reason why I said what I said. God, I can't believe I've typed so much😂. But don't get me wrong: I totally understand why you are reacting that way, because I would have probably said the same thing 2 years ago. I wish you a nice day Ethan, and ofcourse for anyone who is reading this🤗
Happy new year James! I feel you, it is hard to not be materialistic when the system is made for us to spend money and buy things, but I try to spend my money on things that I believe like small business or buying stuff that I know will last One podcast i like is radiolab :) keep vlogging bru
I don’t consider myself a minimalist because I still hold on to some things that don’t hold too much value BUT the Konmari method did help with really evaluating how I see material possessions in terms of keeping an old item or purchasing new items
hey james, just wanted to say i've considered myself a minimalist for a few years now, but it's very stressful to focus so hard on "man i can't be a minimalist till i get rid of all my stuff". instead i like to think of it as an ongoing process, or like a mindset more than anything. slowly i sold things i didn't use or need, and when i do buy things, i like to really think about whether it'll benefit me. that's it i guess. but it's been enjoyable for me, i like to think of it as a method to achieving mental clarity, because my mind is so cluttered all the time. so many things i want to do/learn/try, and having excess "things" around, both physical things and mental things, prevents me from doing things that matter. ok cya. i love these vlogs, more pls
I'm a very materialistic person too. I really like collecting vintage stuff and filling my room up with cool tech. But it got to a point where I was buying stuff which I'll never actually use, so I'm trying my best to get rid of those things and I wish you can do the same too if you feel like getting rid of your stuff
some people commented here on their approach of minimalism and it's actually interesting to read cause it just holds different value for each of us depending on our lives so i'll take part in that, too D for me it's a lot about honesty and self-awareness i keep things that are not 100% useful but they bring me memories I truly do not want to ever forget and I also got rid of something useful just because i didn't have any positive connection to it learning to listen to myself in this way was a bit of a process and that's the best thing it gave me i guess the overall goal for me was to be able to maintain my surroundings easily whilst being naturally grateful for having what i have so i didn't gave up on joy that things can give you from esthetic or other reasons but i carefully weigh whether the source of it is 100% connected within myself and if i even want to be someone who uses/likes this piece of matter
we thank to you I guess because you basically gave birth to this platform D by bringing these topics up and sharing yourself in my eyes it also takes a certain amount of bravery to just put yourself out there with this level of honesty, whether it is intentional or not
I watched Olivia's glowup diaries on youtube, not all of the videos tho, didn't know she had a podcast. Thanks for the video :3 Missed you on Heleen's streams when you got sick:(
heyy james miss you hope you make more vlogs im very attached to things that sparks joy I dont think I can get rid of them easily lmao +++love how the video is so natural and hope you get a great skin after the treatment✨💜
I’m a final year medical student from India.By the end of last year I was completely burnout with exams , covid and a lot was going through my mind. Then one fine day I stumbled upon ur video why I worked hard and that Literally changed the way I look at things and your study sessions helped me crack my exams (which are 8 hours long ) . You said u wanted to lead by example and you are doing it James !!! Thanks a lot and lots of love James!!!✌️😊
i want to ask when is the next study stream is? and i wanted to tell you that you are probably the only study streamer that i study with because your vibe is amazing. the early 2000s vibe is just perfect and the yellow light is perfect too. and i love how materialistic you are lol reminds me of myself keep going buddy also my attention span is 20 seconds max lol but i am progressing thanks to you!!
You must have a little bit of fun. Being materialistic and also humble is a good way to put it. I describe myself like that. You cannot just cut off the things that you like doing and expect to be happy. Reducing them may be a better way of handling it. Btw do more of these vlogs I kinda enjoy them.
Thanks for motivating me so much😅. I'm never on time for a stream becausr of difference in timezones but anyways I watch recorded ones which really makes me work on the days I don't want to.😂
not a minimalist by any means but when I do "spring cleaning" and go through my things I ask myself "Have I used this in the past 6 months?" and "Did I miss this thing?" If the answer to the first question is yes, then it stays because I use it frequently enough. If the answer is no but I have missed it, I try to carve out a space for it where it can be used or admired more often. And if I haven't used it or missed it that much, I make plans to donate/sell/recycle.
Love ur vlogs... Feels so natural...😍...Just like pete McKinnon said, people watch vlogs not cz they love the content ( not every one), but due to the vloggers personality or attitude... sometimes relativity too... Maybe I love ur personality...
For the clock, it is indeed European adapter however if I am not wrong you cant do much if the voltage and the frequency are different in US. You would need to use a up converter(or down) if it is the voltage is low and also you would need a frequency modulator if the frequency is different. For up converter you would need a DC signal which you dont have from the outlet. In other words you need a full wave rectifier, so it might be a bit hard to make it work.
Telefunken was a very popular german appliance brand. That radio uses standard European “pre-shucko” plug and standard european voltages. To use it you need a step-up converter.
Your blogs motivates a lot... U r always growing 📈 trying to turn life more interesting...Along with those floor stuffs try to modify the walls also 😅 it would give a nice look... Btw where r u staying now James.. Coz it doesn't seems like ur granny's house...

Btw James I love when you are talking about your dreams and goals, don’t share it but make it happen!
thank u
I get what you mean but the people part could come off as a bit selfish
wait what so you just keep people around so you can use them?
@@Rie_Bot No. Any relationship is meant to be mutually beneficial.

I feel you, it is hard to not be materialistic when the system is made for us to spend money and buy things, but I try to spend my money on things that I believe like small business or buying stuff that I know will last

Really love your vlogs bro they super calm and motivating :)
hey james, watching your vlogs somehow gives me a sense of comfort :]
I don’t consider myself a minimalist because I still hold on to some things that don’t hold too much value BUT the Konmari method did help with really evaluating how I see material possessions in terms of keeping an old item or purchasing new items
the description omg hahahahaha
hey james, just wanted to say i've considered myself a minimalist for a few years now, but it's very stressful to focus so hard on "man i can't be a minimalist till i get rid of all my stuff". instead i like to think of it as an ongoing process, or like a mindset more than anything. slowly i sold things i didn't use or need, and when i do buy things, i like to really think about whether it'll benefit me. that's it i guess. but it's been enjoyable for me, i like to think of it as a method to achieving mental clarity, because my mind is so cluttered all the time. so many things i want to do/learn/try, and having excess "things" around, both physical things and mental things, prevents me from doing things that matter. ok cya. i love these vlogs, more pls
thanks bro that's where ill start
I'm a very materialistic person too. I really like collecting vintage stuff and filling my room up with cool tech. But it got to a point where I was buying stuff which I'll never actually use, so I'm trying my best to get rid of those things and I wish you can do the same too if you feel like getting rid of your stuff
You can use 'universal travel adaptor' for your clock....
some people commented here on their approach of minimalism and it's actually interesting to read cause it just holds different value for each of us depending on our lives
so i'll take part in that, too D
for me it's a lot about honesty and self-awareness
i keep things that are not 100% useful but they bring me memories I truly do not want to ever forget
and I also got rid of something useful just because i didn't have any positive connection to it
learning to listen to myself in this way was a bit of a process and that's the best thing it gave me i guess
the overall goal for me was to be able to maintain my surroundings easily whilst being naturally grateful for having what i have
so i didn't gave up on joy that things can give you from esthetic or other reasons but i carefully weigh whether the source of it is 100% connected within myself
and if i even want to be someone who uses/likes this piece of matter
thanks :]
we thank to you I guess
because you basically gave birth to this platform D
by bringing these topics up and sharing yourself
in my eyes it also takes a certain amount of bravery to just put yourself out there with this level of honesty, whether it is intentional or not

Thanks a lot and lots of love James!!!✌️😊

oh look my favourite vlogger!!
plot twist: He filmed this during his 10min break
You must have a little bit of fun. Being materialistic and also humble is a good way to put it. I describe myself like that. You cannot just cut off the things that you like doing and expect to be happy. Reducing them may be a better way of handling it. Btw do more of these vlogs I kinda enjoy them.
broo i love these types of videos please keep em coming
u know it bro
Look mom James become a blogger :d
2:37 lol i didn't know it'd be so cool to see yr messy bed 😂😂 y be relatable for the first time ever 😂😂😂

Not him explaining how the lotion is JUST FOR HIS BODY🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love ur vlogs... Feels so natural...😍...Just like pete McKinnon said, people watch vlogs not cz they love the content ( not every one), but due to the vloggers personality or attitude... sometimes relativity too... Maybe I love ur personality...
About the Telefunken clock, the 220V 50hz/60hz standard is still used in the EU. You would have to get a voltage converter.
you're a vlogger now? let's gooo dude
In other words you need a full wave rectifier, so it might be a bit hard to make it work.
yeah this might be a lost cause haha
Telefunken was a very popular german appliance brand. That radio uses standard European “pre-shucko” plug and standard european voltages. To use it you need a step-up converter.
