  • The Poison Spider Mesa off-road trail in Moab, Utah is an exhilarating trail for all intermediate to advanced skill levels. This moderate-to-difficult 4x4 trail is 8.63 miles long (one way) and winds through the rugged desert landscape of the area. The trail has a rocky terrain and several moderate rock-climbs. It also has a few deep sand pits that require a high clearance vehicle. Along the way, you can take in the stunning views of the canyon walls, expansive desert sky, and even the La Sal Mountains in the distance. The Poison Spider Mesa trail is one of the most popular off-road trails in the area and is a great way to experience the beauty of Moab.

    Great video! Did the loop 20 years ago solo without issue in Isuzu Trooper on 33s. Going to Moab in 2 weeks but likely won't be taking my F150 on 33s on this trail. 😢

    Great; you hear this a lot but your videos are GREAT-mostly your easy going narrative and the simple but spectacular videography helps the viewer feel like we’re on the ground driving/walking next to you!
    Your descriptions are spot on, not confusing, just informative and enticing
    Great Job 👍🏼

      I second that! Great video. Loved your narrative and videography ( the cab fly through was unique). Music was added very appropriately. Interesting for a seasoned wheeler and I think very informative for a newer/ intermediate offroader. Well done!

    We'll be down there next week to hopefully do the Trifecta. Was curious about the current conditions and your video illustrated that well!

    You have to explain to me what apparatus you are using with the camera flying through the Jeep. I saw it on one of your other videos. Is it a drone or gimbal or what the hell is happening

    • @TrailTraveler

      I use the DJI Avata drone to do that shot

    What was harder this or steel bender?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question. Poison Spider has more harder obstacles where Steel Bender is mostly more moderate with just a couple pretty tricky spots. Steel Bender probably rates a slightly higher rating because of the big wall obstacle, where Poison Spider has numerous obstacles that will test your skill/nerve a bit.

    Awesome video! I am scoping out Poison Spider as I will be in Moab in a few weeks. In your opinion, do you think I will struggle or be alright with my JLUS on 35s and 3.5 inch Metalcloak Gamechanger lift kit on this trail? Seems like I will run in a few places for sure but was curious on your thoughts! Thanks!

    Kerry,
    I enjoy your videos. I’m also from Colorado, with a recent move to Arizona.
    My wife and I did Poison Spider a few months ago. Great trail. I did the Trifecta a couple of years ago. You’ll really enjoy that one when you run it.
    I’ve got the same Jeep as you do, currently on 35s. Moving up to 37s soon, but still debating on gear selection - 4.88 or 5.13. I see that you went with 5.13. Any regrets? What kind of highway mileage do you get? Did you lose much top end speed?
    Do you post your upcoming trips anywhere? It’d be fun to run a trail or two with you.

      We did the Trifecta this year (th-cam.com/video/bnw9XrW0ZYc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yLHNXgkdxu_XvCwk) - We are on 38's with 5.13s and it performs great. We get about 14mpg on the freeway and I can hit the speed limiter at 97mph. Not regrets with this setup at all. As for our trips, we usually plan our weekend trips the night before, so I can't really give any notice. Our bigger trips often require.a ton of planning and logistics, so we tend to either go alone or with people that we have experience with.

    38's 38's I did it on 38's youl have trouble if not on 38's 38's we did it on 38's. that is only 1.5 inch advantage over 35's. since your all about 38's it may be time to find a channel where a varity of tire sizes are ok and a group of guys having fun with what they have and not 38,38,38, not onlt that it is cost prohibitive for most to pay an extra $150 to $250.00 per tire on top of the tire price. not everyone has $1800.00 to $2000.00 for tire for 1.5 inch gain. not to mention the cost on your $85,000 rubicon plus all the dollar plus extras. Just keep showing the $$$$$$$$$

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I only mentioned my tires once, and your estimate of what I paid for the Jeep is almost DOUBLE what I paid for it. If you are so offended, try watching Lite Brite or Trail Recon and see the hundreds of thousands of dollars they have spent on their rigs.
