    Hi what do u think of self watering pots that u fill the water on the bottom compartment so the roots could absorb what they need? I still pour a lil water on the top but not much. I travel a bit so this is helpful but there is no way to know if it needs more water cause the first 3 inches are dry all the time. Also once the water on the bottom molded. Any recommendations so I can continue using this pot. I have a fiddle leaf and this type pot works well with it and is thriving but my monstera is looking droopy and browning edges

      Hi Geze,
      Great Question. Yes, can't check the top soil if using a self watering pot.
      I find with a self watering pot just make sure the water is completely used before refilling. I find that help to prevent mould.

    Hi, this is great video. My monstera deliciosa and thai constellation started geting black spots (that are not dry or crispy, but kinda moist). This is consistent with a fungal disease like you discussed. I have been treating them with copper fungicide, spraying the leaves on the plants, but it's not really helping. The disease has spread to my pothos collection. I'm going to pull the plants out to clean out the root with hydrogen peroxide. My question is, will the plants survive the repotting because it is winter now, and can the leaves be saved without hacking the entire leave off, including the petiole?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Susan, Thanks for watching and sharing your Monstera woos! It does sound like fungal disease especially as it has spread to your pothos.
      I would move it to an area with more air circulation but away from your other plants to prevent spread. If most of the leaves are effected and the fungalcide isn't working, l would cut the whole leaf off to prevent spread.
      If there is fungal disease occurring and the roots are fine l would leave as is especially in winter to prevent from over stressing the plant. If there us root rot occurring as well then it has to be repotted.

  • @denishabakrania

    Hey, my monstera leaves are turning black on the edges but not all over and eventually turning yellow and dying. It starts with some black patches in the edge of the leaves and slowly fading color. I can’t diagnose the problem here. I checked for root rot but there’s none. I’m definitely not overwatering the plant and I’m giving it fertiliser for a better growth as well. How do I save my plant?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Denish, Thanks for sharing your Monstera issue! If it's an old leaf sounds like it's just normal aging of the leaf. If it's a young leaf then check the soil hasn't been dry for too long between watering. Happy Monstera Gardening ❤️

    • @denishabakrania
      @denishabakrania ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PlantNationMinh hey, I inspected my monstera last week and it was a root rot problem. However, I wasn’t aware that you need to spray hydrogen peroxide to stop the spread. I just cleaned the roots and repotted it in a well draining soil. Do you think it’s going to survive?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @denishabakrania Hi , The thing about root rot is there is never a 100% guarantee that the plant will survive. There are things we can do to help increase the chances of survival (cleaning the rots help, like what you did) and alot of plants a pretty tough in general. At this stage can only wait and see. Hope your green baby survives 🤞❤️

    Loved your video!! What about curling leaves? My monstera has 6 regular leaves and 5 leaves that are curling along the edges or folding in half what does this signify?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Brandy,
      Wonderful question and thanks for lovely comment! Curling can be first sign your monstera needs water. If you have watered your monstera consistently when it needs it then Curling can be caused by lack of humidity.
      Monstera will curl the leaves to try and increase the humidity around the leaves. I suggest you increase the humidity and the leaves should uncurl.
      Thanks for your support. Happy Monstera Gardening ❤️

    What is the best thing to do for really bad root rot? I’ve already tried a few things like moving the plant to a sunnier spot and not watering it at all until it dried out. I also took it out to inspect the roots, cleaned them well and divided it so half the plant is now in a vase of water and the other half is in the original pot but with new soil. It’s still showing signs of root rot. Should I trim back the roots or use hydrogen peroxide?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi ,
      l would cut all the rotten roots away and wash the roots. Dip it in rooting hormone powder and then grow it in moist Sphagnum moss with few pieces of Horticultural Charcoal. I haven't used Hydrofen peroxide before for root rot.

      Hi Acietco1, Good question! l have a video explaining the different ways to increase humidity without using a humidifier th-cam.com/video/BLnkfSMCOk0/w-d-xo.html
      To increase warm increase the room temperature with heater but make sure no warm air is blowing onto the plant. Move the monstera a little back from window so it's not too cold when the temperature drops at night. Warp it in a plastic sheet if it's too cold. Those would be my suggestions.

      Hi Canislupus, Thanks for watching the content and the good question. Seems like you have a combination of issues happening. Small round black spots sound like fungal disease and the edges of the leaves turning brown is likely inconsistent watering issue. Happy Monstera Gardening ! ❤️

    Hi , thanks for the video! My monster started to have yellowing leaves which turned brown after time. At first i thought that i overwaterred it, and i thought my monstera has a root rotted. But when i checked the root, it was perfect . There is no rotten root. So i confused, what is the possiblity the caused of yellow browning leaves?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, Thanks for watching the content and your interesting question.
      If the leaves are near the bottom of the stem then that could be normal ageing.
      If the leaves are near the top and the whole leaves are yellowing check for pest and being more consistant with watering. The fluctuation between periods of the soil being too wet or too dry can cause Browing/ yellowing as well.
      Thanks for your support. Happy Monstera Gardening ❤️

    • @vivinvindiata7715
      @vivinvindiata7715 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahhh thank you for replay my question. The yellowing leaves are in bottom part and also in top parts. I already checked for pest and there are no pest. I think maybe because the soil is too wet, or maybe because I give too much fertilizer? On the past i gave liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks. But now I already stop all fertilizer since 3 weeks.

    Can the leaves survive if they start going brown and crispy on the edges?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matthew,
      Great question.
      Yes the leaf can still survive as long as the majority of the leaf is still healthy. If most of the leaf is brown then l tend cut if off as its not doing much for the plant and the aesthetic reasons. Happy Monstera Gardening ❤️

    Hi! Thanks for this video!
    I juat repotted my monstera as it was time and i thought there was some root rot (it was perfectly clean!) and i lost a few lower leabes as expected. But suddenly two of my larger leaves are getting brown tips with the yellow ring. Its been aclamated to the humidity for some time now i think so i was wondering if this browning could still be from stress of the repot? Also, some of my newer leaves are still very very droopy, is this associated?

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, Thanks for watching the content. Indeed it could still be the stress the plant went through when repotting the monstera.
      Did you go 1-2 pot size bigger or even bigger then that?

    Why is the smaller bottom leaves getting yellow

    • @PlantNationMinh
      @PlantNationMinh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ann,
      Great question! Usually the bottom leaves regardless if it's small or large are older leaves. It's usually natural aging of the leaves. If it's suddenly a bunch of bottom leaves yellowing at once then need to look at other causes that are explained in the video. Happy Monstera Gardening ❤️
