damn, this reminds of when i was younger. my dad would work 3 separate jobs and come home late, only to wake up early in the morning to go back to work. he worked all those jobs to support the family. but, he made enough money to start his own small business and is now making more money than ever before and has much more free time.
My dad is doing that right now except with two jobs. Gets home at 11pm (used to be 12 am) and leaves again at like 3 am. I love him so much. Hopefully he does what your dad does and hits it big with his hard work. Your dad sounds like a great one

But Peter and Homer’s transformation into nothing but spoofs of each other without any redeeming qualities is more painful since they were likable at one point.

For me, the last watchable season was 10. 8 was the last great season. 9 was decent but you could feel it slowly going downhill. After 10 was where I officially stopped and didn't watch it again til the movie came out. After that came to DVD, I bought it along with the first 10 seasons. That's my Simpsons.

Public opinion says the Monorail episode is the best ever. In my opinion, it's not even top five or even top ten. It has clever moments, sure. But it lacks that something special. This episode is my favorite for the fact it not only has really funny and clever jokes, but has probably one of the most heartfelt moments I've ever seen in any show. Not only that, but this one is VERY relatable. Who hasn't been in Homer's shoes or experienced what he does in this entire episode? The older you get, the more relevant it becomes.

I've been working as a postman for 15 years, out walking around in all weathers nearly every day. I'm going to become a dad for the first time in a couple of months. We have a baby girl on the way. For the first time ever it all seems worth it. And for the first time ever, I truly appreciate the sacrifice that Homer made in this episode, and truly GET why he does it. Amazing episode and scene.
This is where you find meaning in life. Life is suffering and a dead-end job without any fulfillment will leave you bitter and resentful. But when you have a family and children to look after, when you know the work you do will provide for them, doing it for them, you find meaning in the suffering.

I cant watch this episode without sobbing uncontrollably at the end. I am the youngest of three siblings so i unfortunately didnt have many photos taken either. I thought it was relatable in the beginning because of my divorced parents and lack of father. So this is how I feel every day. I’m in the Army and I’m stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I don’t have kids but my sister has two kids. I treat those two kids as if they were my own. Everyday when I have a bad day or even when I wake up I always pull up a picture of those two and I always think to myself like I’m doing this for them. So all in all this kind of means that no matter how shitty your job is you can always go home to those special people that you’re close to

These are the first seasons, when Homer was not a maniac disconnected from reality as he is in recent seasons.
It's way passed it's prime. Futurama was on it's way with the same fate with Fry. Good thing it ended honorably when it did though.
