Everglades Challenge 2024 beach walk down the line of boats

This years boats all lined up and ready to go at 0700 tomorrow morning. there are so many different styles and even home built boats about to do the 300 miles from Fort Desoto to Key Largo. spirits were high and everyone was in such a great mood, it was a real pleasure to spend the day just being there. I talked to so many awesome people and got a wealth of knowledge in just one day and I hope I can retain even some of it :) it's going to be a great race.

Nice! I am surprised at so many kayaks (willing to paddles that distance) and so few fast cats. Starting at 7:00 though - 9:00 would be better! 😊

It looks like fast catamarans have taken over this race 😢. This means everyone who doesn't fancy sitting on a trampoline for several days will no longer have a place other than DAL. Not cool, not fun, not interesting.

Yeah, there is a few luckily the race is broken up into classes, so if someone is looking for a "win" they can compete in their class. I think a lot of folks do it just for the experience, or at least the ones I've talked to

The winner was Class 4 Monohull. You have nothing to cry about.

It's called a Challenge, not a race. Only half the contestants got to the finish line!
