My mother had this LP back in the 60s, and she loved Sergio's music! I have always enjoyed listening to it, and I can sing along with them in Portuguese! I don't think that Tom Jones ruined it at all.... His English interpretation was spot on! I did not know the English translation of it before, so it was interesting and fun to hear it. This song originally came out in 1966--first song on the first Brasil '66 album. But the year of the clip was 1968. I can tell because this is the second Brasil "66 lineup, the musicians used on albums 4-7. Only Sergio and Lani Hall remain from the first lineup. The blonde singer is Karen Phillipp (not a typo), an aspiring actress like the singer she replaced, Janis Hansen (who went on to a recurring role as Oscar's wife in TV's The Odd Couple). The bass player is Sebastao (Sebastian) Neto, on bongos Dom Um Romao, and drummer Rubens Bassini. And Tom Jones as proto-Austin Powers lol! Enjoy!

I watch this from time to time. It can cheer you up. Sergio is one of the world's talents and Lani is amazing. Lots of comments here about Jones ruining the song. I disagree. That song can't be ruined. Jones was obviously having a great time with it and certainly the girls on stage. It was his show and he drew the audience in to the song. He could do what he wants. A great time was probably had by all there in the late 1960s, at the Fringe of a golden age in the west.
