Rare sight of Male Mandarin Duck in Norway, this beautiful duck from East Asia have most probably been flying from UK where it was introduced in some parks.

Looks so professional! 😍 Love the slo-mo when he flaps his wings. I love his beautiful scarlet red beak, his cute pumpkin orange sail feathers & his "whiskers", his gorgeous amethyst purple breast, his swept back neck feathers that end in emerald green, the black & white stripes all over him & his shiny & sparkly black onyx eyes that shimmer & sparkle like real onyx do. #LifeIsBeautiful!

I live in north west England. We have recently had a small flock of 5 mandarin ducks makes an appearance in ponds in the local area, 3 drakes and 2 hens. Hopefully they will breed and return each year.
Interesting behaviour seen so far is that the drake mandarin seems to be more dominant than the drake mallards - despite being smaller in size. Moorhens (not a duck) don't seem to appreciate having mandarin ducks nearby as they have a clutch of eggs on the go. Once the moorhen chicks hatch it will be interesting to observe if behaviour changes.

Espectaculares tomas. En el Zoológico Huahipa, Lima - Perú, tenemos siempre un ejemplar de invitado y lo comenzamos a ver solo un par de meses después de que se viera un ejemplar de la misma especie en el Central Park de Nueva York. Al parecer, le encanta convivir con patos de otras especies.

Mandarin ducks are the ultimate symbol of love and marriage in South East Asia, especially in China, Japan and South Korea.
The notion that Mandarin ducks promote love and marriage goes back many centuries.
Pars of ducks are often seen swimming close together. It is told the Mandarin ducks stay faithful to their mate throughout their Lifetime.
