    Yeah, I've become very disillusioned with big, powerful bikes in recent years. I think 125 to 650 is the best span of sizes for bikes unless your into 2 up touring. My personal sweet spot is around 500. Enough power to progress, light enough to manage, can use all the power on every ride but has the best performance between 20 and 60, just where the speed limits are. Amazing that.

    Great review. My Cb500fa for touring, Worx 125 for local rides and town suit me. I have the best of both worlds. 62 years in the saddle and despite 27 makes and models of bikes I've found my ideal combination. No, not a sidecar combination. Just cancelled my subscription to two biking mags as they concentrate on tall, powerful thirsty bikes to which I no longer relate. I can't see the point of 130, 140 mph when you can't use all that power. Still, at 79 yrs old I don't want a bike that goes faster than I can THINK. Happy riding in the New Year. JB of Gosport.

    In today’s market, global manufacturing is to be expected. The real question a buyer needs to consider is the overall QC of the finished product. I’m old enough to remember when bikes from Japan were thought of as “suspect” quality, and we certainly don’t think that way now 😉. I always get a chuckle when you point out frame welds that are a bit dodgy because I can remember the Spanish bikes of the 70’s looking like the frames were held together with a series of “warts” and not welds 😆. The first time I saw a Rickman frame I couldn’t take my eyes of the welds, a true work of art 🤩.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there's no doubt welding quality does vary on bikes - even on this single bike it goes from cool on the exhaust to hideous on the frame.....

    Good to see small companies starting to make bikes again in the UK. It seems well sorted for a 125 though I can't understand why the EU haven't made ABS compulsory on this type of bike. What a cracking little bike! It would be great if they made a 250cc version. Definitely good for a few green lanes. Assembled in the UK is becoming a thing nowadays, and why not? Engines and frames are made in China for many other top brand bikes. I imagine it allows UK pruducers to compete with Chinese bikes, which is a good thing.

    I sure as hell hope that custom can is lacquered or treated in some way otherwise those welds are going to be seeds for oxidisation sites.
    For those that don't know, colouration from heat on stainless steel is damage to the chrome layer that gives the stainless steel its corrosion/rust resistance, hence, the colouration on the can is at risk of rusting specifically where the welds are. Those welds should be pickled and passivated.

    had one of this piece of scrap under the name of "Minsk SCR 250" (with 250 cc engine though). "Made in Belarus" they said. but this "made in" was just re-assembling Fuego Scrambler 250 made in China and partly disassembled before shipping to Belarus. This is exactly the same "made in England"... My was anaemic with 250cc, this one should be slow up to "unsafe on the roads"... The only bright side of this bike is an exhaust pipe. Funny pops under closed throttle.

    Great video. I took my UK motorcycle test on a Triumph Tiger Cub 250 in 1981. Also a simple single cylinder bike. This seems to be a big improvement: more speed, better brakes, less vibration. Herald seems to be coming a bit late to the party with petrol engines expected to be banned in 2030. I can’t help but think e-bikes are the way to go. I’m riding rented 125cc bikes in Vietnam and they are surprisingly competent - even to the point of carrying 2 passemgers with luggage over mountain passes.

    Nice design, nice idea however I'm a bit wary of European bikes made with Chinese parts, maybe I'm too old fashion thinking we should go the other way round... don't think you buy a Ducati for its mirrors neither hahaha

    Best of luck to them. I won’t lie as a rebadger of Chinese tatt I wasn’t particularly interested in them, but clearly they are going to try and make it as a an actual manufacturer so all the more power to them!
    Hopefully they can move any future overseas manufacturing to Taiwan though so they don’t get done like scomadi now they’re pushing their own designs

    Ideal indeed for commuting, getting around in your neighborhood or just ride for the fun of it. No parking problems, there always be a small spot where you can park it.
    It reminds me on my youth riding a 50cc bike; great fun while riding with your friends.
    But.... a 250-500cc can do the same, has a bit more power, probably has luggage capacity, screen etc.

    Things have certainly come on leaps and bounds since I started on my humble Honda 50. I graduated to a Triumph Terrier 150 for my test in 1969 and went down hill from there!!. I still have my Suzuki RF900 RW abandoned in the storage unit having given up riding now. A terrific little bike in general but maybe a bit tall for the average lady rider, perhaps they could address that and bring out a lower seat version!!

    Turns on a sixpence, reminds me of a BSA Bantam....🤣 Back to the Sixties I think not! Leave those days well and truly behind. Had a Grom upto 2 years ago, throughly loved it, 125 riding is so refreshing than litre plus biking. Now... I wouldn’t normally look at a lesser known brand such as the Herald, so well done to you promoting the brand.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    3 grand for that or 3 grand for zontes G1. The G1 is full power LC, bosch abs and EFI. Rim spoked wheels like a BMW, alloy swing arm. Comes with crash bars and bung. Euro 5. If you can get a ride you won't be disappointed.

    125cc bikes really are loads of fun. My first bike was a Honda XL125 back in the early 80’s. That was such a laugh to ride.
    Yes it did look quite tall for any shorter rider to cope with at the lights etc. Hope Mrs Flyer finds a bike which will help build up her hours and confidence. Is the smaller Royal Enfield single CBT compliant? Maybe that would be a good way to go as it looks like it has a pretty low seat height. I’m assuming Carole will be able to ride the rest of the bikes in the garage over the coming years as her experience builds.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep this one is too tall and no the RE isn’t a 125cc so can’t be ridden in a CBT - we have something else planned for Carole to practice on! Stay tuned!
