  • A woman named Alaysha Johnson just made it to the Olympics, and she took her post-race interview as an opportunity to say that she did this for "everybody that looks like me." The only people in Olympic running who might not think they can make it are the people who don't look like her.

Yes it’s very self degrading and absolutely unnecessary. It doesn’t do anything for People in general and does black people a disservice and again people in general no good. This woke crap is an advertisement and very weakly sold but as long as there are people that get indoctrinated such as this young woman there will be people who buy it. And it’s absolutely atrocious.

Its what they are told. By media. By their parents. By their Liberal professors. By virtue signaling people online. And as the saying goes, if you keep repeating a lie loud enough, and over and over eventually the people of the world will accept it as truth. And some come to believe it, but others see it as a "golden ticket" for victim points. This creates a problem, as some end up in positions they have no business being in because of those victim points....Then they make others look bad due to their being unqualified people making a mess, and the lie becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Most people’s self belief is wrong or delusional if they’re super ambitious, which qualifying for the Olympics is, so you’d be likely right to doubt a person could it. If anybody else thought they were going to be as good as Michael Jordan, they’d be wrong. If Michael Jordan thought he was going to be as good as Michael Jordan, he’d be right. Not that everyone doubted her, but some doubting her would have an impact on any sane person because she’s striving for something very rare an improbable is grand scheme

He did seem to miss some people, like Valery Borzov, who I think won the 100 and 200 at the Olympics in 1972. He also missed Pietro Mennea, who won gold in the 200 in the 1980 Olympics and also I think had the WR for 20 years. If he went back 10 Olympics, he wouldn't get Borzov, but he would get Mennea. But maybe his 9/10 thing was just a fraction representing the percentage of non-black runners who got that medal. Probably the biggest outliers in terms of performance are the Soviet and Eastern Bloc athletes. Today, these countries don't produce shit when it comes to sprinters, but probably because of insane doping programs, they were fairly competitive in men's sprinting and in some of the women's sprints (I think 400 and 800, don't quote me though) they have world records that have lasted for like 40 years now, which indicates that they were almost certainly doping, since those feats have not been surpassed today.

If he was to go back 11 games and 44 years he would have found the last white man to win the 100m. Alan Wells of the UK. However, even he has the caveat that the US and others had pulled out of the 1980 Moscow Olympics due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan so he didn’t run against the very best in the world. It felt like the glory days of 1984, With flags everywhere in the audience, red white and blue confetti falling all over the stadium, a HUGE flag behind the athletes as they hugged and celebrated on the podium wearing these USA tracksuits and as each athlete briefly spoke to the crowd nearly all of them first thanked and celebrated GOD (that was refreshing to see) and also gave praise to USA and by the end the whole stadium was chanting USA USA! It was dope! So, just cause we have some woke athletes here and there, don't think that they are all like that. Cause the VAST majority are VERY patriotic and are so honored to have the privilege of repping the RED WHITE AND BLUE on the world stage!

Im glad that there can now be black women allowed to participate due to her contributions. Its never happened before her. Ever. No jamaican or kenyan or black american woman sprinter has ever been in the olympics. Ever.

You’re reaching, Michael. She’s clearly elated at making her FIRST olympic team. It’s a big deal - the pinnacle of our sport. The US olympic team is the hardest team to make in the world, especially in sprints - that was the word you were looking for, not “100m running.” She said nothing to disparage white people or imply white people’s accomplishments are worth nothing. The mental gymnastics it took for you to land at that conclusion is truly olympic-level. Victim mentality exists; your deeply offended clutching-your-pearls reaction to this young woman’s post race interview makes that evident. It’s clear you are unfamiliar with this sport and aren’t a fan. I suggest you stay in your lane.

I believe what she said was a bit cherry picked here. She didn't just talk about being black, she talked about coming out of the "hood" as well. Traditionally, there may be a lot of black sprinters but that doesn't take away from the hard work it would take to compete at certain levels especially given ones circumstance.
I think her overall sentiment is that you can come from a difficult circumstance and still make it and she serves as an example or testament to that.

Why not? This again just points to the fact that it's important for people to make a practice of actually listening and not cherry picking to suite whatever narrative. The media has brain washed people so they can't hear nuisances without a bunch of qualifiers.

I'm usually on your side, Michael Knowles. But on this one you crossed the line. You didn't give her any room or show any empathy. She's an emotional athlete that just realized their dream of making it to the Olympics. It is true that Alaysha Johnson said a few things out of emotion. And she was a little over the top. But she wasn't intentionally trying to make a political statement about race like you think she was. She simply got caught up with the emotion of the moment. You need to show a little bit of empathy, be happy that she made the Olympic Team, and let this one go. This is clearly not a battle that you should have jumped on, my friend!
