When Elphaba made the poppies put everyone to sleep. Fiero didn’t get affected by it, because he’s the future scarecrow in the “Wizard Of Oz”, and he didn’t get affected by the poppies in that movie either cause he’s not destined to flesh and blood. He’s merely scarecrow instead.
I was the only single guy in my cinema to see this and I only went because there was nothing else to see. So as a straight , Irish guy who's indifferent to broadway musicals saw this on a wet Sunday while hung over and I'd say it's one of if not my favourite movie of the decade. Top notch entertainment.
not "none" , you can see some awesome CGI in the eyes. but that's what's so cool about it, combining practical and VFX to create something greater. cgi is an art unto itself and if done well, you either don't even notice it, or it absolutely blows your mind, whichever is best. but yes, you're correct in that they built a giant Wizard mechanical head, it's gorgeous! 🩷🫧💚✨
Everything aboutthis is incredible, especially the songs. Cynthia Eviro and Ariana Grande have fantastic voices. "Defying Gravity", gave me chills, especially that final note.
I think they had to cut a lot of the song numbers out for copyright. TH-cam is notorious for taking down these videos so they have to edit them down to adhere to the copyright rules.
That Ozdust dance scene with Glinda and Elphaba will always make me cry. It’s such a tender and beautiful moment between the girls that changed their relationship. It also makes you realize that they’re more similar than people think. As someone who hasn’t seen the broadway musical, this has to be one of my favorite films I saw in 2024.💚💗 thank you so much for watching! I love your reactions!🧹🫧
I wish they had put in the Deleted scenes into the movies it males the story better a lot but they didn't want the movie to be 3 hours, honestly I wouldn't mind if it was, hopefully they Finish the CGI and put them into a directors cut or something
Spoiler for part 2 (that is talked about in this video already) I think it’s kinda funny the Goldblum voice is so identifiable in the affair scene pretty much giving away that the wizard is her father because the original musical cast had Joel Grey as the wizard and back in the day, any remotely knowledgeable theatre fan also immediately knew that twist the moment his voice was heard lol. Kind of a full circle moment
I instantly heard Goldblum with the singing, but I knew from the book/theatre show the twist. I’m surprised more haven’t picked up on it, and also the very beginning with the horse seems to elude people
So a tie back to the wizard of oz. The reason fiyero doesn’t fall asleep is because in the wizard of oz,the scarecrow also doesn’t fall asleep because it doesn’t affect him.
Regarding why lil Elphaba is in black, I think she’s wearing dark colors to avoid further attention. Black isn’t bright, doesn’t draw the eye, allows her to recede into the background.
my headcanon is that she's mourning the loss of her mother, and doing so with Victorian morning dress traditions where you wear black for long periods of time after the death. but maybe more like in a subconscious way, or like a THEME way, not like Elphaba actually chose to do that and thought of it that way perhaps, but that it's part of the text of the film. I can't put it into words right now but I think you maybe get what I mean 😅
I’m really glad I was able to experience Wicked on the big screen last year! The story and the music was stellar, a real piece of cinematic art. When it comes to musical film adaptations, this one is currently my second favorite; next to The Greatest Showman! I’m excited to see the following film, Wicked: For Good as well.
Elphaba has a lot in common with Grinch, Gwen from Cursed Princess Club, and Shrek. They are all the holy square of green skinned people who are bullied by certain people for not meeting their expectations of beauty
This film is definitely ozmazing and deserves all the Ozcars! I will never forget my first experience of seeing the musical and seeing all the beautiful sets and the costume designs, as well as the amazing talented cast. I really connected with Elphaba, so I was so hyped to see this iconic story come to the screen! Ironically the first musical I ever performed was the Wizard of Oz where I played Professor Marvel and the Wizard. And I even got the chance to perform the show again and share the stage with my nephew. I can’t wait to see the conclusion in Wicked: For Good. There’s a novel with its own saga the musical and the film is based on; it’s however different, darker, and more mature. Fun fact: the tune to “Unlimited” is the same as to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Elphaba is a play on the name L Frank Baum the author of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. 👸🏼🪄🫧💖🖤💚✨🧹🧙🏿♀️
All this time, we were wrong about the witch. This is why she turned evil I feel bad for her and she wanted to meet her hero and turns out he was a bad man Never meet your heros

Imagine if Disney is ever doing a live action Hercules, then they should probably cast… Paul Mescal as Hercules Ariana Grande as Megara and bring back Danny DeVito from the 1997 original animated film as Phil.

that's the point. in the real world people make up fake things to oppress each other over. meanwhile, we live in a world with all kinds of insane things! it's normal to you because you're used to it. green skin is not normal in their world, no one else has ever had it to their knowledge, how do you think someone in the real world would be treated if they were actually born green or blue for example?? talking animals are normal in their world and they're still being oppressed too by the wizard who came from Omaha, Nebraska. comments like these prove that a lot of people aren't grasping the basic themes of Wicked, and the entire point of the story. it's about the oppression of marginalized groups, a fascist state, and propaganda using those marginalized groups to scapegoat them to the public.
I was surprised you assumed the figure riding the horse was Elphaba, seeing how just before Glinda was saying that the wicked wich was dead. 😂 Have you seen the theater version?
I get that Nessa wants to have friends and its probably hard because everyone focuses on Elphaba and maybe they're ableist but she should stick up for her sister
No Elphaba and Nessa are sisters. Have you not seen the original classic Wizard of Oz. Dorothys house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East w/ the ruby slippers which is Nessa. And the Wicked Witch of the West arrives and that’s Elphaba. And she’s angry with Dorothy for killing her sister. And wants the ruby slippers back but Glinda uses her magic and puts them on Dorothy’s feet. Glinda and Elphaba start off as enemies/loathe each other and then later become best friends. And obviously this movie Wicked is just showing us how it all started of how they became friends but went their separate ways sadly.
@@amber.ren_1995 I have seen the movie. Honestly I didn't know Elphaba's sister was the one crushed by the house. I honestly thought it was Elphaba. Also it's been a while since I saw the movie start to finish
@@Isabella-tu9fb Yeah so when the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) arrives she asks all the munchkins everyone there even Glinda and asks “who killed my sister”? Glinda used her magic and put the slippers on Dorothy and made it so the witch couldn’t take them off unless Dorothy died. And also the slippers well if you’ve seen the musical or of course the movie that came out. The Elphaba from Wicked would probably want them for sentimental reasons cuz they were her sisters of course. Just like she keeps the elixir bottle that resembles her dead mother. But the the Elphaba from The Wizard of Oz was wanting it cuz of the power that it holds. Obviously I know the slippers help take Dorothy home. But other than that I don’t know what other power it’s able to do. And Wicked technically takes before, during and after ‘The Wizard of Oz’ but for the most part a prequel. But yeah I don’t know everything of course cuz I haven’t looked it all up and I also didn’t read any of the books.
