Fucking festival sound engineers. Great performance, though. EDIT: Having listened to the whole thing again, it's kind of a nice novelty to have Goerge's vocals so high in the mix. It's not how the music was intended, but he really shines and tries out some new stuff (deeper tones on occasion and some more traditional black metal vox too).
So this very, very late but... it's not the engineer's fault. They probably took the mix straight out of the board and then didn't adjust it. What works through the festival system with on stage amps etcetera is going to sound weird coming out your headphones/stereo under very different conditions.
The good thing about this is you can hear how on point the bass guitar, drums, and vocals are. Too bad the two guitarists are literally nowhere to be found.
Don't really give a shit about what metal elitists think that hate this band, still think they've created a unique and interesting sound mixing black metal and post rock together. Almost polar opposites in the metal/rock genre yet I feel like they fit together in an extremely interesting way.
I personally feel there are bands out there that do it a bit better than Deafheaven. Have you heard of Harakiri For The Sky? Definitely worth checking out if you dig Post Black Metal.
Having never seen them live, or watched any footage of them live before this, I was a little surprised at how lively the vocalist is. For some reason I imagined a "standing still" type of guy.

If this is anyones first experience to this band and you dont like the vocals well the vocals sound completely different on the their records and most importantly on these songs.

It's a nice change to actually hear the snare drum, but still, I must agree with everyone else. Pretty weird mixing for a video. This is why you record separate tracks when you plan on doing a video like this.

I am really disapointed in the vocals on this live recording. doesn't sound anything like the album where his voice sounds good. this sounds damn close to just shitty. obviously i can tell the editing is off too cause of the guitars n what not. but does his voice always sound like this live? that would b sad n like i said really disapointing.
