I do strongly believe most of it comes from the dramatic quantitative easing and increases in the money supply to combat recession when production slowed down in 2020-2021. We are essentially now paying for the suffering we should have incurred when everything was shut down
Has the real estate market in Canada ever crashed? Not really! There would be two possible outcomes if the high interest rate keeps or goes up in 2023. That is either the housing prices go down as more and more mortgage takers surenderred, or the prices level flats as majority mortgage takers leaned to hold on and defend their values, and banks earned five times of interest than ever. Both of them are rational and acceptable for Central Bank of Canada. , and both of them won't hurt Cnadaa economy.
Good points! I believe the latter point will be more likely the case but you never know. Time to buckle up and see what the new year has in store for us!
