I don't think someone can be both Catholic and a Democrat. Its not just life issues like abortion, IVF, contraception. Its marriage and the attacks on it.
I think you can be both. But you’d be living in sin by supporting social positions that oppose church teaching. Just like a Catholic that commits adultery, or never participates in the sacraments is still a Catholic… they’re just fallen and need to repent.
@@scooby1992I can forgive Trump and so does God. We are all fallen and God uses us for His purpose. Trump has certainly changed and shows more morality than Nancy Pelosi.
Completely misleading. Devout does not mean a person touts their faith but lives it. Many on this list do not live it through defending the dignity of human life, which starts with defending life itself.
I’m not a supporter of Pelosi or Durbin… but they have a history with the faith and have been vocal about their beliefs. There’s like 120 Catholics in Congress… and there’s almost no information about any of their Catholic beliefs. Pelosi, for all her faults, goes to mass, takes communion, goes to the Vatican, gets ashes on her forehead… sure, she’s got some really bad political positions… but she’s more vocal about her Catholicism than 98% of the other Congress people.
@@purely_catholicYou are wrong. They’re not political positions. They’re MORAL positions. Pelosi is NOT devout. She maintains heretical positions that are very contrary to the authentic teachings of the Church. Your opinion on some of these politicians is very twisted. Going to Mass, taking communion, and receiving ashes does not make a person devout.
Very solid list , for the people criticizing some of the names on the list may want to reread the Sermon on the Mount . Lots of people that live in glass houses are first to pick up stones just like the Pharisees
Receiving Holy Communion, going to Mass, and receiving ashes does NOT make a person devout. It’s accepting as absolute, objective truth the Teachings of the Catholic Church on FAITH and MORALS. These are defined by the two public revelations as given by the Holy Spirit regarding FAITH and MORALS: 1) The Universal Ordinary Teaching Magisterium of the Church. 2) Sacred Scripture as taught and interpreted by the Church. You are so wrong, here. I’m considering unsubscribing. The Church does not consider a pro-abortion person (amongst other evils) to be “devout”.
It doesn’t? The holy father is appointing cardinals who hold views that in direct opposition to church teaching. Consider Timothy Radcliffe. You can be Catholic and also be wrong. And for that they will need to repent. Archbishop Vigano, despite being excommunicated, is still a Catholic.
@ The “Holy” Father should NOT be appointing them if they are in direct opposition to the authentic teachings of the Church as defined in the two, public revelations I put in my text above, as it relates to Faith and Morals. You need to sharpen your catechesis.
@@purely_catholic Yes, you can be Catholic and also be wrong. That wasn’t the issue. The issue is that you’re referring to these people as devout or faithful. They certainly are not. The name of your channel is “Purely Catholic”. These people are not “pure” Catholics.
@@JMM0111 no Catholic is pure. We’re all sinners. That’s the whole idea. Wow, half these people are not PRACTICING Catholics.
NO! These politicians are "cafeteria Catholics." Their faith means very little to them.
I believe that being a Catholic and a democratic stands in stark contrast of each other.
I agree with you, Anne.
These so-called Catholics are only fooling themselves. They are on a slippery, downward slope.

Not so. It’s their job as shepherds. They must do this for the good of one’s soul. Your belief is very Protestant-like.
Jesus didnt create a church for you to make that decision. He created a church for you to obey it, not bypass it.
Sounds like a Protestant point of view.
