This is such a beautiful song. Layla with his band Derrick and the Dominos is an incredible song. Do the long version because it is spectacular. Clapton is a genius guitar player with a huge catalog that spans over 50 years. If a woman dresses up for a date with you, she is doing it just for you, she wants you to be pleased to be with her and for the evening to be special. Clapton has always had the best back up singers and he never fails to showcase them.

Hahaha!! I LOVE Relationship Biz!! However, what I've always "got" from this song is it's more of a description of how his feelings for her and the love she gives to him.... make her beautiful in his eyes and make him feel wonderful regardless of what's going on around them.... that kind of love can amplify everything and have all five senses and horizons on high. Everywhere you look, everything you taste, touch, smell, hear or feel is better when that person is around. it can be almost like being on a "high" at times.... IDK, that's always been my take on the song (or maybe i'm just weird! lol!).
anyway with Music as with all Art.... as long as it moves you and means something to you, the artist's meaning of it is secondary.... Great reaction as usual!! Peace :)

I always got the sense that the first verse is a little impatient and going through the motions even though he does mean it, the second is realizing that euphoric feeling you're describing, and the third is that gentle and sincere intimacy and gratitude that needs no explanation to those who know it.

Clapton was one of the early guitarists, playing with the Beatles and so many of the early greats, and then finally in a solo career. He was basically there at the birth of rock.
Like Gilmour, Clapton doesn't have to hit a whole lot of notes to convey a feeling. His notes are melodic and not crowding each other.

ALSO: Every time I think of "Layla" I immediately think of this other AWESOME song that you REALLY need to do a reaction to...

Love Clapton's style, his playing got him the nickname "Slowhand" from how intentional and effortless it seems. People are recommending Cocaine and it's a hit for a reason, and he did a good cover of I Shot The Sherriff. He also did a bunch of work with B.B. King that's worth checking out too, anything with good quality will be a banger.

I’ve never seen this live version!!! Awesome!!! The female at the end is not on the studio version … she adds quite the impact for the ending of this song!!!
I just love how you share your personal stories with us sometimes!!! We live and we learn 😉 that’s what it’s all about 🤷‍♀️ That and you can never go wrong with a pair of red Chuck’s 😜😂
Now, you can’t listen to the great Eric Clapton without checking out “Cocaine” (I would suggest at least a little something “extra” in the cup though before you hit play 😉😂) … and then of course “Layla”!!!
Aight, that’s enough from me 😜😂😂😂

Oh wow!! After I finished watching and writing my comments, I scrolled to see who's here and BOOM... I see your comment and you recommended "Layla" and "Cocaine" too!! (so did a bunch of us Lol!!) However, I wrote that I didn't know if Eric's "Layla" was a cover of Derik and The Dominos.... and low and behold someone (Sherri Heim up above) answered that question!! Hahaha and DUH!! I had NO IDEA Eric was the singer in Derik and The Dominos!! Learn something new every day!! Love it!!
And yeah I agree, a nice cold one would be great for Biz to sip on while reacting to "Cocaine"!! (I'd love to know what he has in that cup some nights!! lol!!)
I also suggested "Lola" by the Kinks.... I don't know why, but every time I think of "Layla".... "Lola" pops in my head!! It's weird!! lol!! good seeing ya!! :)

@@michaelgilbert197 yeah, I saw some suggestions for Layla, but I didn’t see any for Cocaine 🤷‍♀️ then, of course I get the “noti” for this and sure enough, I see you suggested that also!!! Great minds think alike!!! (Don’t judge me because I like Korn 🤷‍♀️😜😂😂😂 honestly, I suggested the wrong song 🤦‍♀️ that one is a little “hard” for the beginner listener … they really do have some good songs, I promise 😉😂) Anyhow, I didn’t scroll again to see the answer to your Derek & the Dominos question … yeah, Clapton has been in many groups … he’s a true classic musician 🎸🤘🔥
Also, I’m not 💯 … but I’m pretty sure Biz did a review for Lola … I’m writing this so I can’t check … but for some reason I think he did 🤷‍♀️ I think of that song too when just typing or reading “Layla” lol, even though they are TOTALLY different songs 🤷‍♀️😂 like I said … great minds 😜

I checked Biz's page for "Lola" and I didn't see it. Leo did and it was HYSTERICAL!!! I kept waiting for him to "get" it (cuz he ALWAYS hears the lyrics!!).... but nope... he said "I gotta meet Lola" at the end of the song!! He did NOT catch on to any of it.... he LOVED the groove so much though!! It was TOO much FUN!!
