When picking up stitches at seams, I would pretend like I dropped a stitch, and do the same thing I would with a dropped stitch. This helps to prevent the holes.
I’ve always skipped the swatch bc it was so confusing but THIS WAS THE MOST HELPFUL WAY UVE SEEN you explained it pretty well and thorough THANK YOU SO MUCH

hi! are you doing any German short rows or specific increases for the back of the shorts?
Hey good video mine look a bit different though the seam is in a diffeent place for the rows I increased were you meant to increase one at the back and one at the front or 2 at the back and 2 at the front?
kara's knit-eng has another method for adding an elastic waistband, working well with me for these shorts so far especially because i have elastic band on hand instead of shirring elastic

Thanks for your video! I can’t work out how many stitches to cast on! I did the equation from my swatch but it ended up really big. I’m using bigger needles does that matter? I thought the equation and swatch would give the waistband measurement for me with that yarn and needles included. ❤️

Wasn't it too difficult to knit with two strands of cotton? The last time I tried, the yarn got very tangled.
Looove these and really want to make them. Is it possible to make it a long pants, just continuing knitting the legs? Or do you think it would be too big on the legs? Hope you can help. Xx
definitely can be pants! i would maybe do a little less increases but either way just experiment until you get something you like :) good luck!
Oh, I need 6.5 or 7 mm needles? Which I don't currently have? Hmm...the current yarn stash which I'm using might also not suffice. I GUESS I just have to VISIT THE CRAFT STORE. AGAIN. WHAT A SHAME...

hello! are there any types of decreases you recommend for the shorts? im planning on making the shorts tighter around my thighs. also thank you for the easy and informative pattern!
you could try decreasing every 2 or 3 rows instead of every other! then it won't grow "outward" as fast and will result in a tighter fit

Hi!! the shorts use knit and purl stitches but I think to make these shorts you should also be comfortable knitting in the round and increases!! I would say once you have those things down give it a shot! good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
