I know a woman who shares some traits with Ashley: she initiates flirts, wants to be pursued, engages into relationships and agrees to a marriage. When married she gets bored, says she would love to have a baby but not necessarily a husband and stirs up drama to look like a victim. Very self-obsessed and emotionally immature.

@@alisong2328 Agreed; she was physically beautiful. If he would have been more masculine in how he handled that relationship, he would have spent much longer getting to actually know her, would not have placed her value above his relationship with his own daughter, would not have agreed to heavily invest money into something he didn't know much about, and would almost surely have noticed the woman was crazy and probably would have seen the same in her mother by the time he would be willing to commit to her let alone to marry her. I think he would feel regret over it not working out with someone younger and very physically attractive, but it'd be far less regret than otherwise.
she got into that relationship (after 13 days), realized he didn’t have as much money….. she also just wanted a child from any man, realized she didn’t like Doug enough and decided he was better off dead to her than alive. Poor guy ~
Yes once she noticed he didn't have a lot of money as she thought his age miraculously started to show. She never really liked him. She just seduced him enough to get him to marry her thinking he was a multimillionaire.
Doug was like a moth who got to close the fire and died. He made a HUGE mistake by returning to Ashley after all the false allegations against him. If only he would have walked away. Being a Bible reader, he should have prayed for WISDOM.
Totally agree!! It makes *NO* sense!! It’s one thing to move in way too soon but a whole other to marry too soon. There’s no GOOD reason to have to marry someone within days of dating!
Both of them sound incredibly toxic. She sounds mentally unstable and it seemed to escalate while she was pregnant, which is not uncommon. He sounds aggressive and manipulative as well - I hate how everyone just glossed over him shooting into the ceiling during their argument as if that’s perfectly acceptable behavior. That’s very threatening and abusive.
Toxic attracts toxic often…she sounded like she has BPD & anyone rushing marriage like that has insecure attachment a huge majority of the time. Going S-L-O-W is key to weeding out personality disorders and toxic people. He didn't have to lie to his daughter and herself. He didn't want to find 9-years older "mother" for his teenager. But young, sexy woman for himself. 😑
Both of them had psychological issues like why be with someone who has accused you a number of times of you poisoning them and even worse that you are molesting your own child? Too much toxicity
There’s definitely truth to this. Healthy-minded people aren’t attracted to such toxicity. Becoming so infatuated with a partner 3 decades younger than you and not even consulting your loved ones and child… then staying with her even through all that chaos… he definitely has his own demons

Wait, I'm confused. Everybody is this video is saying what a great guy Doug is, but he married Ashley just 9 months after his wife died. He didn't tell his daughter until after the marriage and moving her into their home and he shot a gun into the ceiling of their home during an argument. It's outrageous that CPS cleared him knowing that he fired a gun inside the home????
Yes thats the strange religious community comments from everyone who appeared on this doc. What I so far got impression of this guy was that he was not smart and didnt have any business skills.
Literally this, I don't know if it's Ashley's age, looks, or just personality in general, (maybe a combination of all things) that make others judge her so harshly. Compare this case to Danielle Redlick, the difference in the verdicts and public perception is insane, yet the cases share so many similarities.
I'm halfway through the video so far and it is painfully clear that she is SCHIZOPHRENIC...her SEVERE paranoia makes that blatantly clear so I don't understand how nobody else brought that up and asked for ASHLEY to see a psychiatrist ASAP. Also, HOW MANY FALSE REPORTS CAN ONE PERSON MAKE in this country before they get reprimanded for these actions? Eva and her father and their family were not protected whatsoever...the sheer stupidity of the courts and police always boggles my mind.
That poisoning allegation is BS, and so is that false child molestation. She's a liar. I hope she gets 30 years for killing Doug by tempting him all the time with her sensuality.
I read a statistic that 75 % of men who become widowed will remarry within one year. I wonder if that’s true. The fact that he remarried a hot young chick in haste is not so surprising given that statistic
Very true. After my mom died he couldn’t handle the loneliness and found a gf two weeks after my moms passing. Though to be fair the lady did go after my dad first because he is a good man and dad.
Yes I know a man that married in less time(!) when his wife died of ALS. People were stunned and it def. alienated him from his and her family……especially his daughters. You have to be sure to do something like that bc a lot of people will take advantage of you being in grief 😢
As someone who lived in Charleston for years, where on earth did they think they were gonna put a full size ballet studio?? There are no sizable vacant buildings there, it’s a tourist area with no good parking either while we’re talking about it. That dance instructor should have called BS immediately.
I went to college with a girl like this.i had never met anyone like her before. She would lie right in your face and then would argue about the lie as if it were the truth. She believed her own lies and expected others to believe them as well. I had made friends with her and was dumbfounded at first then one day while doing clinicals for school she and I were having a conversation about how all the guys she's ever dated parents didn't like her because they think she's crazy. Right after having that conversation she launched into another conversation about our class saying all kinds of lies that I know were not true. As she stated each lie I stated the truth. She began to argue with me and tried to twist the conversation and my words. In that moment I realized that she really was crazy and all those guys parents were right to keep their sons away from her. Needless to say I began to avoid her after that. I failed to mention she's a pretty girl with a very charming, flirty, and outgoing nature just like Ashley. She's a medical professional in a hospital somewhere right now. I hope I never see her again.
I also forgot to mention her mom was just like Ashley's mom... Crazy too, except her mom didn't enable her like Ashley's, they actually stayed at odds with each other. Something was always telling something going on at her home.
This woman seems to be completely unhinged. But then again, why a 54 year old man thinks that a 24 year old woman would really want him for reasons beyond financial means, is beyond me. Johnny Depp anyone? Tale as old as time! SMH I truly feel for the daughter who is now left alone because her father lusted after a woman and lost all sense of reason and the baby who is being raised by the woman who raised a lunatic.
Everything about this story is insane and extreme. 30-year age difference, meeting 9 months after his wife's sudden death? Bonding over guns, Trump, and supposed Christian values. Her nude pics made him marry her after 13 days so he could sleep with her "morally." Not telling his poor 15-year-old daughter, then saying she needs a mother figure? Who's 9 years older and she doesn't know. Then trophy wife decides having a baby at the same time as starting a company is a good idea. What a huge, sad mess. The only person I feel bad for is the daughter.
Gentlemen…… please THINK with your actual brain and not your lower head! Anything over a 10-12 year age difference, ESPECIALLY A 30 YEAR age difference needs more consideration than 2 weeks! MOST 24 year old women aren’t terribly attracted to an AVERAGE 55 year old man…. So you have to consider what her real motives are. If you aren’t that stupid and are ok with the situation, knowing the real reason she’s with you then fine, just remember you signed up for whatever comes of that. Obviously, there are always exceptions to this, there are likely some couples in that situation with a huge age gap (and this goes for the reverse female with MUCH younger male) that are together for non nefarious reasons, that’s likely the exception and not the standard rule.
the real motive with you guys is always the same, money, but that's not bad, it's no criticism, you would be crazy to go with someone poor if you can also be with someone rich, the bad part is that there's too much lying about it
I’ve been in a situation with a young stepmother who is much younger than my dad. It’s hard, because it’s the type of young attractive girl who is used to getting what she wants when she wants and doesn’t have the best emotional intelligence.
Pure Insanity. He was obviously emotionally vulnerable. How could he marry her so quickly after the death of his wife? But this young woman was obviously mentally unstable and manipulative. She's lying and trying to get more money out of him in the divorce. I think she's crazy.
So she tried to get away… well, he was not naive to pursue her after she already left him. I think it’s funny when family act like the victim was stupid. The woman deserves to be punished but let’s not act like a 24 and 54 year old relationship with this much drama was a surprise for a man his age.
This is what happens to older men who think they can impress a twenty year old. Guys, please date your age and don't think a woman twenty years your junior loves you.
There are so many good women who would have loved and appreciated a good man.....people always seem to chase what they should be running away from. Sad
Why would you get on a stand and testify that he gave you a poisoned gift when you turned that gift into police and they found nothing to be wrong with it?
Ashley was researching and knew about Doug before she even met him. She was preparing to sweep him off his feet. Unfortunately he was gullible. She took his money, his baby, and his life.
I 100% don't think that man tried to poison her 🤦🏽♀️. Her putting the baby in a plastic bubble was comical I'm sorry. She was just leaving bread crumbs for the day she finally did what she did. It's sad the lengths some will go to ruin folks lives. Continued prayers for his daughter on her journey thru this life.
What a BAD FATHER!!! How do you put someone else first before your kid when your kid just lost their parent? Actions have consequences. Speaks to the kind of person it was. Just sayin'.
Any parent who is caught lying about the other in the legal atmosphere should automatically lose all custody and parents rights. The child should always come first, and when a parent makes it personal, it begs the question, “What else are they capable of”?
@@ekoj3121 It doesn’t seem to have been used as a threat, maybe more like a means to make her stop talking or to gain control of a (probably) chaotic scene. Finally, an episode not already available on the channel! I don't like how overly sympathetic they're trying to make Doug out to be. Something sounds off with all three of them, including Eva. One worse than the other, though. Eva just seems to be enjoying the attention a little too much and making her father, who got out a gun and shot into the ceiling during an argument, out to be a saint. "He was there for me [when her mother died] and took on the role of mother too!" --- yeah, for less than nine months before he met and married a woman young enough to be your sister and didn't tell you about it until after the fact. He was clearly infatuated with the woman young enough to be his daughter and couldn't wait to replace his dead wife, whose death does seem a little suspicious (perhaps I've watched too much true crime) and appears to skate through life by shoving his responsibilities onto someone else (the business, raising his first daughter) and throwing temper tantrums when he's not getting his way (the gun). Wouldn't even be surprised if he'd threatened Ashley or even claimed/hinted at being responsibile for his first wife's death just to scare/manipulate her. And Ashley also sounds unhinged. I don't appreciate how they and commentors here are implying or outright saying Ashley was only in it for his money; clearly they both only had eyes for one thing - him for her (young) body and alleged beauty and her his money. Sounds like a good deal among consenting adults.
That woman was crazy. I think she planned on doing all of this to start with. When she couldnt prove he was unfit and couldnt prove that he was a bad person or parent, she killed him. She just wanted money and to be spoiled. Such a selfish person.
This man was no saint, but he didn’t deserve what happened to him. His children are victims in all this. I hope Eva and his other daughter grow to live a healthy and beautiful life.

I was attracted to 55+ year old men (still am, but I'm not so young now) when I was 20. But I was definitely the exception to the rule!
