    That gave me a new perspective on manipulation, which word has alot of negative energy.

    Thank you for clarifying the intent behind the word ‘manipulation.’ Some words have been used so often in the context of something bad or nefarious, when sometimes, the word itself is fairly benign. It is the intent with which we use the word which assigns it’s level of ‘vileness.’

    I love this stuff. New to your self concept group. Once I get that down I plan on learning language patterns (SOM, Meta, Milton) but I think that the group will keep me busy for a while :)

      Yes they are a lot of fun. Understanding Self-Concept will help you with the language patterns too.

    Hey Damon great content as always. In the video you mentioned that the unconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between yourself and someone else. Can you elaborate on what you mean by that?

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your question.
      The conscious mind is the part of your mind that focuses on differences like I'm me and you're you for example. It is the dualistic part of your mind. Many Eastern philosophies, practices, and religions focus on overcoming the duality of the conscious mind, which is where the ego resides, in order to experience oneness without separation. Your unconscious is the part of your mind that doesn't know separation. Because the two parts, unconscious and conscious, are parts of one whole mind, you can't not process in duality and in nonduality. So when you harm someone else on purpose, the conscious mind will see it as harming someone else distinguishable from harming yourself. However, the unconscious receives the instructions that harming people is okay. Since you're a person too, you will get caught in that crossfire eventually.

    Very interesting. In the first few minutes you overlook the Milgrim study where, simply due to authority, people were willing to torture and even kill others. It's been replicated as well. People definitely willingly do things that are beyond their values/morals.
    For manipulation, I think it becomes 'manipulation' vs. 'persuasion' when you're purposely circumventing the rational decision-making process so people will do what you want rather than what's best for them, and when these techniques are used to benefit yourself, without regard to whether it benefits the other person.

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I addressed what you're saying at 3:55. If I didn't, please explain.
      I haven't read the Milgrim study. Do you or the people conducting the study know for a fact that the people were acting against their own morals and values? Obviously they valued authority above their other values and perhaps perceived following that higher authority as a moral.

    Words! The word 'Manipulation' seems to have such a negative connotation. The dictionary meaning is to control or influence. Perhaps it comes down to our motive...is it to harm or help? Hopefully we use NLP for good instead of evil 😊

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can. The better we understand manipulation, the more we can do it in ways that help people instead of harm them.

      @@duckwithat I usually speed up videos I watch from other people too. No harm in that. I've done several videos like what you're talking about. This one was not about techniques. It's about understanding manipulation, which is important in being effective at the techniques. Many people try out a NLP technique and then declare it doesn't work. It takes more than just applying a technique to make it work. Take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, if the techniques just work, then why practice? Why learn? Just memorize techniques. Of course it doesn't work that way.

      Do you need NLP tools in every video. Look at the other videos and you’ll find plenty of NLP. This video explains a commonly held perception of NLP

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you should work on your anger first.
      I've uploaded nearly 700 videos on NLP and have given hundreds of NLP tools away for free. It never ceases to amaze me how impoverished peoples' minds are. "But you didn't give me more!" How well is that working out for you. In other words, dude it's free. I have plenty of other videos where I give away free NLP tools. If that's not enough for you, go somewhere else.

      @@DamonCart It's true I should work on my anger. I wasn't really angry though.. I was just speaking to how you kept referring to people being angry with you in a joking way. I wasn't aware that your other videos touch on what was described and will check them out. I think I was really thrown off by the title of this video. Thank you.

    Thumbs down for the deceptive, clickbait title

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How was it deceptive? Because you wanted me to crap all over NLP? Or you were hoping to learn some tactics to manipulate people?

    • @Andybaby
      @Andybaby 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DamonCart Jeez, for an NLP dude, you sure are quick with the "presuppositions". In any case, *you're* the one who chose to use the word "exposed" (rather than 'explained') in your title. "Expose:
      reveal the true, objectionable nature of (someone or something)". ps otherwise it's a good vid.

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Andybaby you skipped the first definition and conveniently chose the second one. This video fits the first definition: make (something) visible by uncovering it. And this video is really not an "Expose" like you're referring to. As far as presuppositions go, they're unavoidable in language, but they were all questions rather than accusations.

    • @Andybaby
      @Andybaby 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DamonCart To 'uncover' implies something has been covered/ hidden, and I didn't think you were suggesting that NLP has "hidden" manipulation. I *was* looking for criticism of NLP, and I'm sure you agree that your title does imply that the video IS critical of NLP.

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Andybaby so my presupposition, which you criticized me for at first, was accurate. You wanted me to crap on NLP and I didn't and that's why you're calling it clickbait. The title of the video was meant to grab attention for anyone interested in the subject. Do you think that I did not give an accurate and honest assessment about NLP and manipulation? Why are you looking for videos that trash NLP? Seems like a waste of time.
