Thank you, Sgt. Pollard, for removing another impaired driver from our roadways. My parents and siblings were struck and injured by a DUI/DWI driver the night of my father's birthday Thanksgiving weekend a decade ago. I can still hear my sister's voice on the other end of the phone as she called me from the back of the ambulance as the siren screamed in the background. That driver sent 9 people total to the hospital that night, all because he made the choice to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana. I will never forget that night nor the helpless feelings I experienced as I was 600 miles away from my family in their time of need. This man needs to step up and accept the consequences of his actions, period. He's so hung up on his driving with his knee and eating his chicken nuggets that he keeps deferring responsibility for his actions. Embarrassing. Can you imagine what the consequences would be had he hit or killed someone, or even himself? A few moments of pleasure aren't worth it. If you drink or use drugs, find someone else to drive you home who is sober.
The professionalism of the LEO during the DUI was to be admired. No escalation and no knee jerk reactions keeping the whole situation calm and courteous. The driver himself was polite too unlike many that are caught under the influence of alcohol.
I had a beer, well maybe 2, possibly 3, could be 4, but after 5, I lost count, ha, ha, ha. I was driving with my knee because, I have no idea where my hands are at.
Thank you for keeping everybody safe out there and doing this job if you get somebody that doesn't speak English you can use Google translate on your phone can you translate from English to Spanish and any other language and then it will speak it for you
As someone who lives in Salt Lake City, I love having this local connection when I watch. But please make it more entertaining. Pinal county in Arizona has a good way to do it with Frank. You should check it out!
Was rooting for that last guy at the end so much... but then the rocking while standing and yep, .09%, wow. A guy his size needs what, 4+ beers to get to that? I did one of those drink with police awareness events with my local PD where they give you a breath analyzer after a night at the bar. Drank 3 tall beers (one a high % IPA), waited 40+ mins, was very wasted - blew a .06%. I can't imagine driving at that stage or worse. (Walked home).
I enjoy thiese. When I was growing up I wanted be work for the UHP. I did work as an officer for Ogden city for a.time. But back then it was a pay cut so I went back to my other job. So, respect for what you all do out there. I wonder though why I seldom hear an officer say "this isn't the final word. You'll have your day in court and you can present your case to the judge...?". Seems like a natural way to stop some of the discussion. Stay safe!
I'm noticing more and more nighttime drivers using just their running lights. The fools have no idea (apparently) how much harder that makes them to be seen by drivers coming up behind them.
Nearly ran over a small black car in a light haze at 3:00am doing 30 mph on a major highway. No lights at the back. Caught a flash reflection off the glass. Must have missed him by inches with my truck. If you flash your lights and turn them on and off, only a few turn their lights on. Most just ignore you or flip you the bird. My car has daytime lights but the dash dies not illuminate until all the lights are fully on. Dumbest thing to have the dash light up without full lights in use but I hear that has been changed now.
I myself have driven while eating and I can honestly say I was not drifting in and out of my lane. For one thing--my car is fairly modern and it beeps at me like crazy if I veer out of my lane. I also still use my turn signal. I try not to make a habit of it but I will admit I have done that before. i've never driven with my knee though, that alone should get you a ticket imo.
“Is there anything I can do, Officer? I passed every test…” Umm…Unable to stand heel to toe “because my shoes aren’t laced at all” and blows a 0.09 BAC isn’t passing. I hope this driver takes these lessons to heart and enacts positive change. Take care.

It isn't a requirement to speak English. They do need to be able to read signs and know what they mean. They do have to pass a written and driving test. If they pass both, they have a right to drive.
