For those watching whose minds aren't sufficiently blown by this great technique - you don't have to cut the flaps in the middle. If you want a long thin box, say 2-inches wide, just cut the flap two inches from one end. Then cut the opposing flap two inches from the other end (important). This way you can decide how long/thin the reconfigured box will be.
@@rigorevangelista9875 Both top and bottom must be the same. Give it a shot on some scrap boxes. It's one of those things that makes more sense when you're physically doing it.

Fantastic question. I'm sure there is a math problem that will solve it, but I don't have that equation. I've just "eye-balled" the box and modified it and it usually works out.

BIG! I have never actually shipped a monitor that large. I know some people will have a UPS store pack it for them. It's expensive, but I think they guarantee/insure that it arrives safely.
