I don't know if I would agree with that (partly because I haven't heard all versions of all songs ever written), but it's got to be right up there, hasn't it? Amazing. I love it live or recorded, but the lyrics are even more important than the music. Aren't we lucky that she can not only write them but sing them like this? What a gift!
I agree, I've playing different playlists and been hitting favorite on songs and notice they all from her before I knew who she was. Recently went out and bought her entire collection of albums as a bday gift to myself
I'm so tired of seeing comments saying the artist I like is underrated. Is that supposed to be flattering? Is that supposed to be a compliment? It's irritating.
Let's just say that no matter how underrated she is, Sara Bareilles is a true telent and imo among the finest artists that California has ever produced.
Way more to your music than I ever realized. Hindsight is 20/20. Best concert I have ever been to, and we were blessed with front row seats! It has been wonderful listening to your music grow and excel. Thank you; here is to many more!
i find your account all the time when i find a video that is in any way related to sara or is one of her songs you must be a huge fun but i can easily understand why 😃 I am too of course ..
Sara bareilles is so good at capturing the emotion of the song and delivering it to the audience so they can feel exactly what she felt when she wrote that song. She is probably one of the most underrated artists in our generation her piano skills her voice it just makes you feel like you're flying above the clouds that you can see the sunset so amazingly breathtaking every song she delivers she generate so much emotion and heart and feelings it's beautiful. Just to top it off when she plays live her sense of humor makes it such a party. So when she comes to my city we're going to party Sarah 💯💯💯 I'm just happy she finally getting the spot light on her and she gets more LOVE from the radio stations from the media I'm not throwing shade at her label but you got to promote her more in different countries because she will sell it everywhere ♥️♥️♥️
There were two songs on it....i am aware of the DVD, i happen to have it, but most songs were from past albums, brave enough was to promote brave, not the blessed unrest.
I just went through a medical emergency (that was also mental and emotional), and I cry when I hear this song. I think I must have felt the lyrics somewhere deep in my heart, leading me on from before, when I felt the light of the sun in my life. So profound. It has so much more meaning after sitting on a fence for a month. No words. Thank you.
This song is beautiful and amazing musically and lyrically. Among the best songs I've ever heard.. I think this song can go far if it is released as single, with strong promotion.
It's a really old city Stuck between the dead and the living So I thought to myself, Sitting on a graveyard shelf As the echo of heartbeats, From the ground below my feet Filled a cemetery In the center of Queens I started running the maze of The names and the dates, some Older than others the skyscrapers, little tombstone brothers With Manhattan behind her, three million stunning reminders Built a cemetery In the center of Queens You said, remember that life is Not meant to be wasted We can always be chasing the sun! So fill up your lungs and just run But always be chasing the sun! So how do you do it, With just words and just music, Capture the feeling that my earth is somebody's ceiling Can I deliver in sound The weight of the ground Of a cemetery In the center of Queens There's a history through her Sent to us as a gift from the future To show us the proof More than that, it's to dare us to move And to open our eyes and to learn from the sky From a cemetery In the center of Queens You said, remember that life is Not meant to be wasted We can always be chasing the sun! So fill up your lungs and just run But always be chasing the sun! All we can do is try And live like we're still alive It's a really old city Stuck between the dead and the living So I thought to myself Sitting on a graveyard shelf And the gift of my heartbeat sounds like a symphony Played by a cemetery in the center of Queens You said, remember that life is Not meant to be wasted We can always be chasing the sun! So fill up your lungs and just run But always be chasing the sun! All we can do is try And live like we're still alive All we can do is try And live like we're still alive
I didn't know this song exists until now. And I've been listening to Sara B for a decade now! Coincidentally, I just finished reading "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman and this song got even more relatable.
I love the fact that Misty (the talented girl playing guitar) has also been on tour with Alexz Johnson, my other favourite singer/songwriter. I think I wish I was her.
I have lived this long, oh my foundation set in the sandstone tiers, Laid high sufficient to see the sky…Where I smell a stirring shift in the wind, It carries a perfume sweet as jasmine petals of summer, out past the rippling waves A hallowed land once stood, on the bedrock of dying empires? Just now, can’t you feel it fading? The long lapsed commands hurled out in tomorrow’s bidding Don’t follow the rush and battered boards, an old world order’s basketball hoop Lays flat against the pole where rust has crawled up the pole, a sparrows nest, a red ribbon flaps The cold wind snaps, the clanging flagpoles brass hardware against the grey pole into the night A new winter may be ascending more to societies unwanted, grey flannel dismay, To my surprise a crooked hall lined with colored mirrors, deciding where true evil dwells Now we see what crossed us up on a fairer day long ago, the opinions did not consider new… I feigned a quick turn on an outside curb, disrupted by the fascinating, glare from the streetlights shining beacon, oh my, what a heavenly glow, my eyes have set my heart reeling, swimming through the sounds on a radio from a passing car, oh can you feel us set freely soaring … It is angels we’ve become, calling so we may find our way across the phantom scenery, and jasmine laced air… I can find my fatal ascension quivering, breathing so heavily, squatting in the corner… that sacred spectacle I have surrendered to once more, as hollow as a marsh reed… Who has the master key of fortunate destiny’s front door, the access to kingdom come, the palace of light…Here once was a glistening orb holding all of the dreams of mankind since time began its own steadfast pace to the universal tempo, what shining shoes that dancer wears, My heart’s on a long red string, my heads still spinning from all the advice, On that sweet notion, I’ll say this once, “don’t think twice….. The red rubber ball’s still bouncing like a lost lover’s heart Who will recite my eulogy in the end when the handful of friends has abandoned me again? And then you came with all the songs and flowers tied up with a single blue velvet ribbon……
Terrance Hill Such a beautiful poem Terrance.I'm letting everyone know_You have such a great heart and to leave your gift as a comment/poem_To honor this beautiful song by Sara Bareilles.Says so much
I think the point of a live sessions is the slightly out of tune slightly quirky inflection s...that's what makes it real. Nobody sings perfectly in pitch all the time anyway. Adele is a perfect example of an artist who loves to blend a note....
Beautiful, reflective song from a truly wonderful Album & artist. Right now, I dedicate it to Palestine & all the 'brave' souls, victims & survivors of Gaza As this 'Evil' Israeli Masaca Rages on, True Acts of Terrorism, by the real global terrorists, RIP Humanity.
Pitch perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME. No artist popular in 2022, is more talented vocally than Bareilles. Most underrated singer out there. Beautiful song.
This is the most important song ever written, no joke.
U speak the truth
I don't know if I would agree with that (partly because I haven't heard all versions of all songs ever written), but it's got to be right up there, hasn't it? Amazing. I love it live or recorded, but the lyrics are even more important than the music. Aren't we lucky that she can not only write them but sing them like this? What a gift!
I agree ! The meaning of profound .
Favorite vocalist, arranger, composer for current music. Sara is an amazing musician and comic! What a voice!!
Why is she soooo underrated??? She blows my mind alwayss. Pure talent!!!
Daniela ManriqueC I always say that!!!
I agree, I've playing different playlists and been hitting favorite on songs and notice they all from her before I knew who she was. Recently went out and bought her entire collection of albums as a bday gift to myself
yes she is severely underrated talent
I'm so tired of seeing comments saying the artist I like is underrated. Is that supposed to be flattering? Is that supposed to be a compliment? It's irritating.
that is the million dollar question. Seriously, though..why? ;)
Sara, so how do you do it... With just words and just music! Ur just plain amazing!
Wow, yes I agree !!! She blows me away each & everytime, beautiful soul & pure talent, amazing gifts to the world, so listen Up !!! Lol
Let's just say that no matter how underrated she is, Sara Bareilles is a true telent and imo among the finest artists that California has ever produced.
She is one hell of an artist and a brilliant musician. The best of the best
> My most favorite song from "The Blessed Unrest"
> Great live rendition
> This made me love her more
Way more to your music than I ever realized. Hindsight is 20/20. Best concert I have ever been to, and we were blessed with front row seats! It has been wonderful listening to your music grow and excel. Thank you; here is to many more!
Why is she the best person ever
Beth Grace ikr. so amazing. her lyrics and everything. so underrated.
i find your account all the time when i find a video that is in any way related to sara or is one of her songs you must be a huge fun but i can easily understand why 😃 I am too of course ..

YES this is spot on!
She needs to release a live concert album of her new songs
I think she has. It's called Brave Enough: Live at the Variety Playhouse. I think though it's just hear and a piano/guitar not a full band.
Not really,
Most songs were from her old albums.
***** Oh that's a shame. I haven't had a chance to watch it. If not I really think should do one. This album is brilliant.
Brave Enough: Live at the Variety Playhouse was a promo tour for the blessed unrest. That's why there were few new songs on it
There were two songs on it....i am aware of the DVD, i happen to have it, but most songs were from past albums, brave enough was to promote brave, not the blessed unrest.
Why is she just so amazing?
***** Because she is :-)
She always surprise with her live performances.

Such a great song.love this lady. Wonderful heart and full of mischief. Humour
Why do I always tear up when I listen to her music? 😭
inspiration, encouragement, fulfillment, all these things I find in your voice & lyrics sara.. I thank you for these things..
I think she is the most gorgeous woman on the planet
Shawn Ramey I think she's beautiful and writes beautiful music.
She is Honesty, and Beautiful inside and out.
Gosh, this is perfection! I could listen to this all day.
This song is beautiful and amazing musically and lyrically. Among the best songs I've ever heard.. I think this song can go far if it is released as single, with strong promotion.
That major 7th note kills me every time.
Ok, so now I am awestruck. I love this song so much and now they've gone and made me love it even more.
It's a really old city
Stuck between the dead and the living
So I thought to myself,
Sitting on a graveyard shelf
As the echo of heartbeats,
From the ground below my feet
Filled a cemetery
In the center of Queens
I started running the maze of
The names and the dates, some
Older than others the skyscrapers, little tombstone brothers
With Manhattan behind her, three million stunning reminders
Built a cemetery
In the center of Queens
You said, remember that life is
Not meant to be wasted
We can always be chasing the sun!
So fill up your lungs and just run
But always be chasing the sun!
So how do you do it,
With just words and just music,
Capture the feeling that my earth is somebody's ceiling
Can I deliver in sound
The weight of the ground
Of a cemetery
In the center of Queens
There's a history through her
Sent to us as a gift from the future
To show us the proof
More than that, it's to dare us to move
And to open our eyes and to learn from the sky
From a cemetery
In the center of Queens
You said, remember that life is
Not meant to be wasted
We can always be chasing the sun!
So fill up your lungs and just run
But always be chasing the sun!
All we can do is try
And live like we're still alive
It's a really old city
Stuck between the dead and the living
So I thought to myself
Sitting on a graveyard shelf
And the gift of my heartbeat sounds like a symphony
Played by a cemetery
in the center of Queens
You said, remember that life is
Not meant to be wasted
We can always be chasing the sun!
So fill up your lungs and just run
But always be chasing the sun!
All we can do is try
And live like we're still alive
All we can do is try
And live like we're still alive

she is so brilliant! I love the tone of her voice, her music and lyrics. can't wait for her to return to MSP.
I agree that she is terribly underrated! Please see her in person if you have the opportunity!!
I love the fact that Misty (the talented girl playing guitar) has also been on tour with Alexz Johnson, my other favourite singer/songwriter. I think I wish I was her.
You can tell Sara was really pleased with that harmony at 03:48.
Agreed. And the other young woman doesn't get a credit. Not fair!
071949 That's Misty Boyce--she's in Sara's touring band, and well known to Sara's fans.
mysticsmb, Thank you. Misty is very good. She certainly deserves to be well known. 11/24/2014
071949
I believe Misty just released a new solo record--you should check it out if you dig her.
My gosh Sara is just underrated FR !
Can you believe me finding this late in 2016??? gee. blessed to have found this though..
never too late! 💙
This song saved me from the brink in 2013 but never too late to discover great music.
"..we always be chasing the Sun ~" loved that part :)
beautiful song!
That note tho.... LOVE IT!!!
I love this song. Congratulations
I like the way she sings the high notes a little more delicately than the version on Bless’d Unrest. Love the ideas in this song.
beautiful...well written...as all of her songs are...:)
luv it..luv it ....luv it..luv it ....luv it..luv it ....luv it..luv it ....
Fab song. I love the lyrics.
chasing the sun is a pretty song, you sang it perfect. You are a great singer.
Love love love her. Such a talented musician and singer.
Always honestly devoted and beautiful in delivery. The course of hope is rich in Love. Sara delivers.

A new winter may be ascending more to societies unwanted, grey flannel dismay,
To my surprise a crooked hall lined with colored mirrors, deciding where true evil dwells
Now we see what crossed us up on a fairer day long ago, the opinions did not consider new…

This is my favorite current artist and I thought long and hard about it.
I listen to this song daily
thank you SARA : )
please write more songs like this...
mind-blowing
I'm right there with you!
I love this song. It's so deep. The only other song about a cemetery that I like (or know of) is by Dave Matthews - Grave Digger.
Talent.
I love your music!
She's my idol.
Beyond Beautiful Sound!
I'd love to know who the background singer is! The one with the guitar! Anybody knows? I think, she's great too!
+Alison Percich Indeed that's Misty, an accomplished musician herself. Amazing how they blended so well to produce this fantastic song.
The entire band on the little black dress tour were soo good. Can't wit till the waitress stint is over I wanna see her again
Bravo!
And how is Sara even better than anyone before to since
Our family has a connection to that cemetary. Most of us (not me) will be going there eventually......
Killer harmonies.
Misty Boyce was the perfect complement. Brilliant.
Wow
I think the point of a live sessions is the slightly out of tune slightly quirky inflection s...that's what makes it real. Nobody sings perfectly in pitch all the time anyway. Adele is a perfect example of an artist who loves to blend a note....
She was out of tune in that "its a really old" bit... But the whole song was absolutely fantastic!! #obsessedwithsara
+pranavi velagapudi Her voice wasnt at its best here, she might have had a cold or it might have been because she couldnt be too loud
+Felipe Edoardo Yeah maybe.... but the whole song was just Amazeballs!!!
❤️
😍😍😍
a little 'light' music (crossing that blue water bridge) ...
@ 04:15
i'm always gonna chase you Sara xD
Damn, Misty is a boss
I know how hard you work. Take a break. Relax. Breathe.
Always love to be Misty there...
Hi
Beautiful, reflective song from a truly wonderful Album & artist. Right now, I dedicate it to Palestine & all the 'brave' souls, victims & survivors of Gaza As this 'Evil' Israeli Masaca Rages on, True Acts of Terrorism, by the real global terrorists, RIP Humanity.
MISTY BOYCE
Yes!!
I think this one is a good song, except I find it difficult for myself to sing.
Marry me Sara!!!! :-D ugh, you're just so amazing, love you
Your beautiful I hope some day I will find a woman like you. :)
I was thinking of John lennon
Am I the only one who thought this song was about 9/11 victims? 😢
I bought your album. I promote you to the police “satellite”. Sorry but they don’t do call outs.
Why you not In the kitchen Sweet-Cheeks?...
❤
