Daxter is single-mindedly focused, I'll give him that. Jak just casually goes through a portal in the sky into an alien world and all he wants is to trade the Mayor for a power cell.
The non-eucludian portal leading into oriental express was the coolest shit and I wish more mods did that
The whole Crash level has around it giant bubble skybox and that is hole in that bubble. It doesn't have any shadows so it appears weird and almost like portal.

When Jak 3 mods become more of a thing, running these levels on a Leaper Lizard sounds very fun!

These are getting REALLY good! It's amazing how versatile the movement physics are that it can be applied to these other levels and look like it was made for it
Man... imagine having the entirety or at least most of a classic Crash game playable in Jak and Daxter.

Dude, _please_ put these mods up for download, it would be genuinely so awesome. I know a lot of them can be glitchy and difficult to work with, but hey - we're already going through the process of adding the mods in anyway, so I'm sure we won't mind that lol
I'm currently looking into sharing these mods with help from others from the OpenGOAL discord. In order to test these mods I had to setup up whole development environment and have to compile whole game when changing anything. There is easier way to try the custom levels with OpenGOAL Launcher, but it doesn't work every time. Also if you die the custom level unloads and you have to load it again, not to mention that there are no checkpoints.
@@Inirdin Yep, I know. Ruh has shared some mods just like that, and honestly even in that state - I really don't mind. I've played the two Zelda mods they showcased and I love it so much, even if there is that much to deal with at the moment.

The music, Jak not talking and Daxter mostly talking, the sounds, the fun level design... man, I wish games were still this simple and fun. Those were the good days 💔

Psychonauts (and more recently the sequel Psychonauts 2) has a lot of similarly surreal level design and transitions

I was just expecting Jak to be plopped into the Crash level, which would've been worth the admission on its own. Was NOT expecting to see him travel between dimensions haha

This is sick! The most fitting import I feel would be those ski stages with Coco, since I believe they served as the basis for the zoomer? Or at least the system that they made water with
I love how you travel to the orient express via a magic door in the sky on misty island. Have you thought of making a mod that is nothing but that? Like you go to sentinal beach and there is a secret pathway that leads to gilato beach from mario sunshine or something.

Had this come out when I was 10, you’d have me looking around my copy of the game for the random window in the sky that takes you to crash 3
When I was a child I would sometimes play Crash III and then just play exclusively this level.. child me could never quite get that final relic

If only we got something like this instead of the Crash/Spyro crossover done wrong and put on a handheld that nobody wanted to see it on.
This put such an unapologetically huge smile on my face, i loved this! I've always wondered if Jak n daxter would ever get any cool mods so this was a pleasant surprise, and this level looks a hell of a lot more enjoyable than chasing down those flying lurkers.

You will need launcher version of the OpenGOAL, and there is high chance that only the first test-zone you try will compile and others won't work.
