Stanton was never really one of my favorites back then but dude is legend and the epitome of a factory Honda guy from that era. Made Bayle cry uncle that day which I don't think I've ever seen before lol
Such a shame Ricky Johnson carrier got cut short in its prime he would won numerous more national championships.including the 89 Supercross wich he had already put his stamp on he was at top of his game when he got hurt in 89 an what could have been we will never no motocross is a dangerous game.i always think what David Bailey could have done In motocross had his carrier not got cut short
What if? RJ broke his wrist in the end of 88 I think at a national. But I don't know how well he would have done against David Bailey. I think I would have put some money of Bailey taking a couple of the championships RJ won, after Bailey got hurt. Then enter JMB in 1990. One thing is for sure. The world missed some great racing.
@@EarthSurferUSA nope he broke it in practice at the 89 national at gainsville spent a year rehabbing came back won gainsvile national 1990 an Re broke his wrist at the daytona Supercross two weeks later an ended his career. No your facts be4 commenting
@@brianbooher7318 I usually do (know my facts before commenting). Ya got me on that one. You were lucky. But even though we could never know for sure,---I still say with RJ and Bailey out,---we missed come great racing. Now, what was the name of the track, a pre season warm up, where Lechien, (on the Kawasaki), brake checked RJ to win the slightly muddy outdoor track, and RJ punched Ronnie in the face after the race? RJ apologized.
I'm just pissed they cut the interview with third place Brian Deegan. He was so soft spoken the a few years later he was a rebel. I wanted to record the interview
How many people, fans and riders, would be crying if a MX/SX track was this bumpy today? They would not know how to set up the suspension for this track, and the new fans would hate it because 4th place can get lapped by the best racers. "equality" is not racing. :)

How Daytona was intended. Thanks for sharing
Much thanks

Now I see where your first "what a shame for RJ" comment came from. Min 50:15

Stanton may be the best American mx rider in history based on attitude alone, they guy was hard as nails.
How many people, fans and riders, would be crying if a MX/SX track was this bumpy today?

Imagine the mayhem!!
Looks like my back yard track more than a pro event
😂
Fans suck. They are the ones cheering when riders go down. Our asses pucker
The hits we take racing
"I am here to win!" (said by several of these guys)
There are 5 words in a row, that we never hear anymore from the pro USA racers in this sport.
Nothing hurts more than hearing a guy says he's looking to finish middle of the pack.
Just go home if you're not here to win
RJ suffering the "embrace of the serpent".
