Best Tulsa I've ever seen and the only one who did no screech that unsingable " WORLD" note. Great number. And why this song was not in Jerome Robbins' Broadway escapes me.
I agree he was a much better singer and dancer, technically, but less believable as the Tulsa character and the choreography is totally anachronistic. (But three cheers for poetic license.) Love his "whirl," which really is a bitch to sing.
Yes, absolutely the best "Gypsy" I've ever seen! Saw Lansbury in London and LuPone on Broadway as well, but this production not only had a fantastic "star" performance by Tyne Daly but a real feeling of a strong, cohesive ensemble (including Daly). Genuine music theater at its finest!
You guys are saying the wrong words to the song: when Tulsa sings the high note it's not the word "world". He sings "we'll take this big town for a WHIRL....."
Yeah, Robert was able to hit the high note on the world "world!" I saw Jerome Robbin's "Broadway" too. It was OK, but superficial in some respects. I would have like this number to have been added as well.
Got my tweed pressed, got my best vest, all I need now is the girl Got my striped tie, got my hopes high Got the time and the place and I got the rhythm, Now all I need's the girl to go with'em If she'll just appear we'll take this big town for a whirl And if she'll say "My, darling, I'm yours" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best-pressed tweed All I really need is the girl Got my tweed pressed, I got my best vest, all I need now is the girl Got my striped tie, got my hopes `way up high I got the time and the place and the rhythm All I need's the girl to go with'em Mm, if she'll just appear we'll take this, this great big town for a whirl And if, if she'll say "My, darlin', I'm yours" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best-pressed tweed All I real, really need is the girl

Best performance of "Tulsa" since Paul Wallace's in the film version. KUDOS to Robert Lambert and the choreographer!
Paul Wallace was also best on Broadway
Very good performance Mr. Lambert! Thanks for posting WestvaleStreet.
Even better, Thumbs up if you're still listening to this in 2013!
When u say 2-13 and is 2-22 by know
Saw this show on Broadway a few years ago but I have to say, this is a wonderful version of the song - great dancing and singing!
Hands down the best Tulsa and the best Gypsy production.

Bobby! Don't know if you read comments on your videos, but I remember you fondly.
This song is so tragic

It was probably voice dictated. The word is pretty clear.
that's my uncle
