    The Mamiya RB67 is an analogue medium format camera that shoots images in the 6x7 format. Means you need 120 films.
    Fully setup the camera weight is ca. 3kg. which is a bit heavy, but the results the Mamiya RB67 can produce make you forget about the weight.

    Thank you so much for such a comprehensive video. At 9:43 you explained how to slide the locks in the back. I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out why I couldn't attach the film holder. I don't know why nobody else mentions that. Thank you!

    The light leaks and seals on the rb67 and rb67s is why I went with the SD bc there are no rubber seals in the final design.

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nahh sadly i did not know that more early.. i maybe would have decided for an Mamiya RB67 Pro SD as well... aniway, i ordered light seals from Japan and repaired them. So let's see if it worked. :-)

    Awesome tutorial well deserving of a like and a sub mate thanks. I wanted this beast back in my pre digi wedding days, but the cost was too much. I settled for the Bronica ETRSi such an amazing camera so easy to use with cracking results, unfortunately I killed it last month after it was hit by a rouge wave, totally fried. Anyway a work mate dug out her old RB67 Pro S kit for me to record an episode on for my wee channel, she was going to throw it in the skip, kicking myself now that I told her how much these things are fetching on ebay....I'm gonna slip a couple of rolls through asap then make her a cheeky offer. Thanks for the video regards Paul

    This is a great walkthrough of the configuration of this camera but, a detail tickles me, the music. What is this looped song heard in the background from 0:43 to 20:37. I want to purchase it. You Tube don't give the author and the title in the description.

      Hi, thanks for your friendly words. I really love the mamiya rb67. I am not sure about the song anymore. It was a royality free song, if i remember i keep an ear open when going through my library again and if i find it, then i wil tell you the auther of the song. Greerings

    May I ask, if the film back is pro s, you can't do double or more exposed but if the film back is pro sd, you can do the double or more exposed? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks :-)

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi you can do double exposure with both, but besides the standard pro backs the pro-S and Pro-SD (as far as i know) have a double exposure interlock. Means you have to set the leaver on the back to either show or do not show the red dot. If you cover the red dot you will not be able to double expose the film. As long as the red dot is covered, you wont be able to fire at all unless you wind on the film after you took a shot. If you want to double exposure, just change the position of the leaver to show the dot.
      Two pros the sd back has over the pro s back is, that it a has a place on the back that can hold the darkslide while taking a shot and it has mechanical lightseals. They have to be maintained way less.
      Hope that helped. Greetings.

  • @elmomusk9952
    @elmomusk9952 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have to put the darkslide in before rotating the back? Really helpfull Video!

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ask different persons and you will get different opinions on that. I handle it like this: if your lightseals are under good conditions and you need to rotate the back for better composition, go for it. But if you have problems with your lightseals in general put the darkslide in first. I renewed all my lightseals so i am rotating when eber i want to rotate. Hope that was helpfull. Greetings.

    If you buy rb67 pro sd film backs they don’t use foam light seals so you don’t get light leaks but they are very hard to find on their own they usually only come on the camera if you buy it in mint original condition from a Japanese seller on eBay

    this is the best RB67 parts assembly explanation I've seen out of the 10 or so RB67 videos I just watched--good video. One thing I'm wondering about in using this camera...it looks like people use expensive $100-250 light meters with it like the Sekonic l-308b. Can I just bring along and use my normal DSLR as a light meter? Or is there a cheap (

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for your nice comment. You could of course try to use your dslr. But keep in mind that due to the ballow extension you will have to change some values. I still think the most accurate option would be a cheap spot or light meter. There are also some mobile apps that give suprising good results. Also remember that spot metering always gives you the values for medium gray!
