This video’s thumbnail is a literal work of art and it’s a shame there isn’t an entire 10-hour-long video of traditional Finnish music or something, in that exact setting
Ainoostaan sanat on suomeks.

This is awesome, makes me really want to learn how to play the Kantele!
Sounds awesome!! 🥳♥️
Awesome. Informative, virtuostic, heartfelt. Subscribed.
I play a similar instrument: it's the medieval psaltery harp, which is like a kantele with strings on both sides. There's something magical about plucked strings.
cheers from sunny Vienna, Scott
Wow , You´re an incredible musician !!! Congrats
I've only ever heard old style kantele playing, so to hear the 1700's onward was really a shock to me! Until now I thought it was all smooth slow melodies, kept mainly to nice little strums, but this is /awesome/ -- incredible work, and extremely enlightening and eye-opening! Cheers from the USA! ^^
I love the old style melodies, they are so soothing and calming
So many registers you dominate so skillfully... and you have a wonderful voice too! And the best of all: you really enjoy it, and transmit this joy to your watchers/listeners. Once more it becomes evident that a good sense of humour is related to intelligence and talent. Thank you so much for sharing this gift with the world! Greetings and hugs from Catalunya!
Wow, many thanks Pablo & greetings from Finland 🥳😘
This woman is amazing!!! I have never seen anything like it!
Wow…How beautiful this is!
Greeting from Japan.
Wowwww.... greetings from Brazil
creative and original idea shows not only evolution of kantele, we can see evolution of music too. year ago I had happiness listen she's amazing art in live. impression of she's talent will stand by me forever! thank a lot Ida! greeting from Georgia! 🙂
I cried from how beautiful it is..mostly before modern times LOL. I smiled a lot though. What a beautiful instrument. Kaunis ilma soitin kantele on!
Todella Kaunis ja hauska. I love it. True talent to be able to go through all of those songs, styles, rhythms, instrument changes, choreography, etc in under 4 minutes.
How many songs & instruments can one play in just 4minutes 😄😄🥳
such talent and humour
1800s has great appeal for me.
I love it too 😍
That went to places. Not the places I expected it to go to, but man, I enjoyed the ride.
Can't stop listening to this. It is so beautiful and transcending! Congratulations!!
Thanks so much! 😍
I just found out that the kantele is considered unusual and my world has been shattered. My raised in Finland heart 😔
Recently picked up finnish as a language I am learning, and had some lessons that had me comment on how the kantele is a finnish instrument, and my curiousity led me here. Very neat!
I love you more than you than you will ever understand.
Kiitos mielenkiintoisesta "Zeitreise". Musiikkisi piristää minua näinä "kummallisina" aikoina täällä täysin hiljentyneessä keski-euroopassa. Suomeen pääsee nyt vain Sinun musiikin kautta. Danke!😊
Oh! My God! She´s really good!!
Ai että. Hienosti toteutettu
Mahtavaa, kiitos! 😀🙌
Very clever!! Love this!
Thanks dear
LOL! Love it!
I'd been wondering about those big kantele just prior to modern concert models. I wasn't sure if they were played with the high strings toward or away.
Awesome!! 🙌🙌 You basically can play both ways & high strings towards you is the old way but most difficult in my opinion 😅😅
Love this instrument. Great video!!!
I came here out of interest for comparing various zithers and ancient instruments.
I am blown away.
Brilliant!
I'm still asking, why is this not famous?
Wow, amazing to see. And her voice is beautiful.
Amazing!
The "old" instruments were best! But... nice to see what`s possibel.
I just love how she found her way despite the circustances 😃
i wonder how many takes and cuts were necessary :)
Great, Ida!!
Such a great performance and production, congratulations and thanks for sharing
kanteleesta on todella moneksi 😊
Awesome!
Beautiful

This is Amazing! So great!
Awesome, thanks!! 🥳🥳
My favorite style is the ancient times 💙
Your channel deserves way more subscribers! Great video!
I came here cause I actually searched kantele... what a trip
I've never heard anything about it before, and now I've found your channel with music on this amazing instrument. Thank you so much for this perfomance! Just happened, I found an incredibly beautiful performance of gusli. When was typed "slavic music" in the search I was shown an unique performance on slavic gusli (helmet-sharped psaltery) by one guslar Kirill Bogomilov. I was incredibly inspired by it's performance and I learned at his youtube that it turns out there is an gusli ancient slavic tradition but gusli was banned in Russia for more than 200 years and was burned at the stake in the middle ages as a magical devilish instrument! Unbelievably!!!
I love the sound of the gusli and kantele. Thank you, it has a sound that reverberates and blows through my mind like wind running through leaves.
I also didn't know about this before. But as I listened to this I started to cry. It was so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us!
In Europe burned heretics but in Russia there are burned musical instruments, that's the case...!
I found guslar Kirill Bogomilov's performance on the slavic gusli, thank you very much! It's really interesting and informative for me. My relatives were from Russia and that's probably why I really like this music instrument.
Thank you very much for the hint! It's really interesting and informative for me. My relatives were from Russia and that's probably why I really like this music instrument.
Olet mestari. Soittaisit joskus Elvis coverin.
Todella hyvää!
Beautiful, funny and amusing, very interesting... Many thanks!
Tää oli kova!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Elegant performance, this concept would work well as a TV music series.
UK TV is too busy playing repeats of the same old same old pop celebrities from the 80s :(
Bravo!
Wake me up on suosikkini. Kiitos. Olet taitava!
That was literally AWESOME
Yay, thanks Emma!!
Genialne!
The older, the better.
never forget the roots.

😍 1960-1970е😘
Hienosti esitetty
Joko mä oon jumissa 1990-luvulla tai sä oot tulevaisuudesta... Sun musiikki on kyl mahtavaa, ite tyydyn pimputtelemaan Syrjälahtea :)
Congratulations!
Thanks dear 😘
Mahtava suoritus!
the beginning is similar to Old Man (Väinämöinen) by Ensiferum
Lämpimiä soundeja saat irti kanteleesta aikakaudesta riippumatta. Minua tuo 1920-luvun soundi erityisesti viehätti.!
Liked and subscribed!
2:36 smooth and perfect. Well done.
That sounded freaking magical untill the lower tones came in.
I used to be able to play kantele really well, but it has been so long since I last time played it I have forgot. I still have the instrument
You should try it! You'd be surprised your hands might remember automatically
Hahahaa that was amazing!!! :D
Awesome :D
NO HUHHUH! Wau kiitos tekijöille
Your playing sounds very beautiful.😊I think that the English translation for Kalevalainen sävelmä is a bit incorrect since that tune was played all across the country and not just in Karelia. Other than that I think you showing different styles of kantele playing is very unique.
Mahtavaa!
Oo, jee!! Me soitettiin vanhan kartanon kehräävää rukkia aikanaan kantelejengin kans ja noista aika moni on oikein kunnon klassikkokamaa kanteleyhtyeille 🙌
i play the kantele or as i say the kannel(estonia honey) and ive always been jelous of my friends who can play newer song on their instruments and im stuck playing folk song ( which isnt bad but sometimes you get tired of them) i took me as a surprise you can play newer song them
Mielenkiintoinen on myös tuo 1990- lukujen kantele, missä on sellon kaikukopan kaikuaukko. Olisi mielenkiintoista kuulla sille perustelu .....
tama on todella hyva soitin
I like how 1990s was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica.
💠🔘💠🔘GREAT 🔘💠🔘💠
Kantele on todella hyvä soitin.
🤩🤩
Upea
Thank you, i'll been always wondering why as in orginal Finnish man who loves folk songs i've been loved so much modern day sample music, modern day sampleres, etc, chopped music. It sounds like speak to me when sound got hard cutting like human speak, now i realise its just modernised kantele.
Kuka on säveltänyt tuon lumoavan kauniin 1920-luvun kappaleen?
Voitko tehä believerin kanteleel?
👍
bend on 1.28 sounds good should be used more often. mabe connected to a foot pedal or something
Loistavaa
1:47 konevitsan kirkonkellot!!!
Oletko sinä lankkukannelta siis semmoista umpipuista sähkökannelta soitellut? Se kait tästä videolta puuttui Itessään soittimen evoluution kannalta.
Mikäs sen vikan laulun nimi oli?
you can realy see where it goes from being a "religious" instrument to when it started going to parties (1700s)
religious instrument. what hevospaska did you smoke? 🙂
It was a folk-instrument.
Meil katottiin tää koulussa :)
