I mean with Cocoon of ultra evolution you can get the card out MUCH easier now, but I still think the card could use a retrain: _Perfected Great Moth_ (EARTH) Level 8 Insect/Effect _Must be normal or special summoned (from your hand or GY) by tributing 3 or more Insect monsters from your hand or field (Quick Effect). Your opponent cannot target face-up Insect monsters you control for battle or effects except “Perfected Great Moth”. When this card inflicts battle damage or destroys a monster by battle, you can special summon 1 insect monster from your hand or GY to either field, ignoring its summoning conditions. His deck was more like the prototype for Evol. His weaker monsters were reptiles, then came the dinosaurs as the intermediate stage and finally dragons as the boss monsters. It was very much like the relation between Aqua, Fish and Sea Serpent.
It's so cool to see Serpent Night Dragon in this list. There are some Vanilla monsters that I really like even though they are weak. Serpent Night Dragon, Tri-Horned Dragon, and Seiyaryu are my favorite vanilla dragon-types.
Seeing Zoma made me smile. I always loved the card back in the day as it really helped me out of some sticky situations. Glad to see it found some success somewhere.

Yeah, a Serpent Night Dragon retrain and/or associated archetype would be sweet. And I'm honestly surprised that nothing's been done with it, seeing as Rex is one of the few DM-era characters left who hasn't gotten any upgrades to his cards.
There were so many cool-looking vanilla monsters from the early days which never saw competitive play or were quickly power crept by better cards, it'd be nice to see some more retrains for some of the DM era boss monsters and signature cards
It's always interesting to learn about alternate YGO formats. I presume you will eventually make a "Top Ten cards that were only ever competitive in Master Duel". Granted, probably only after a few more years.
Hello there. I just discovered your channel and I became a subscriber. Everything that you're talking about is so nostalgic I was 13 14 years old when you go came to the US. I just discovered Master duels on the switch last week and I feel like I'm playing the game all over again for the first time.
One of the most impressive things about this video is how the hell you even got all of this trivia. Like who the hell knows about the history of Speed Duels of all things!
Here’s hoping Speed Duel keeps going to at least the 5ds era and maybe even Arc V. There are so many meh cards from 5ds onward that it wouldn’t be a threat of power creep killing older cards as much as the OCG/TCG.
I personally fear that it'll end up being "physical duel links" even more than it already is if we go too far in mechanics. Either they'd need to greatly limit the power level of synchro and XYZ monsters they add, or they would have to overhaul the entire speed duel rules to make it balanced. Because even Stardust Dragon, despite being a 2500 level 8 synchro, would be pretty strong, and then I'm not talking about the other signer dragons. And for XYZ monsters, I can almost guarantee they won't add a single number card. In general they probably can't add the big generic character bosses, which greatly ruins character immersion (since the skills are mostly character based).
My Zombina/Virus deck was so strong I had won every local tournament for like 2 months straight until a player got sick of me and built a Gaia/Yugi piercing deck 😂. Idc what people say, I loved Speed Dueling.
How about the Top 10 Cards with one fairly simple effect. Cards like Destiny HERO - Malicious, Pot of Greed, or Metaverse that either are or were limited/banned because of how good their simple effects are. Preferably, the list wouldn't just be 10 busted spells from the early days and be a fairly even mix of the 3 types. The other option is to just make 3-4 lists for monsters, spells, traps, and maybe extra deck monsters (if they aren't combined with main deck monsters).

Actually the errata for imperial order did change it. You could choose whether pay the LP cost or not. If you don't, Imperial order is destroyed and you can activate your own spell cards
Except that changed nothing for the card itself because it didn't stay off the banlist for long due to the errata not nerfing it enough which I think is what OP was getting at
I main a flame sprite deck on duel links and I have great success with it when equipped with power of guardians. Get spirit barrier on the field and it's quite nice.
That’s actually really cool that Zoma sees so much play in at least one version of the game. Played a lot of the 5Ds games and Zoma was just an awesome card. Plus, pretty sure Bakura used it in the manga.
Golden Ladybug actually was an integral part of a plethora of meta Stall strategies throughout 2018-2020 Stall strategies used skills like Extra, Extra (after losing 2000 lifepoints, granted you an additional copy of the card you drew for turn) and Destiny Draw (after losing 2000 lifepoints, allowed you to draw any 1 card from your deck during the draw phase) which were NOT once per duel, so Golden Ladybug allowed mass lifepoint gain over time to continue triggering their powerful skills. The rest of the deck was comprised of defensive traps and monsters (and floodgates) to prevent the opponent from pressuring and win through deckout as they played anywhere from 24-30 card decks compared to the every other meta deck playing 20
Another difference between Duel Links and Speed Duel is that Speed Duel cards are not changed from the TCG, which is also why they can be used there as well.
I love the fact that Duel Links is so connected to Speed Duels, you can play as Emma and get yelled by Kaiba: "You're a Third Rate Duelist with a Fourth Rate Deck!"
Imagine Zoma had it's anime effect though. Ending the battle phase and inflicting double damage. Attack into a Moth and inflict 7000 damage. If it had that effect, it might have seen some competitive play in the TCG when it first came out as well. Back in 2010, cards like Swift Scarecrow and Battle Fader were pretty good so a card that could do something like them in 2008 would be decent. Of course, it isn't a hand trap so it isn't as good but it would probably see play in burn stall strategies.
As far as I can tell, in duel links character skills have been nerfed and the meta game power-crept to the point where they are gimmicks instead of strategies now. There's always going to be a meta, some strategy will always be on top, and it will always be frustrating, but I find there's more interaction and actual character in a Weevile parasite burn deck of old than there is in auto summoning a board of Galaxy Eyes monsters in todays duel links.
I have never played in speed duel format of yugioh. But, I honestly do find it shocking to hear that perfectly ultimate great Mark was played in the game knowing it’s a fact in the traditional format it was up with gate guardian
I remember watching a Speed Duel match once where players used more than 1 skill card. If this is legal, are the skill cards restricted by character or is it possible to use skills from different duelists?
Problems All speed spells are garbage and is a failure of a game play mechanic. Only two speed spells are worth playing and that's Angel Baton and a Dark Hole clone which takes the least amount of speed counters to activate. No one likes waiting to use spells and archetype speed spells take way too long to the point its meaningless. No one sane likes Turbo Duels. Anyone that says otherwise are lying.

Top 10 cards that are Worth Waiting for. (I. E., Slow Cards Only, with Longer Worthwhile Waits at least earning some points toward higher rankings) Top 10 Cards that require your Opponent to do something to matter. Top 10 Cards That Earn Their Oppressive Restrictions. Top 10 "Rubber Band" Cards, cards that get better the more you're losing/worse the more you're winning. Top 10 Backup Wincons (can try and fall back onto it if your main wincon becomes Indisputeably Impossible, such as a card that your primary strategy cannot function without getting "Armageddon Designator"ed).
There is a particular reason, in addition to Konami's infinite greed, for which normal cards cannot be used but only SPEED-DUEL ones. While the latter can be used in the TGC?
That's funny since Destiny End Dragoon still isn't accessible legitimately in Duel Links, only usable by dueling level 40 Aster or him as a tag partner, but available at the gate for Speed Duels.
Lol, I love how Zombina has a decent effect despite having lower attack stats than her boyfriend that has 2000 attack, but no effect (if that's what he is to her).
I really wish Konami would give the Speed Duel format more attention, like they do Rush Duels in JP. UNFORTUNATELY, ever since the game's GOD DAMN INCEPTION and being brought over, the entirety of the west gets treated like the red headed step child and Japan always sees the stuff we never do. Ergo, Rush Duels a year and change after Speed Duels in the west, which seems to be FAR more balanced and, you know, HAVE MORE CARE PUT INTO IT than Speed Duels ever would (GOD I wish we could get the Rush Duel cards for the TCG or even Speed Duels, those things are so glossy and CLEAN). To say nothing about the TCG and OCG Master Rule releases...oh, the things the TCG has missed out on...and the scraps Konami keeps throwing at the TCG.
Moth kinda got support with its Fusion retrain with Insect Queen from Hypernova set. As for Serpent, baffling how there’s no archetype centered for it yet.

I've always loved Serpent Night Dragon simply for its design. It was one of my favorite monsters as a kid.
Top 10 cards with erratas that did absolutely nothing in the end, cards like Y-Dragon Head, Imperial Order, Chiper Soldier or E-HERO Burstinatrix

The name Speed Duel actually was first used in the anime during Yugioh Vrains. Then Duel Links was made which used those rules.

You can only use 1 skill, they probably played with custom rules or something

The Yugioh DS games for 5Ds had Speed Spells. Maybe make a toplist about those? Pretty niche but definitely a fun change of pace.

I really wish Konami would give the Speed Duel format more attention, like they do Rush Duels in JP. UNFORTUNATELY, ever since the game's GOD DAMN INCEPTION and being brought over, the entirety of the west gets treated like the red headed step child and Japan always sees the stuff we never do. Ergo, Rush Duels a year and change after Speed Duels in the west, which seems to be FAR more balanced and, you know, HAVE MORE CARE PUT INTO IT than Speed Duels ever would (GOD I wish we could get the Rush Duel cards for the TCG or even Speed Duels, those things are so glossy and CLEAN). To say nothing about the TCG and OCG Master Rule releases...oh, the things the TCG has missed out on...and the scraps Konami keeps throwing at the TCG.

The regular yu gi oh is already 1-5 turns how quick are these speed duels....
There are more turns, but a single turn takes way less time. A 3 games match can easily last less then 20 minutes
