What's your favorite European dish? 🍽
Tough call haha
Pasta!
Pierogi😋
Pizza
Fries!
Apart from Paella , there is a much diverse cuisine in europe. Seriously are these your top picks?
I couldn't agree more. Seriously?
Das schnitzel war schon geil
I understand that you are a German outlet but featuring Curry Wurst and leaving out Pizza is a crime!
As a German, I don’t even understand this and I really like this dish. It’s good. But it’s nothing special. You get it as a little kid on a hot summers day and it’s very nostalgic as a result and almost never a bad choice but world famous?
Paella is the best, by far! It is extremely complicated to ellaborate properly, and super tasty!!
This one deserves many many sequels, hehe
Haha, would you like to see some? :)
@@DWFood I would and I can't wait, hehe.
The rest of the world must be laughing so loudly at DW fries bread and sausage amongst "must eats" 😂
ya its just embarassing
It's only part 1
Are you disputing the fact fries are world-famous? Have you tried them? If so, and given the fact fries are served all over the world, it goes to show how popular they are. Same with baguette. It's not easy to make perfect baguette, just like it's not easy to make perfect pizza, etc. The art of cooking / making food is in making something that looks simple and easy in something that is delicious. Same goes with e.g. sushi, an omelette, tofu, making a good sauce,... Everyone can do it, but few can master it.
@@l.d.t.6327 idk for a dish to be a must-try needs to have a bit of novelty
@@kurnugiakurn3567 why? you've got these dishes perfectly replicate where you live?
Equiparar la paella con unas salchichas con ketchup, una barra de pan y unas patatas fritas con mayonesa es de tener unos huevos del tamaño de dos cocos, la verdad
Currywurst - sausage and sauce, AND...?
Mention the curry powder!
If you want to make Belgian fries yourself be sure to wash them in a lot of water before frying in order to remove the excess starch.
Did so today, and fried them in Beef fat
And use bintje potatoes
@@papiezguwniak Absolutely, good choice!
@@BeaglefreilaufKalkarThat's the best indeed!
We called the fries. Pommes frites and always with mayonnaise in Germany! The best!
Belgian can do better, trust me you should stay with currywurst
Mmm can't wait to try German food, coming to Berlin in sept
@@traceyweeks6897 cool, you'll get the chance to try a lot of Turkish and Chinese food
Or Pommes Schranke - with Mayo and Ketchup
Belgian fries are the best. Thick cuts, fried in beef tallow. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Served with a huge heap of slightly accid mayonnaise. 😋
At the end of the day its just all about your personal preferences.....so, as an Indian who has grown up on biryanis and pulaos, I was honestly not impressed by the paella I tried in Madrid. Maybe it was a touristy version I tried, though it was a very highly rated high-end restaurant we tried paella at....I liked weiner schnitzel in Vienna but the best weiner schnitzel I had was in Milan, Italy as the cotletta milanesa....
My vote for best European food (from my limited experience) goes to Czech food....I just loved the simple heartiness of meat, sauce and dumplings or mashed potatoes, sausages etc. Everything I tried was tasty and I just can't believe Czech food is not more well-known....
I agree Madrid is not the best place for paella. It's also not very typical from there. Madrid are better at hearty stews.
I also 100% agree the Schnitzel is just a bad milanese (we call Schnitzels milanese because it originates in Milan).
My favourite European cuisine is Italian because, if it is not a touristic place, it has always been lovely.
But in the end, there might be so many other dishes I have never tried that could be absolutely lovely. Like, I have no idea how Hungarian cuisine tastes like.
The mistake was that you tried paella in Madrid!!!
You have to go to Valencia for paella.
loved your comment@@zuzucha5881
If I get the chance to go to Spain again....I will seriously try for a better paella :-)@@drrd4127
@@zuzucha5881thats really sad in general if you dont know anything about hungarian goulash or czech knedliky, so try asap 😀
Thank you Belgium for the fries.
I could add 39 more dishes to try but I agree with the list of 5 that was shown.
Traditionally you eat the Currywurst with french fries on the side. Best of many worlds :D
i think just Paella deserves to be on the list, and why they missed to include Italian food !!
❤❤❤ love all of them...
Que delicioso se ve todo ❤ me encanta
All lovely, especially the Weiner Schnitzel, but what about a few more healthy options? Gazpacho, Greek salad, Salad Nicoise, Ratatouille, Stuffed Peppers, Bouillabaisse, Soup au Pistou, Panzanella, Bruschetta, Minestrone...
You're right. It's not a good idea to eat greasy dishes very day. What about Spanish Gazacho? Very tasty! th-cam.com/video/1dDWFYhR82Q/w-d-xo.html
Semen has a lot of protein, as you know. Freely available all across Europe.
Wiener Schnitzel!
I would say a Danish hotdog with all the condiments is better than currywurst
You missed pizzas 🍕 and spaghetti 🍝 🇮🇹, gelato 🍨 in Italy 🇮🇹. Potatoes 🥔 in Greece and Czech Republic’s texture are very special sorts of chewy, their French fried is crispy outside but moist inside. Delicious 😋.
relax, its called part 1 4 a reason
Delicious 😊😊😊
I never had bad curry wurst in Germany. (:
Agree with you 5/5! I just would have changed the order a little.
Although I Agree with number one is really great, you should have Mussels with them, Moules et des Frites
It’s a very special combination, indeed.
Well, how about fish and chips?😊
Here are some mussels and fries for you :) th-cam.com/video/xpU1bxTQN7s/w-d-xo.html
Dutch herring 😂 you can't eat these popular delicacies elsewhere. Like the rare Durian in South East Asia
@@ssuwandi3240
Jeah, a nice Herring, freshly cleaned for you and then eat is, for me without Onions and pickels.
Wow😊
Very hard to beat fries indeed
Greek moussaka? Italian pasta?
Might make it into the next video, ok?
Mousakka is originally an Egyptian dish...
@@seraybozkir2270 "The modern Greek variant was created in the 1920s by Nikolaos Tselementes"
If im travelling in europe, the last thing that i want to eat is fry. Fries are worldwide, best to try real local food.
Que gusto ❤❤❤
I vote paella of all five. I am a fearless home cook and foodie.
Italian pizza too!
Please add la pizza napoletana to your next edition 🪷
We'll keep that in mind for the next one :) In the meantime, here's another video about pizza we made some time ago: th-cam.com/video/d4HFNqsHirw/w-d-xo.html
You forgot to mention real Belgian pommes frites are fried in beef tallow
I like paella, but those pans are difficult to clean. One time I tried to take a shortcut by tying them together with a rope and tossing them into the ocean overnight. When I came back the next morning, all of them washed away except one. Man, my boss was so mad at me for doing that.
Like I watched eurovision version for food. You must be kidding me
Where is the beans broth from Serbia? Comee oon, you must try it.
Thanks for the tip! We'll check it out.
So the top culinary treat that needs to be eaten in Europe is…
Fried potatoes.
Wow.
The guy who made this video is clearly from Germany so you need to take it with a grain of salt. Well, maybe more than just a grain 😁
Mussels vs fries in Belgium ? If I have to choose only one it would be mussels %100 !
mussels with fries! why not both?
Golonka with potato and sauerkraut is just epic. Goulash with potato pancake is to die for. Keep your fries, croissant etc. Central and Eastern Europe definitely has the better food
They don't have better food. They have other food. Everyone has a different taste.
Here is my top 5:
1. Lasagne (Italy)
2. Paella (Spain)
3. Boeuf Bourguignon (France)
4. Bacalhau (Portugal)
5. Schnitzel (Germany)
Yes currywurst!
Albanian are taking over the French Fries industry in Brussels . Min 42 🇧🇪🇦🇱
Que delicias del mundo! 😊
No me compares una paella con una salchicha con ketchup
Dang. Didn’t get a chance to try them before Europe’s demise.
.. Fish 'n' Chips 🇬🇧..
Missing Italy, the best cusine in Europe
French fries, hot dog with curry and breaded veal are the best European food ?
No
WRONG: The best fries in the world, Currywurst which has the best wurst combined with a super tasty sauce (the most popular street food) and the best tasty Schnitzel with a super fluffy crust. Seems like you sad dud know ZERO about food. Btw, this is not about the BEST. It's about things you should try on your journey because they are super delicious. Europe excels in all of these foods.
I have travelled 32 countries, some of them more times [different cities], and I have tryed all this food :D
Quite surprised, no Italian recipes😢
We could do a whole video just about Italian food :)
(except Italy!)
we can t get bintje potatoes now a days
Potica and štruklji.
Where ist Pizza Neapoletana?
If real tomatoes cannot meet demand then lemon can work on it's real limit."
What about Döner Kabab and Pizza?
I don't think that Kebab qualifies as a European dish.
@@grivza in my opinion, all shown dishes do not qualify as a european dish.
@@joergf6 Why is that?
@@grivza It was invented in Berlin
@@BeaglefreilaufKalkarnope actually not
kebab places are all over everywhere in Europe but you didn't even mention about it? what is the reason? why because it is turkish?
Lolol what a list😂
Wait!! no pizza???
No pizza?
I'm shocked to know that Potato Fries are actually from Belgium. 😳 Also, German Curry? Curry isn't even an European name. 😮
Garlic or snails? i will stick to garlic
LOL! Zero Italy and Greece...but Belgium? OK...Whatever you say...
Besides paella and baguette, the reast it's quite dull
I was in Amsterdam last summer and one of the main things we wanted to do was try the fries, Luckily, our hotel was just up the street from a ‘Manneken Pis’ which is supposed to have the best fries in all of Holland. Okay, they were good but honestly, I’ve had the same quality fries here in the U.S. A large cone is more than enough to fill you up so it’s an inexpensive meal. I would recommend trying them but just don’t get your hopes up…
How about döner
If that's the best you can come up with, then you need to get out more....
I feel disrespected and violated! spend 5 minutes to see fries coming at no. 1 !!!!
Imagine the paella chef or baguette chef in this video watching this video to find the no. 1!!!!!!!!!
Danish smorrebrod.
Where's goulash?
only paella is the exception, The rest is greasy, there is so much variety in Europe, the cuisine of the Balkans, the one from Eastern Europe that has healthy and very delicious recipes With this video they are giving me to understand that European food only boils down to French fries (not even potatoes are of European origin) and fat.
My używaliśmy i używamy soli, pieprzu, szczypioru, europejskich ziół, gorczycy i innych podobnych.
Paella is the name of the dish and pan so when you say paella pan, you are saying pan pan to a Spaniard.
As an italian I am outraged you put wurst😂
5 world famous dishes from Europe without pizza? Tipical german N.always against Italy
We didn't say that these are the only top 5 dishes. And who said that there won't be a second episode? 😉We had a long feature about pizza some time ago: th-cam.com/video/d4HFNqsHirw/w-d-xo.html

What not to eat in europe..
The classic French baguette is not sourdough. And whilst I realise that there is bound to be some German bias here, Currywurst a European classic? Really?
Pizza would have been a more credible choice.
I think this is not so much european classics, but classics from european countrys. In Germany, the Currywurst is definitly a very popular dish. But for every european country there is at least a handfull of dishes, that you should try when you visit there. So for all european countrys you would have over hundred dishes alltogether that are worth trying.
@@TheKraken123 For Germany I would really prefer Döner Kebab
@@BeaglefreilaufKalkar Maybe, but its arabic or crossover cuisine. Not what I would see as tradional german cooking.
@@TheKraken123 Curry is from India, and fries? Potato from South America
@@TheKraken123 Currywurst is not particularly popular in southern Germany - you won't see many people eating it in Munich for example.
Berlin is not Germany any more than London is Britain or New York America.
And... Currywurst is disgusting.
Pommes, Brot und Currywurst😅
I don’t really understand the hype about currywurst, I’ve tried it a couple times and it is barely edible 😅 and the rest of the list is also weird and german-centric, there are loads and loads of better dishes in Europe. I understand taste is subjective but this is not DW food´s proudest moment.
That's not Currywurst that is Sausage and Ketchup. The real deal is only found outside of Berlin and is made with selfmade CURRYsauce.
He said he DOES make it by himself. Can't you just understand what he said??? He said he makes it himself with Ketchup, vinegar and his own spice mix. Which INCLUDES CURRY SPICE 🙄 Also, people are free to do the power on it by themselves as you can see in the video.
@@kaddy0306 he opened a metro container of ketchup
@@kaddy0306 No i am actually from germany and he said it is plain ketchup and like every other ketchup it is tomato, vinegar and some spices (NOT CURRY POWDER). It is not a curry sauce like the real currywurst sauce.
@@amilo5 Thanks, i am also from germany and ate quite a lot of them by myself. Are you a bit brain afk??? Curry powder is a mix of spices, omg.
@@kaddy0306 Only a small amount if any is inside this ketchup. It is just normal plain ketchup that you can buy at any grociery store. The only thing that makes a berliner currywurst into a currywurst is the curry powder on top. And i strongly believe that is not really something that makes a dish a dish. Otherwise my fries would be called paprika fries just because i put a bit of pabrika powder on top. It is just a bit silly. The real ruhrgebiet currywurst has CURRY sauce on it that is brown from all the curry and not just red lidl ketchup like this one.
Sausages with ketchup, bread, fries no offence, but you could have chosen some more interesting foods.
Its about things europe excels in. And all of them are so tasty they are worth every bite. Famous in the whole world, but hard to copy. Currywurst is simply delicious, seems like you never tried one. Most sauces are homemade with vinegar, apples and a certain spice mix. Its not just Ketchup 🤦♀ and Belgium makes the best fries in the world, they are worth every bite.
So what you're saying is that the best europe has to offer is fries? What about pizza
We say it's one of the best foods in Europe. Of course these five dishes don't represent its whole culinary world. And since you asked for pizza, here we go: th-cam.com/video/v1OLKidH3Ok/w-d-xo.html
like the foods above, pizza is also 'just' a snack you eat on the street. None of the above is restaurant food.
Its about things you should try, not about what is the best... what the heck is wrong with you to be this toxic???
Thank you for these stupid suggestions. Something traditional and classy like Schäuferla, Jägerbraten, Rostbrätel, osso bucco, coq au vin, Goulaschz would have left an deeper imprssion on a tourist than a Bratwurst and a Baguette
Fries. . .
Where is Italy??
this video reaches levels of americanness unknown to men until today. There is not something as Spanish or french gastronomy how could you approach to europe gastronomy as a thing?... mare de deu
Ni idea tienen esta gente, paella en el 4 por detrás de unas miseras patatas fritas
Esta gente no sabe comer
Ingredients for 3 out of 5 dishes came from the American continent. Belgium owes its national dish to the West's imperialism. What about making a video of how much European culture was appropriation thanks to its colonial practices and how little do the population now about this.
Even if Latin America had no European colonies these dishes would still exist.
So a street food item, a bread, a side, and only 2 real dishes.
Baguette is not a dish actually.
European food is so good that sailor's risked their lives boarding a ship for months without any guarantee of returning for salt and spices in Asia. 😂
Are these called dishes?
Western Europe will always hate Eastern Europe,(not a single dish from there),but the best food is in Eastern Europe, you will just have to discover for yourselves, whether is the polish pierogi or the hungarian goulash, romanian mici or ciorba, serbian cevapcici, greeks or bulgarian dishes, wtf is belgian fries??baguettes??sausages??? you gotta be kidding🤣🤣🤣😁
Cry, Eastern European food is boring boiled potatoes and cabbage
I wonder why west hates east.
There's a lot of stuff in WE that is high level traditional instead of quick, affordable and tasty, like paella and the like, but it seems EE has retained more magnificent, time consuming and generations of tradition infused dishes
Bro calm down, Western Europe sucks in terms of food but they’re better at annexing other cultures dishes! Southern Europe has the good flavours like Greece Italië Spain Turkey
You are right. I am from Poland and while I like all the dishes presented in this video, only Paella has such tradition to mention in this kind of video
you ignorant people suvlaki-gyros is the best by far by faaaaar
No italian pizza??Wtf?
Cry harder 😱
Please don't buy Currywurst at Curry 36. it's not at all what German Currywurst is like.
omg too much ketchup on the sausage
Nope. Currywurst HAS TO drown in Curry Sauce. Just delicious. Its not normal Ketchup, seems like you didn't read the subtitles.
I don't understand why croissants are considered to be tasy🙄
It is just a pile of a flaky dry pastry
Dry? There is tons of butter added. Where have you tried dry croissants?
Fries are French....................................................
